What is your honest opinion on litterbox training a puppy? His parents are 6lbs, so he should also be small... that's why we're doing litterbox training with paper pellets... just hoping it's the right idea?
He presents training in 7 days. Each of 7 items are commands that he believes a dog should know. They are presented in part ii of the book ruclips.net/user/postUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq . The parts of the guideare divided: part i know your dog part ii the seven commands part iii cures for 7 behavior problems. Each chapter presents a topic, a dog's story, and a "what to do". It was written simply and you can jump from chapter to chapter to review anything as needed.
I'm so glad you actually responded to our comments requesting you to train a small breed or a puppy. 'Cause really, they can be so stubborn sometimes! For some reason I'm more excited for this particular series than any previous ones. Can't wait to see what this holds for us!

Agree. It’s just to hard to relate the large dog training to tiny dogs. I have 5 Yorkies who are older. I wish I had had these videos back then.

I got a puppy 17 weeks ago and this channel really helped me ride through what I call 'puppy hell' to get to where my now six month old pup is a well adjusted teenager. It was a rough ride but now I am glad I could run the videos nonstop during my anxious days of thinking "What did I get myself into?" 😉 Have fun with your puppy!
@@1_viewer the first few months are always the hardest but it's so worth it in the end. Puppy hell is a fitting name for that period lol. I've always had pups and dogs in my life buy my wife has never owned a puppy only has had grown dogs so it'll be interesting to see how she adjusts😂.

I’ve trained 300 street dogs in Baja and placed them in homes. We call their breed Baja Blends. They are sweet loving and intelligent. You are a fortunate to have one Zak.

I want to say we've all forgotten to take the puppy out after a nap and missed multiple cues prior to an accident before, it happens.

Biscuits is so cute!! She looks like a little miniature lab mix. She is really smart, too--catching on really quickly. She took right to the collar, harness and leash. Not all puppies adapt that quickly.

I got my puppy this summer, and you don't even know how many times I was in Bree's position, on the floor half in half out of the crate afraid to move and possibly wake the puppy that was finally asleep in her crate. :D She's 9 months now, maybe not too far off from Biscuits' age since there's the delay in production. We are working on chill out in the house, so she was hanging out with me while I watched this video. She was doing such a great job, but then Biscuits was crying in the crate and she just needed to fix it. Hmm. Dog on laptop maybe not the best thing for it.
PLEASE do a series on a fearful/unsure dog.
I drum it into my puppy students: catch the behaviour you want and reward it every time. I tell them to wear clothes with pockets in the house and treats in bowls around the house so that any time pup does something you like, you are able to reward him. I make sure they know that from day one, we set up the puppy for success and don't give them a chance to get it wrong. Well done Zak LOL!
Omg! She looks like my Shelby!!! I cannot wait! We did a DNA in her and she is Pomeranian Chihuahua Labrador mix. She is super cute and sweet!! She loves to burrow under blankets.

Just finished watching your first episode in your new series. I love that you have the DIGGS crate. We bought one for our 10 month doodle when he was 9 weeks old after having an accident in the old kind of wire crate - he got his jaw stuck in the wire!!!! It was an emergency trip to the vet! He was fine just very shook up, but we immediately ordered the DIGGS, and borrowed a plastic one until it arrived. He is now almost 11 months and he LOVES his DIGGS … WE HAVE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES with him wanting to go in it and started sleeping thru the night at 10 weeks old. We LOVE ❤️ our DIGGS
Oh wow! So scary! Did you have to cart the crate with him to the vet? I bet he was so freaked out and screaming!
@@jenmontzingo my husband actually bent the wires to get him out and yes poor little guy was screaming, it was awful and I was sure I would never get him in a crate again - but he loves the Digg especially when I open the side door he actually goes in there all the time to take naps

Okay letting the dog win and sleep in the bed for a couple hours was the most realistic part of this training 😂 sometimes sleep wins over determination lol

I forgot it’s good when dogs look at you, whenever I lock eyes with my dog we have a staring contest. And he can stare deep in my soul for a long time 😩😂
My first 24 hours with my dog was p great!! She piddled during the night because I missed a potty outing and she pooped IMMEDIATELY after breakfast, but her potty training went SUPER well because I listened to your tips and went out VERY frequently, especially during the night.

Everytime I watch your videos I can't wait to start a training all over again. I have an older dog and I still do training but I have to admit I miss the beginning. Love your videos!!!!
I have found kindred spirits in you and Bree. I foster puppies from fly-in communities and you are so right when you say each one has a learning curve. I LOVE that you and Bree show the oopsies and flexibility it takes to work with a pup. Can you please do a series working with TWO puppies? Often fosters have to take on multiples until enough foster homes are found.

I'll be here for socializing with new people!! My dog is p good with it with new people at her house, but she still steps away from people on walks and shies away from new hands outside of the home. Food helps of course.

Zak you are so wonderful with how you respond to these dogs..when we got our whippet puppy 14 months ago my husband said...he will not be allowed on the couch and definitely not on our bed sleeping with us...in the end my husband encouraged both 😅😍 would not have it any other way..xx

Great video Zak! I just got a new puppy @ 8wks old, 2 weeks ago. Your books & videos are extremely helpful for me. It's been about 16 years since I raised a young puppy, some of the info being outdated, some forgotten. I appreciate your positive & ethical training formats & reality training. I'm new to your channel, but have been watching as many videos as possible & I'm halfway thru revolution w/ guide to next. I'm excited to follow Biscuits series! Keep up the excellent work! I'm so excited for this series! Seeing you train a small puppy is great as I have a toy poodle puppy! So far my main issues are barking too much sometimes, being really nervous of new people despite trying to socialize her, nervous of other dogs and mild separation anxiety. Biscuits is so so cute!! Also wanted pupbox but they unfortunately stopped shipping to my location 😕

She is so adorable! I'm gonna love this series. We adopted a Chihuahua mix puppy a few months ago. She is now potty trained and knows basic commands, but she can be a pill. That's okay because we love her.

🥰🥰 LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, I did the same thing on the crate training and OMG 😱 MY PUPPY WAS AFRAID OF THE CRATE AND I can’t believe that she’s is sleeping in her crate with the door closed in just 1 time training🥰 she’s not scared anymore and she slept the whole night . She did potty in the crate I put her a wewepad 🥰🥰 THANKYOU SO MUCH ZAK 🥰

We have an 8 week old, first night he lasted 5 hours in crate and then ended up sleeping with us, glad to see this happens to the professionals too! He now goes until about 3-4am, just struggling to settle him down after that toilet break! Will be watching with interest! Thank you

It takes a while to readjust to having eagle eye on a puppy during the first few months -- especially after not having a puppy in a long time. Good luck. Brave = stubborn in some cases LOL good luck! It will be fun to watch -- when we brought our puppy home we brought a big teddy bear with us and let all the litter mates and mama roll all over and get their scent on it and then I put that in the crate with our puppy and that seemed to help a lot.
I need all the tips. Our pup will be born in a week or two and I have been out of the dog game for too long. Definitely subbed and ready to learn!

Im getting my first puppy in 2 weeks. Ive always had dogs, but they were puppies when i was also very small, and i have had my own senior which i trained. But he was potty trained and had ok manners. So i no problem training sit, leash walking, the `come` commando and how to socolize a dog… but the puppy phase will be new… so this is my 3rd puppy series i see from you! Thank you!

I also wanted to say we used the Diggs groove tool in the crate to help train him that the crate was OK, works like a charm - used to 6 months of age, he doesn’t need it anymore, kind of like a baby pacifier
