I beat TEA recently, so I can finally reply to this. It all depends on what the goal is. Do the content as a regular person with a varying group and prog at it for months? Or get 7 professionals for faster results with a focus on entertainment content? While I was lucky enough to help him with Extremes and this, I can see the positives of doing what Rich did and get other top players to help out and prog and improve. Besides, the really late night sessions are brutal and I’m still part normie and gotta be up early.
I'm glad he's having people who know what they're doing give him advice in voice chat instead of getting advice from chat where 90% of the info is unreliable
I wouldn't say that high of a percentage is unreliable it's just that there both types of info there and with Asmon being unfamiliar with the fights he doesn't know which to follow.

There's a clear difference from his raid attempts on his second channel vs. his first/main channel even though they're both streamed. On his second channel he didn't face-cam, used voice chat with the people in his party, and focused on the fight. On his first channel it's the opposite. This is what Soul meant by he's just playing the game. In this video he just played the fight like a regular player.
I agree. Not to say he doesn't enjoy the game while streaming, he's interacting with chat, commenting on the events on screen, trying to engage the viewers. Ultimately his attention is split; though asmond is good at splitting attention, this is full focused raiding. Which is good to see.
I don't doubt he can clear all the content, biggest question is how long it'll take - he's better than the avg player starting out, possibly better than some raiders I know now lol
It’s not really hard content. And he has experienced players with him. Oh and don’t. Other saying “min ilvl and no echo” because that’s pretty much the same conditions everyone uses when they first cleared it a while back.
I hope he uses this team as his static when he goes for ultimates down the road, they seem knowledgeable and helpful. And can offset mentor twitch chat.

You are literally expecting 7 other people to wait for you to "figure everything out" and enjoy yourself while they suffer. (not including actual progging time after you watch a guide 1 week in)
I personally love progression raiding. And I also see why some groups would require you to either know the fight or atleast have watched a video about it. Pick up groups only last for an hour maybe 2 at best. They want to clear the fight in said time. Not everyone wants to finish a certain fight with progression everytime. So for the fights I think are going to be awesome in progression I find like minded spirits which are usually my fc/guild/clan mates topped off with people from friendlist(s). I did watch some guides for fights in FFXIV thou. Each has their own playstyle and both sides should respect eachother and kindly decline grouping up when the visions don't match ;)

If you want blind progression, you either have to do week 1 raiding or find a static that will do blind prog. Don't go into pf and expect people to play nice if you don't know the fight. It doesn't matter what accomplishments you have in other MMO's, if you think that lends you some credibility, fine. But don't be an elitist over it.
I don't know how far you're in, or if you're only watching Asmon's streams, but it gets to a whole new level of not only storytelling, but musical composition in Shadowbringers
I think "Asmongold" is who Zack is when he has to entertain an audience while playing so viewers don't get bored and leave. Whereas "Zackrawrr" is who he is when he doesn't have the pressure of being a streamer. His off-work personality in a sense.

My 2cents on the blind run thing. Blind normal/hard. Guide Savage/Extreme. Even top tier "race to first" groups are doing a lot of info sharing while they prog. Even when you use guides you can partially blind. Watch/study up to next major mechanic. Once you got that down, pull guide up to study next. Asmon could easily do "2 blind pulls" then start on the guide thing. All in "blind only" is insanity. Especially for a tank. Entertaining for those that want to see Asmon angry and frustrated maybe but otherwise bad content.
@@AceStrife Facts, skill and reaction time will trump silly guides every time. I have savage clears that my buddy can’t do, and I did them all in a pug group with no guides and usually 2-3 sprouts. These raids are only really difficult if you’re not used to raiding of any kind, and they’re no fun when you 100% know what’s going to happen before it happens.
You don't need a guide for extreme fights at all they are designed to be cleared in one lockout by good players day one and if he wants to do Ultimate it will be good reactive practice def should have comms tho

I think it's okay to bring that up most of the time. But the annoying part is that people only bring it up after someone successfully clears. Like sure, let people know when they're looking at a guide, or when they're watching a clear video. But bringing it up after someone clears is just putting down other people's accomplishments.

