  • This video shows examples of stenography symbols used for high speed Morse code reception.
Amazingly, the maximum receiving speed recorded in the championship was 280cpm (characters per minute) for random alphabet letters, 300cpm for random numerical characters, and 230cpm for randomly mixed letters, numbers and punctuations.
I asked several top ranking athletes to show me their own writing systems that cover 26 English alphabets, numbers and punctuation marks: ? , . = / .
I would like to start learning shorthand and master it to speed up my reception.
I thank my friends who joined the IARU World High Speed Telegraphy Championship 2011 in Bielefeld, Germany. 73 de JO2SLZ

It is an impromptu reception to 45WPM Morse code with shorthand by one of the gold medalists of 9th IARU High Speed Telegraphy World Championship.
The Morse Code played here is an audio file of CNN news message converted into Morse code. The speed 45WPM (word per minute) is 225 characters per minute. We tested in a bus with background music. Her official records were 280cpm for letters, 300cpm for numbers, and 230cpm for mixed letters in the contest. Fantastic! Thank you, Julia. 73 de JO2SLZ.

I have been learning Russian language after the HST 2011 I participated. Some day I would like to master Russian style shorthand system and your High Speed Telegraphy training method directly from the Russian team. I would like to activate HST activities in Japan.See you in the future HST Championships.
Thank you Julia UA4FGO for your demonstration in the Video. Большое Спасибо.

i rather improve my brain-reading abilities, so i can have the conversation w/o need to write down anything - doesnt work with random letters, but any normal QSO can be held totally in the head.

Wait, I thought shorthand was supposed to be quicker?! Idgi, why would you want to learn to write slower?

The concept is that all the characters are all one stroke. Something like cursive, but faster
