      @@thakima1 I own it and it's as close as it can get (maybe behind X4 AURES II but the touch is inferior). The pedaling and touch is incredible, really I think I prefer it over the Steinway model S. But the sound, it's good, definitely better than other numeric keyboard, still it is far inferior from a real piano... Don't get me wrong, I think it's a matter of VST plugin and not speakers/design, and apparently the NV10-S has an update on the software part. I hope it fixes it because the bass doesn't sound as beautiful as acoustic pianos. Of course you have to play with the sound pretty high

      @@RA-el6zj Don't be confused by the cardboard boxes. They are very heavy. I moved the contents of the first box downstairs to the music room by myself, but it took four men to carry the main piano section down the stairs. The assembly is as simple as shown in this video.

    It's an awesome piece of furniture, I only dislike the speakers on the top, if Kawai disguised them with a long strip of cloth like they did with the NV5 / CA99 it would be 150% beautiful

    • @Instrumental-Covers
      @Instrumental-Covers 2 года назад +1

      They took this furniture style from the Yamaha N1/N1X and the N2. If you pay close attention, the Kawai NV10/NV10S, which is their very late response to the Yamaha's hybrid pianos (the AvantGrand were introduced back in 2009 with full grand piano action, when Kawai was still doing their wooden keys only), is actually the top portion of the Yamaha N1 with the legs of the Yamaha N2. So, Kawai basically took two Yamaha models and mixed them up. However, the Yamaha N1/N1X has stylish top speakers that are thin rectangular frames handsomely placed, unlike those 4 circles in the Kawai that look kind of retro and lack elegance. And the Yamaha N2 has two stereo woofers rather than 1 single woofer in the center (Kawai). The NV10S has 4 speakers on top that are not lined up, so they can't add a long strip of cloth. The NV5S features 4 smaller drivers on top that are lined up, which is why they can cover them with that long strip of cloth.

    • @DavidIzquierdoAzzouz
      @DavidIzquierdoAzzouz 2 года назад

      @@Instrumental-Covers They still could use 2 parallel cloth stripes to cover each pair of speakers, that would look more elegant I guess, but I think we both agree on the "cheap look" of those round speakers on the top of the nice shiny brighty furniture

    • @Instrumental-Covers
      @Instrumental-Covers 2 года назад +2

      @@DavidIzquierdoAzzouz Definitely. Those 4 circles are a bit like the haircut of Jim Carrey in the movie Dumb and Dumber. At least Yamaha gave their N1X some style with those thin rectangular grills and only 3 instead of 4.

    How is the touch of NV10s? Will it be comparable with the grand piano, or does NV10 has a lighter touch when playing?

    • @Swiftray
      @Swiftray 3 года назад +5

      it's not even compareable ... it IS the same cause it kinda is a grand piano w/o strings

  • @spacedoodle6989

    It's a crime that they didn't go with a polished black back panel on something that's otherwise such high quality.

    • @lightningblender
      @lightningblender 3 года назад +2

      The polish is extremely expensive. Look under a grand or behind an upright and in 99.9% of cases you won’t find polished wood.

    • @titob.yotokojr.9337
      @titob.yotokojr.9337 2 года назад +1

      It's not a crime because that's how it's normally done on the back of the most expensive upright pianos and under the most expensive concert grand pianos.
      In fact in many concert grands in concert halls, the lid does not have ebony finish so that when it is opened for a performance, the lid does not reflect light on the eyes of the orchestra.

    • @spacedoodle6989
      @spacedoodle6989 2 года назад

      @@titob.yotokojr.9337 I've never seen an upright with particle board across the back no matter how expensive it is. The comparison doesn't apply because this is an electronic instrument. They cheaped out on the cabinet plain and simple, assuming that most people would want to tuck the back against a wall.

      @dylanjongsma8697 3 года назад +3

      @@fontexstudios It's not that the CA99 action is worse, they just aren't comparable. The Grand Feel III action in the CA 79 and 99 are designed to accurately replicate the feel of a true acoustic grand action. The action in the NV10S...IS.... A grand piano action. It's the same one found in the top of the line concert grands by Kawai

      @@fontexstudios I wasn't aware of anyone saying the action in the NV5 was better than the NV10. Is there a source you could link me to?
      Again, I don't think you can compare the NV5 action to the NV10 action. They represent vastly different actions (upright vs grand respectively)

  • @paulblack5025
    @paulblack5025 3 года назад

    Does the NV5 hammers hitting still feel real at low volume ?
    Ive tried a hybrid Casio & the action is nice at medium or high volume but at low volume feels fake! “Too hard”

    • @HitsKeys
      @HitsKeys 3 года назад +2

      I think that's a universal issue that affects most if not all digital pianos. The action resistance does not change depending on the master volume setting. So if you have the volume set really low, it will probably feel too heavy. The best thing to do is to set it at a higher volume and use headphones if necessary.

      @@HitsKeys thanks very much for your reply! Wonder which digital is most fun to play? It’s for song writing in a studio & for midi recording

    • @HitsKeys
      @HitsKeys 3 года назад

      @@paulblack5025 "fun" is somewhat hard to define and obviously subjective, the cliché answer is that you should try instruments in person, if you're able 😉 . The good news is that there are quite a few manufacturers (Kawai, Yamaha, Roland, Casio, Korg etc.) that make good instruments to suit almost any scenario. An NV-10s seems overkill (large form factor, meant to emulate a grand piano) to be used mostly as a MIDI keyboard in a studio unless you're playing almost exclusively technically demanding piano music. If you're planning to simulate other instruments as well, you might be better off getting a Roland or Yamaha slab with Pitch/Mod wheels without built in speakers. Do you use software VST pianos as well?

    3:16 The pedals look super ugly. Why don't just make it simple as grand piano?

    • @namakudamono
      @namakudamono 3 года назад +3

      The pedals are shipped with a protective cover on them. This can be removed to reveal the regular metal pedals (like a grand piano).
