Way harder. It's one thing to guess dates based on general style. It's something else to try distinguishing German Baroque from French Baroque or Italian Baroque. You've got to be a musicologist or know as much as one to even hope to get that stuff right.

A few years ago, I went to go see Ray Chen perform in Brisbane. This is when violin was just a hobby of mine and I wouldn’t miss it if I dropped it. But after the concert, it inspired me to get more serious about violin and I’ve moved schools to a school that will help me focus more on music and I aspire to be a professional violinist when I graduate high school. Violin is now the centre of my entire life and all because of Ray Chen. I’ve been waiting years to see him again and when I saw tickets for sale in March, I started to get so excited and counted down the days from when I bought the tickets. He’s performing tomorrow night and I can’t even begin to explain how much this means to me to be able to see another concert of the very person that changed my life.

Why do I like these pieces much better than the more "famous" ones?
Because they have the luster of novelty...
most of these pieces are really really famous - they are just not featured by twoset that often
the pieces they used are super famous, they're just time periods that are not usually featured on twoset (renaissance/baroque). if you liked these and want other suggestions that are similar, then please feel free to let me know!
@@petitecontrebassiste Yes I'd like to know some of them actually. And well, they're not as famous as many of the iconic overused pieces everyone has heard before. As a non-musician I haven't heard any of these and I really like them better then some of the same composer's more iconic pieces.
