I have to admit that I too bought into the tampon wound pack that was told by a retired army corpsman. Yea I tossed them. I always have carried lots of gauze tho
Oh yes definitely something to consider. We had a friend who would attach our OPFAK to the back of his seat. Whatever you do, make sure you also have gear in your pocket, it is not uncommon for bikers who wreck to be separated from their bike. So the gear on your bike is great for helping render aid to someone else, and keep your gear ON YOUR PERSON!
I really like this idea going forward. Going over common myths and the complications they pose. What does happen when you put gun powder in the wound to light it to cauterize the skin? I assume we still see a build up of blood underneath, even if you are somehow able to cauterize it? And I assume it really doesn't work and just becomes a wet junk causing further infection issues if the patient even does somehow live through that? Other things like this I think would be great!
The issue is with the debridement process once at a higher level of care, it isn't that it could NEVER work, however, we suggest having the right gear on you so you don't have to improvise.
I need a TQ cause I don't work well with my pants around my ankles. I like the look of the Snake Staff etq, Don't have one but I think I might get one. Already have a couple cat 7's in my Bleed-OUT Prevention Kit™ and I practice with the Chinese ones that I thought I would carry but have decided to go with genuine Cat. Just kidding about me changing the name on my Bleeding Prevention Kit I bought from you guys. You guys are welcome to use bleed out prevention kit If you like---I would be honored. I just always see the prevention and I'm thinking it's a little late to prevent bleeding. I'm trying so hard not to sound like an A-hole but its probably not working. Love you guys and thank you for all that you are doing. ♥
I've had tampons and diapers in my trauma bag for YEARS,,,, 3rd bat 75th RNG REG C med,,, I trust my training and in the field EXPERIENCE before any of this YT CRAP !!!!
Hey Scubasmitty, how long ago were you in? Technology and understand of what works and what doesn't is always changing. The Ranger Handbook is a great place to see updated suggestions.
Obviously the right tools are best, but your "myth busting" is questionable. All of these methods have been used successfully in real life, you admit as much with the sugar and pepper lab tests. And we all know thats not how you use a belt for a TQ, you need a windlass. Again, best to have the right tools for the job, but in an emergency everything you showed can work, at least has the potential to save a life if there's no other option. What exactly was your goal with this video?

The sound of fine leather being ripped from belt loops brought back horrific memories.

Totally!
No dad! Please, no. I promise I won't do it again. 🤣
I wore out my daddy's work belt.

Years ago, some used to teach putting spider webs in the wound. Probably a good idea to get rid of the spider😂
That is crazy!
Algopon 👊 bump
Just rub some dirt on it, and walk it off.
Tis but a flesh wound.

This is funny and sad that idiots believe they myths
You might be surprised at what most people think is true that is nothing but a myth. Not medically related but everyday things in life.

Both are designed to pull liquid into them and prevent clots. Can’t see how either would slow flow of blood.
😅😅😅 cool story 😊
