They are not going anywhere. I remember when i was a housing officer in an inner london borough there were asylum seekers from Somalia who all had council flats and were on full benefits. As soon as they got British passports they started going to Somalia for holidays to visit relatives and to arrange marriages, even though Somalians were still arriving claiming they were asylum seekers. A chap who worked for the council he was a Team Leader in a specialist section and his ethnic background was Somalian used to help me with to interview them when they came in applying for housing. He said 99% of them were economic migrants and they regarded the UK as a soft touch because they could get good benefits and send money back to Somalia.
There are three Somalias, wth the most unstable being in the south around Mogadishu, further north and more stable is Somaliland, with Puntland in the far north being the most civilised and well governed.
