    I'm glad I've already adopted this mindset of "if something on the Internet is aggressively advertised, avoid it like the plague." I did it with TikTok, I did it with every single sponsorship on RUclips, and I'm sure as hell gonna do it with Temu.

      I don't know if you're allowed to ask people, but I'd like to know how often you're personally seeing the package contents labeled incorrectly in your area?
      My experience with any place in China that sells dirt cheap stuff has always been that they intentionally mislabel the stuff to skirt Customs Duty.
      I also haven't really considered it until now, but could that also have something to do with regulations regarding anti-trust, undercutting, and predatory pricing?

    • @bubblebeampiplup8132
      @bubblebeampiplup8132 4 месяца назад

      @@pretzel4626 I cannot say for certain how much parcels are labelled incorrectly (either because the worker couldn’t be bothered to list them all, customer did say everything either by accident or on purpose, or other factors) as most parcels we process are usually labelled properly, and we stress to people that if it’s mislabeled and customs does get suspicious, they’ll send it back and they have to pay to resend it (it has happened a few times, and its a pain to explain it to them) and that if it is mislabeled, they could get in trouble if its stuff that cant be sent such as batteries or perfumes. Plus, most customers I serve are honest about what they send anyway.
      I will say though that customs have begun to get strict about what goes as letters leaving Canada. Granted, even I can’t say why they are getting strict now, though all of the reasons you gave are plausible.

    When Temu blew up and started inundating everyone with their million dollar advert, my first impression was "Hey, I've seen this one before!" I felt like I had seen things like it for years.
    It really reminded me of just all the crappy ads for mobile games I have been seeing for years now; Flashy "get in on the action", "Download now" and of course, big bucks spent on adverting.
    It doesn't help the unflattering comparison that they have popups to "increase your reward" nor minigames.
    But at my core, I will always be suspicious of someone that murmurs in my ear to "shop like a billionaire".

Temu has been funding me with data for over a year now, I know the location of every pixel on their phone, the location of their secret stash of treasure in the middle of Albuquerque new Mexico. And most importantly I know that they live at the American Gardens Building on W. 81st Street on the 11th floor. In the morning they put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches, they can do 1000 now. After they remove the ice pack they use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower they use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on their face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then they apply an herb-mint facial mask which they leave on for 10 minutes. They always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.
      Thanks to Temu, I will be able to sell this information the dark web, and soon your cousins will know that their so called "free stuff" was really not so free. Because soon the dark web employees will come steal their livers.

    My friend messaged me a while ago with the whole free products thing, so I followed the instructions and got to the part where I could select my free item. The moment that I saw I had to refer people in order to "claim my prize," I just noped out of there. Not only did I not have the time nor energy to refer people, but it also activated all my "sketchy vibes" alarms. So yeah, not a big fan of shit like that.
    I guess that comes from the fact that I was once scammed by a free Robux hack when I was about 12-13 which included a referral system in order to "claim your Robux." . That would've been 6-7 years ago, and I definitely learned my lesson.
    Edit: Guys, I know Temu is not a scam. All I was saying is it reminded me of scams in the past, so I didn't bother sharing it. My friend literally told me it would work, but I didn't realize I would also have to refer to get my free reward.

    They even say it themselves, "Products may not appear the same as or be the same quality as those depicted in images and descriptions" on their app.
    It's WILD that this is allowed, and it's terrible that companies can use referral scams to turn people into free advertisement.
    I know the money they offer must be good when it comes to youtube ads, but the fact you rejected it in order to tell the full stop truth is great.
