My brother lives about 2 miles from you. Like another commenter said, your shop is bigger than my house! Your shop is absolutely a dream! Linn, you go girl! Your doing things I can only dream of. 👍👍
My sister lives not to far from where you moved in VA. She had power out for 1-1/2 days. And that was a real struggle. Congrats on seizing the reins and trying to address/redress those issues. And also good notes on those "black" box DC inverters. They are like iPhones in terms of long term maintenance and care.
You are lucky that they sent you a brand new one. I received Lycan 5000 with a lot of scratches on the inverter. When I tested the capacity of this generator, it is shown more than 5000 watts. I will test to see how it charges my Hyundai Kona ev later
Nice setup. Would clearly label the AC box and outlets that’s connected to the battery setup. Some places use red outlets and covers to show emergency power outlets.
Best video I've seen yet ... Exactly what I need but I'll never be using a plug off the grid I'm on right now.. 500.00 a month for electricity alone!!!! Thank you so much I can let sun panel do everything I need ... I knew it. But now I know I must add the little breaker box to remove 2 power grids off the the main breaker box - There's only 5 maybe for this whole house. The refrigerator is the only thing that runs 24/7 ---
A very large and expensive project, interesting! During power outages I like to carve spoons and never open the refrigerator (I put a chair in front of the door). Kerosene lamps and candles provide light.
I think this can be used kind of like a power bank, say i live on a rental property and only got 110v 15 amp outlet to my shed, but if i had this i could have more power from the same power sorce? Would that be correct?
Hi Curtis, Yes you could use it that way to boost the power and add circuits. Basically you are filling the Lycan up with a smaller power source and channeling it through a bigger system. That would be pretty cool use of it!
Wow, what a great video!! Really love it and looking forward to more of your videos! I'm definitely planning on purchasing the Lycan 5000. Eventually, maybe two of them in hopes of actually taking my house off of the grid. How long would a Lycan 5000 Power Box, run a 12000 BTU, 10 Amp portable AC unit?
Could you run a central ac unit in a 1700sf home in Florida if solar panels were hooked up? And secondly, can you hook it up so it only comes on if the main power source goes down in an outage? Thanks
The output is only 120v. I believe most central AC units are 240v, so Lycan 5000 could not power central air. There are inverters to boost 120v to 240v, but I'm not educated about them. Other viewers have an opinion? It could power window or portable units, as those are usually 120v. That is our plan with our L-5000....
So, it looks like it has pass through ability. Can I have a small generator and solar hooked up at the same time to charge it? 2 inputs at the same time?
How to you get the Renogy DC Home app to recognize five Smart Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries? The proceedures are not clear, I can only see three batteries, even though the additional three lithium batteries are connected up using the Anderson Connector for the Lycan 5000. Anyone know the proper proceedure, because the Renogy manual is lacking. Thanks!!
The wiring of that sub panel is triggering my OCD. Please tell me you will neaten that up in the future. Otherwise great video lots of useful information as usual.
Why is it you're running a gas generator oh that's right you want to spend $9,000 a year on gas gas generators so cheap but no one ever takes in the cost of gas and what it cost to run 24/7 365 days a year I just gave you a rough estimate of what it would cost I have a gas generator Google now people might be starting to think about electric generator that's charges with solar panels.
Good video. I find the way you present your videos attractive. But this time, the sound of your voice is not pleasant to hear. Your breathing is clearly present. And when you start talking, your voice explodes. With your other videos, the sound is finer tuned.

A very good Saturday afternoon to you all from Wellington Somerset in the UK

It's a small world!

That Lycan 5000 looks like a monster gaming PC :)

Good for you, and the business
Sparky here, make sure that your surplus is being either fed to the grid or properly grounded, you will probably need more grounding rods in series.
Very handy solution and system, worth looking into
Good video. Was thinking of doing the same thing. Now I know how
Very nice introduction to the system. Im in MD, so we did not have as bad a time rthis winter as the folks inVirgina.
If you get a emergency power switch for your house you could power the whole house/shop from the unit without rewiring a couple of circuits.
Awesome stuff Linn, thanks for the info! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
As soon as I saw all those wires I knew I was out. Haha.
I've started to look into getting a transfer switch. Off to a rocky start but I'll get there.
I've got some plans for a transfer switch too, that will be a future video. Just checked out your channel, nice work!
A very large and expensive project, interesting! During power outages I like to carve spoons and never open the refrigerator (I put a chair in front of the door). Kerosene lamps and candles provide light.
Thanks for the overview.
Great video and I am very interested in this Lycan system.
Thanks Josh!
16:31 your son is thinking more critically than me.

Can it be setup to power 240V ?
Not this one
I wonder whats the bottom line of this LYCAN unit and a breakdown of spare parts and or additional batteries?
How does this compare to the EcoFlow Max Pro w/ 2 batteries?
Good
Nice 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Link,
The one significant piece that I haven't seen is the cost of system in your shop.
Darn autocorrect Linn
I have links in the description to the products.
What would an 8 battery system look like? Would like to see a video like this with an 8 battery system. No on-grid power
The wiring of that sub panel is triggering my OCD. Please tell me you will neaten that up in the future. Otherwise great video lots of useful information as usual.
Why is it only around 100V solar?
That's just stupid. @4,4kW that's only around 3 panels and 80A which makes for huge wire gauges.
If it could support 200-400V DC, it could also give the option of connecting to a modern car to use the car as a generator.

That´s pretty cool! I´m saving the money! Thank you!
What is a Ground loop ?
not to mention you lose 7% converting from 120V to 48V DC and another 7% from 48V DC to AC.

How to get rid of LYCAN 5000 Emergency Power System
1st view and like

Is this safe to keep in a room and run an ac in ? And if I do how long would the ac last from full power ? Would you mind making a video out of it ?
