I just built a new base👌
No way how in 2 years i world never leave my house without a map
Compass?
If anyone's wondering, that means the maximum Minecraft map size is eight times Earth's surface.
In theory, the MC world is around the same size as Saturn
Charles Carr Actually the PC version of a Minecraft map is Infinite. The further the travel the more the game loads chunks. You can keep walking in one direction and never reach the starting position because it looks infinitely in all directions. I don't know why he added Minecraft when there is no actual entire map for it since any map made would need to be constantly made larger as you keep walking.
If he had specified if it was console Minecraft then yes that has a current limit of a 5x5 square of land mass that is made in each seed. But he didn't so I'm to assume he meant PC Minecraft, which again is Infinite so I don't know why he put in the video.
In theory the PC Minecraft is larger than Earth or any other known plant. Even larger than any other known distance besides space itself since it loads Infinitely in any direction you walk.
As that one guy has done for the past few years. He has a computer program walking a Minecraft character in one direction for the past few years. According to the computer it has walked a total of 1 Trillion blocks. In the game's logic each block is equal to 1 meter. So in real life the computer has walked 1 trillion meters. Which in miles is 621371192.237334, let's just round that up to 621,371,192.3 miles.
Now the Earth point to point all the way around in 196.9 Million miles. If we calculate that, 621,371,192.3/196,900,000=3.156 (round up from 3.15577040274)
So with that we can say the computer has currently walked the equivalent of 3.156 Earths in a straight line and it continues to keep walking as I speak. So it can safely be assumed that the Minecraft World is infinitely expanding as you travel.
So why is a portion of this world considered a map? Please remove it or add other map portions that are also from Infinitely expanding games like someone pointed out, KSP.
While Minecraft is technically infinite, there is a world border that does not let players go beyond +/- 29999984 X/Z. If you do get past that border through teleportation, you will die unless in creative, as any mob past the border begins to take damage until it dies.
For the purposes of demonstration, I believe the map includes all habitable land, not land where everything dies.
More accurately, just say larger than neptune
wqre qwertyuiop well did u know that the end ofmminecraftw beta infinite worlds is 3 times bigger but the game crashes at the normal world border but teleport farther and at the very end the worlds chunks will be gone and the game will crash big time!
Neptune: You're weak.
Minecraft: I'm you.
Neptune: Noooooooooooo!
Ok no

Ah daggerfall, where the in-game map is larger than the continent that it's supposed to be a part of.
It's bigger than the continent if you take Skyrim as actual scale, which you shouldn't considering how pathetically tiny everything in that game is.
@@kylej.whitehead-music309 In fact not everything is pathetic in Skyrim, the soundtrack is still iconic and striking to this day, the lore of the game is vast and dense just like most of the Elder Scrolls franchise, now things as pathetic as the combat system, the artificial intelligence of the npcs and the flood of bugs as in every Bethesda game, you can correct these things today with mods.

Michael Michael if it was infinite then it would be impossible to code so it’s just reeeeaaaaalllly big
It's preposterously easy to have an infinite size procedural map that uses a combined timestamp random number seeded generator.
The primary thing is storing the seeds properly to allow the map to be reconstituted as players inhabit the map segments.
But honestly, there is little need for huge maps as the playerbase is so tiny that most areas will be virtually uninhabited unless there is some profitability to being there.
The map in Ghost Recon Breakpoint is also very big! It takes 5 and a half hours to walk across the entire map.

No map can be infinite
I was surprised that the world of Skyrim was unexpectedly small.
I guess there are many places I haven't been to yet.
SO glad Asheron's Call made this list! I'm probably the only one lol
Minecraft is bigger than earth. Let's live there instead our planet, this world is much better and not as stressful.
"less stressful" intill your just casually walking outside and turn around to a creeper right behind you
AdineX 2 bûllshît
U've got to remember the mobs, I'm like your just sitting down and watching TV right then all of a sudden half your house explodes.
Turn on Peaceful mode so we cant starve, no mobs and can generate health (lol)
@@W1nds but no diseases
I don't think it's fair to include procedurally generated worlds in a list ranking the biggest video game _maps_ .Sandbox games such as The Witcher are meticulously designed involving extreme attention to detail. Randomized worlds obviously have an infinite number of permutations and combinations and the game engine can go on generating endlessly, however creating an entire virtual city (GTA) based on Los Angeles is far more impressive. Also, doesn't No Man's Sky have trillions of possibilities and an entire universe that's procedurally generated? Shouldn't that be here too?
This guy here got it right.
I can also run a random world-generator with a predefined seed, some simple rules (first dirt, then stone, sometimes water) and create an even bigger map.
But those people, who handcrafted every building and every path, made thought process of where to put a tree to not interfere with gameplay, those who populate those lands with Quests and NPC's... thats a real accomplishment.
lol, who cares
Viv B No, its not the same "Procedurally Generated Realtime" than "Random Generated Maps" Minecraft Generates Randomly a Map and then goes loading it as you go, while others, IN-GAME go creating more and more, like Starbound, they're Infinite.
Viv B yea...
Solution: Stop watching before Minecraft pops up.
Imagine all maps have been combined together in one open-world game, it would really take a while to explore around the map as that would be fascinating for me.
I'd love to see another one for smaller game maps like Zelda: Ocarina
What matters is what's in the map, not just how large the map is.
Justin Y. true, most of far cry 2 you cant get to, like mountains and the borders, they are just for the map, not for the player to explore.
The biggest downfall of the Just Cause games.
Haha i found you again
Justin Y. I know, True Crime was a horrible game when i think of how badly the space was utilised
Justin Y. We meet again...
Fuel was enormous, i remember.
I also liked that game.
I miss Fuel :'(
I love how the elder scrolls map size goes backwards in size
Elder Scrolls VI will be smaller than GTA 3
Even tho Online is not the main title, the map includes the entire region of Tamriel so there's still hope for ES6
If the map turns out to be small, i'd have no problem if the map is dense and detailed like RDR2
Fuel was so good!
Daggerfall: I have the biggest map!
Minecraft: k
69 hours to walk across Daggerfall
You_just Minecraft also uses randomly generated worlds. Daggerfall doesn't.
No game can compare it's map with Star Citizen :) It's the hugest map created so far , and it will become even bigger ! ( someone will say there is nothing on it ..... but numbers are numbers .... )
:)
We're not even one star system yet :D
Even though the map we have in 2.4 is HUGE, its really tiny. We only have the immediate orbit of one planet out of four, and it feels big. With the release of 3.0 we will get the entire Stanton System, which is 6au across (at .2c that's 40 minutes of continuous Quantum Travel)
Stanton is a relatively small system out of around 100 total systems in our universe. The future is a bit bigger than we can probably wrap our minds around at the moment.
eXSport of course, most of that is empty space. And we don't have planet surfaces yet, so only a few stations is the real area of the map.
Tim stro59 and how much of that area is stuff you can land on?
Daggerfall: HA! I'm the biggest one!
Minecraft: Hold my beer.
No Man Sky: Hold my beer too
Elite Dangerous: Cute
Universe Sandbox 2: You're all tiny
Roblox: I'm not a single game but I'm an interconnected system of games made by the players for the players!
Fuck roblox and its fanbase, thank God the forums got shut down
K Swizzy but it's no bigger than elder scrolls 1 arena
GTA V: we have the biggest map.
The crew: no we have the biggest
Minecraft: hold my diamonds
No Man's Sky : Hold my planet