That was so well executed with everyone in voice comms and with good understanding. As well, it was great to get the perspective from Dom and the others from the other Savages yet also how they change across the further expacs.
I gotta say, this is facinating listening to this. everyone working as a well oiled machine, asmon just another cog in it, calm and collected even when over half the raid goes down. Also find it funny he went and talked to Void Bunny to find out about ERP, and now that player is a part of the raid team, doing a damn good job at it.
Seeing all of these level 80s to Asmongold’s 63 really shows how much a devoted group of community(some alts because Dom said “when I did the fight on Dom” implying obviously he has an alt and maybe he made this as a fun thing to be seen and unique and join help Asmongold) So it’s nice to see a bunch of these veterans helping him out and being really cool and all. It’ll be so good when Asmon gets all his raids, but especially when he gets to shadowbringers and that big 80.
This is definitely the format you should use for when you attempt ultimates. Being in voice comms is a must and do it on your secondary channel again if that lets you focus better.
Kind of wish dom would have committed to character and thrown in some lines. "You know this ain’t no 10-second race." “It doesn’t matter whether you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning.” "Chat doesn't matter. The most important thing is the people in this room. The way the raids work, they are released in sets of 4. Like A1 to A4 were released on Heavensward's release, or at least very close to it, and alongside their Savage versions. A5-A8 and their Savages then came out later in Patch 3.2, A9-A12 were Patch 3.4. The raids and their rewards from each sets stays relevant until the release of the next one, or end of Expansion for the last set. You get different "tokens" (for lack of better word) as loot from the raids that you can then in town turn in for gear, the different raids drop "tokens" used for different pieces and the 4th one also gets you weapons so you need to somewhat farm all 4 to get a full set of gear from the Raids.

Yea I figured it would become a lot harder for him to take on raids haphazardly as he's been for long. Especially from Stormblood on. I like the way Asmon has been handling his videos for MSQ progression but he should definitely approach Savage content in this format from here on. It'll be a lot less stressful for him.
i believe what we saw here is the true Zack, Asmongold is just a facade. As an introvert you get told, you should be extrovert basicly!! and Asmongold is his version of it but its not his true self and thats why its sometimes confusing to see two different guys. For example he makes speaches before every Ff14 session but tells rich he is not a speech giver. i am the same in that manner so i can tell.
First time I actually watched his boss fight from beginning to end. Usually I would skim for extreme emotional moments. Those can be fun, but I would like to see more of this.
While you can never really replicate the feeling of doing it when it was current content because of nerfs/class changes/new classes, it is still a big achievement to complete it min Ilvl + no echo.
The only reason this fight almost killed the raiding back when it first came out was because every class...including bard and machinist(there was no dancer yet) were casters. Its was ass.
I think what Dom didn't communicate properly, and maybe because he doesn't actually know, is that until Stormblood they used to nerf fights after the raid tier was over. So all of these fights have significantly lower dps checks and mechs hit less hard, but once you hit SB that stops being the case. Fights aren't nerfed any more, so they are still pretty similar to the way they were at launch, besides potency/general job skill rearranging that makes certain classes hit like a truck compared to what they did in 4.0 This isnt to say that clearing 2.x/3.x stuff now doesnt matter, just explaining the spike in difficulty Dom was talking about
For real though, prog groups represent like 1% os svavge raiders which represent like 10 or 20% of the actual population. His chats gotta stop acting like they were there during world first prog and didn't just get 7 man carried through it
I hope he actually has learned his lesson and will only do Savage with discord and his static from this point forward. There is so much else he can entertain his stream with outside of MINE raids blind/no comms. For his own sanity as much as ours.

As Zack/ Asmongold have said on stream before "all you guys look alike I'mma be honest the smart guys and dumbasses there's no difference between you guys when all chat is screaming at me. yeah I'm sorry but in my eyes you all look alike." and he's not wrong There are those Asmongold and zack fans who are just insane. they want to help and so they try to coach the man tell him everything he needs to do or tell him he needs to do it this way because they've done it this way. its a nightmare and its no wonder the guy gets so stressed out. if people would just sit and commentate without the levels of extreme that often gets seen in his chat he'd better be able to play the game. fun fact playing a game for thousands of people to watch and playing the game by yourself as a non streamer are two very big different things. streamers screw up more and mess up more when playing because there's more pressure not to humiliate yourself in front of a thousand random people most of which while being online and hidden by anonymity are going to be dicks. even if you are jesting how's he to differentiate you from the 800 other people being serious? if you want to watch and encourage the man to do things show support a simple heart in the chat or "you got this." is better than going "dude how'd ya wipe there! ez game."

That point about one-shot mechanics is very true lol Did O12S with my static a while back. Even unsynced and with one tank and 5 DPS that shit was hard as balls.
What impressed me the most in this fight? NONE in the chat, cracked speaker, the entire fight. THAT is what makes a great "team". Screaming does nothing, but confuse. And the best, most realistic comment to me? "It's SO much easier with COMMS" Absolutely, FACT. When done as above. Oh, and yeah, it was cool to finally hear the Dominator.
Alexander raid is no joke even to this day. I had to clear this recently with Blue Mage raid and it was still pretty hard. A lot still have this misconception about Blue Mages being an OP class but they failed to realize most of our skills are under GCD, HP pool are much lower, MP hungry, and our Healer spec is equivalent to a lv20 conjurer. There are things you can cheese but that for too less than anyone expect.

There's a clear difference from his raid attempts on his second channel vs. his first/main channel even though they're both streamed. On his second channel he didn't face-cam, used voice chat with the people in his party, and focused on the fight. On his first channel it's the opposite.
This is what Soul meant by he's just playing the game. In this video he just played the fight like a regular player.
I agree. Not to say he doesn't enjoy the game while streaming, he's interacting with chat, commenting on the events on screen, trying to engage the viewers. Ultimately his attention is split; though asmond is good at splitting attention, this is full focused raiding. Which is good to see.
I like that Jacien is also a mainstay in his group. He's been a great POTD guide as well. Asmon got a solid family.

Current savages are pretty easy. It's justa lot of progging through mechanics, but once you got them down it's pretty straightforward
It’s not really hard content. And he has experienced players with him. Oh and don’t. Other saying “min ilvl and no echo” because that’s pretty much the same conditions everyone uses when they first cleared it a while back.

FF content is really easy for people who've raided high end content prenerf in WoW. It's a fraction of the difficulty.

@@drowningin not disagreeing but "it's my sub money and I'll play how I want" also applies to other people. if you gonna make 7 other people reprog for a week and waste their time they have all the right to ask you to watch a guide or boot. crashing and burning for easy mechanics the group has already progged for x amount of time before you joined only to have you not remotely know whats going on is frustrating as well. You are literally expecting 7 other people to wait for you to "figure everything out" and enjoy yourself while they suffer. (not including actual progging time after you watch a guide 1 week in)

I personally love progression raiding. And I also see why some groups would require you to either know the fight or atleast have watched a video about it. Pick up groups only last for an hour maybe 2 at best. They want to clear the fight in said time. Not everyone wants to finish a certain fight with progression everytime.
So for the fights I think are going to be awesome in progression I find like minded spirits which are usually my fc/guild/clan mates topped off with people from friendlist(s).
I did watch some guides for fights in FFXIV thou.
Each has their own playstyle and both sides should respect eachother and kindly decline grouping up when the visions don't match ;)

If you want blind progression, you either have to do week 1 raiding or find a static that will do blind prog. Don't go into pf and expect people to play nice if you don't know the fight. I think "Asmongold" is who Zack is when he has to entertain an audience while playing so viewers don't get bored and leave. Whereas "Zackrawrr" is who he is when he doesn't have the pressure of being a streamer. His off-work personality in a sense.
nice to hear the party while they do it too this time. Honestly, glad he did voice coms. He seemed to enjoy having comms too. Asmon has always said he enjoys just the hanging with peeps and friends in game and progressing as something he loves. He found it in WoW and he found it in FF14. ♥
My 2cents on the blind run thing. Blind normal/hard. Guide Savage/Extreme. Even top tier "race to first" groups are doing a lot of info sharing while they prog.
Even when you use guides you can partially blind. Watch/study up to next major mechanic. Once you got that down, pull guide up to study next.
Asmon could easily do "2 blind pulls" then start on the guide thing. All in "blind only" is insanity. Especially for a tank. Entertaining for those that want to see Asmon angry and frustrated maybe but otherwise bad content.
@@AceStrife Facts, skill and reaction time will trump silly guides every time. I have savage clears that my buddy can’t do, and I did them all in a pug group with no guides and usually 2-3 sprouts. These raids are only really difficult if you’re not used to raiding of any kind, and they’re no fun when you 100% know what’s going to happen before it happens.

I don't understand the argument of 'it was so much harder back then' like, okay, it was. He can't go back in time and experience old potency changes, ffs people just let him have fun.
I think it's okay to bring that up most of the time. But the annoying part is that people only bring it up after someone successfully clears. Like sure, let people know when they're looking at a guide, or when they're watching a clear video. But bringing it up after someone clears is just putting down other people's accomplishments.

That was so well executed with everyone in voice comms and with good understanding. As well, it was great to get the perspective from Dom and the others from the other Savages yet also how they change across the further expacs.

This is definitely the format you should use for when you attempt ultimates. Being in voice comms is a must and do it on your secondary channel again if that lets you focus better.
Kind of wish dom would have committed to character and thrown in some lines. "You know this ain’t no 10-second race." “It doesn’t matter whether you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning.” "Chat doesn't matter. The most important thing is the people in this room. The way the raids work, they are released in sets of 4.
Like A1 to A4 were released on Heavensward's release, or at least very close to it, and alongside their Savage versions.
A5-A8 and their Savages then came out later in Patch 3.2, A9-A12 were Patch 3.4.
The raids and their rewards from each sets stays relevant until the release of the next one, or end of Expansion for the last set.
You get different "tokens" (for lack of better word) as loot from the raids that you can then in town turn in for gear, the different raids drop "tokens" used for different pieces and the 4th one also gets you weapons so you need to somewhat farm all 4 to get a full set of gear from the Raids.
Seeing you play through this content that I haven’t done myself yet is making me want to play through this content.

Yea I figured it would become a lot harder for him to take on raids haphazardly as he's been for long. Especially from Stormblood on. I like the way Asmon has been handling his videos for MSQ progression but he should definitely approach Savage content in this format from here on. It'll be a lot less stressful for him.

i believe what we saw here is the true Zack, Asmongold is just a facade. As an introvert you get told, you should be extrovert basicly!! and Asmongold is his version of it but its not his true self and thats why its sometimes confusing to see two different guys. For example he makes speaches before every Ff14 session but tells rich he is not a speech giver. i am the same in that manner so i can tell.
First time I actually watched his boss fight from beginning to end. Usually I would skim for extreme emotional moments. Those can be fun, but I would like to see more of this.

While you can never really replicate the feeling of doing it when it was current content because of nerfs/class changes/new classes, it is still a big achievement to complete it min Ilvl + no echo.
The only reason this fight almost killed the raiding back when it first came out was because every class...including bard and machinist(there was no dancer yet) were casters. Its was ass.

I think what Dom didn't communicate properly, and maybe because he doesn't actually know, is that until Stormblood they used to nerf fights after the raid tier was over. So all of these fights have significantly lower dps checks and mechs hit less hard, but once you hit SB that stops being the case. Fights aren't nerfed any more, so they are still pretty similar to the way they were at launch, besides potency/general job skill rearranging that makes certain classes hit like a truck compared to what they did in 4.0
This isnt to say that clearing 2.x/3.x stuff now doesnt matter, just explaining the spike in difficulty Dom was talking about

You know how in single player JRPG's, the main character wakes up in his mom's house, starts at level 1, meets people along the way under various circumstances who eventually join the party and they go on a grand adventure? This is it boys.
I still don't get when I see the clips of the chat bullying him about not being able to beat one of the static killers. Like this shit was hard and unless you watched a guide or literally stopped what you were doing to read your debuff when some weird shit happened.

As Zack/ Asmongold have said on stream before "all you guys look alike I'mma be honest the smart guys and dumbasses there's no difference between you guys when all chat is screaming at me. yeah I'm sorry but in my eyes you all look alike." and he's not wrong There are those Asmongold and zack fans who are just insane. they want to help and so they try to coach the man tell him everything he needs to do or tell him he needs to do it this way because they've done it this way. its a nightmare and its no wonder the guy gets so stressed out. if people would just sit and commentate without the levels of extreme that often gets seen in his chat he'd better be able to play the game. fun fact playing a game for thousands of people to watch and playing the game by yourself as a non streamer are two very big different things. streamers screw up more and mess up more when playing because there's more pressure not to humiliate yourself in front of a thousand random people most of which while being online and hidden by anonymity are going to be dicks. even if you are jesting how's he to differentiate you from the 800 other people being serious? if you want to watch and encourage the man to do things show support a simple heart in the chat or "you got this." is better than going "dude how'd ya wipe there! ez game."

Alexander raid is no joke even to this day. I had to clear this recently with Blue Mage raid and it was still pretty hard. A lot still have this misconception about Blue Mages being an OP class but they failed to realize most of our skills are under GCD, HP pool are much lower, MP hungry, and our Healer spec is equivalent to a lv20 conjurer. There are things you can cheese but that for too less than anyone expect.
How many heal actions can blue mage gain access to and what are they? I picked it blue mage recently but haven't leveled it yet?
I thought they said he cant do the Ultimate, not the savage. Idk
