Everybody say feared but men like J Prince don't want to be feared they just want to be respected and honored for their work. His body of work as a whole is absolutely amazing. Nothing but love and respect for JPrince.
For sure, look up the great migration, a lot of southern African Americans left the South for the manufacturing jobs of the North, I.e. Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, etc.
U can obtain a island brother u just gotta work for it like the brother J. j prince is from The same spots we are from and he made it, u can too continue, to prosper from Tx.👍🏼🤘🏼
I'm from Detroit and I was raised on the Rap-a-lot sound in the early 90's. I was in the 9th grade in 1988 when the Geto Boys first came out and Scarface, Willie Dee and Bushwick Bill were the southern version of NWA and was my favorite group. That's all you heard bumpin in the hood in everybody's rides on the Eastside while dudes was sellin dope back then.

You dont need street depth to understand that you should not be in hostile territory. Diddy and Biggie miscalculated thinking they could calm the savage beast.
Exactly 💯 how much street depth do you need to understand that a whole damn label wants to kill you and their saying it on records influencing millions more to hate you, I'm from N.Y. and I immediately knew that he should have not been out there, just like many other New Yorkers said, you gotta know when to lay low, I mean c'mon you had little cease and Biggie riding around L.A. with no security like shit was cool, I don't care if your from my city or not foolish is just foolish.
Kenneth Bonney I would never understand Puffs excitement to be out here and to be so open about it so soon after Pac died. I’m from LA, and was a kid when that happened and even I said why did he have that man out here? It made no sense. He didn’t even try to mend the relationship, just came out here partying and carrying on. I feel if it was the other way around with Big dying in the middle of that beef, Pac would have definitely been working behind the scenes to get this right and at least calm the tension and not just be in NY partying. I think that speaks to what Prince was saying, you gotta know how the streets work. From all accounts, Big didn’t really want to be out here, but he kept getting reassurance from Puff it was cool, but Puff didn’t go through the proper channels to make sure that was true.. he was just saying it. Shit is sad man, Bigs death was so avoidable.

I remember feeling the same way about Biggie being in L.A. so soon after 2pac died. I'm from the West Coast, I knew that the west wasn't welcoming Big, and Puff with open arms. I'm sure J. Prince warned them. I remember thinking, wow, these guys are gonna get killed.
Big was probably just so desperate to try and calm down the situation and probably thought by going there he can somehow convince them that he had nothing to do with it, you get that vibe from even watching his last few interviews.
Man, J Prince didnt get to the level he has by being a dummy. He absolutely right on Puff and Big having a surface level understanding of street politics. Specifically, California street politics! Especially, so soon after Pac was murdered. I remember being at the old Arco Arena in Sacramento, CA (this scene was in the Biggie bio-pic Notorious) for a concert that Puff and Biggie were headlining. I think this concert was only a month or two after Pac died. When Biggie came on stage he gave a kind of nervous laugh and said: "What up Cali?" Now thats a very innocent remark. Most musicians give it up to the city or state they are visiting. I took it as Biggie giving daps to California. But I immediately thought when Biggie said this: "Oh, oh," because even though I thought Big was giving credit or daps to California I thought that people in the crowd including some of my homeboys I was in the crowd with were going to take it the wrong way. Sure enough as soon as Biggie said what he did. Cats start throwing Hennessey bottles at the stage, the crowd was angry and started pushing up on the stage trying to get at Big and Puff. See even though it was an innocent non-violent remark Biggie made (maybe). It was took by the street cats in that Northern California audience as: "What up Cali, Pac is dead, I'm the real boss, whats happening!" Of course Biggie said none of that but the perception was Biggie just disrespected California, it's ON! I knew without a doubt after that night that there were people in California who were going to position themselves to do harm to Big and Puff. Keep in mind Sacramento is in Northern California 400 miles from Los Angeles where Suge was from but this anger for Big and Badboy and Puff was in the entire state. Salutes to J. Prince for being a succesful business man and a scholar of these streets nationwide!!!
Arealproducer my man we had luke in the south east states like florida Georgia south carolina north carolina alabama n Tennessee we didn't hear bout j n geto boys til 89 after nwa i guess south west states like texas n Louisiana knew bout jprince before 89 tho
My dad is 10yrs older than J and talks the same way acts the same way and most men from those eras dont play disrespect on NO level but actually are the nicest kind of people to talk to and deal with and because of that they dont want respect to be taught because all it is something you should grant someone, because cuz I don't play no disrespect and stand on it your militant or considered dangerous because if you dont let shit slide as they think you should your mean, why isnt the person being disrespectful put in their place? OGs from the streets are really about serious business not gangster shootem up shit they actually want peace and unity amongst each other, my dad was known by 0 disrespect and calling out foul play but was known as a gangster but never shot or laid a finger on anyone. People look at you as the villain when you hit back the person that hit you first such hypocrisy.
Right, most these wannabes faking the funk, and they're moving backwards, like u said gangsta isn't shootem up shit its handle your business shit as a man💯 stay true to yourself and stay 10 toes down on some stationary shit😤🤘🏼

James Prince is one of the most stand up men to ever grace Gods green earth...respect to you sir,you are a gleaming example of a black man with integrity, he's also the first black man I've ever known to own his own island!!! Yes people this clear thinking man of the people owns his own island, and deservedly so...
Every hood doesn't operate the same. So if there's a setup, it'll be hard to tell. Someone from Brooklyn probably wouldn't catch a setup if they were in Oakland and vice versa..unless someone from that environment is familiar with the surroundings and know how to move, warns the person from out of town .
marcuss1526 I disagree you got something god given in you..and that’s instincts no amount of slang or different city gone take that away from...like Omar said in the Wire..The Street is the Street
Hmmm.... if you're outta town, you gotta always be on your guard... especially if beef is in the air. The tension was thick all over but it should have been high alert when they was in LA
J. Prince seems like a nice guy. His “feared” reputation probably came from times where he had to do what he had to do or at least let you know that he would.
"The way some of these young kids nowadays go around campaigning...where I'm from, you campaign like that, one day you get elected." - J. Prince (in a breakfast club interview....just months before 69's arrest)
You said it, Jupiter Johnson. Thanks for the kind words regarding #SorenBaker. As you can tell, he loves rap music & hip-hop culture. Today we posted another clip with James Prince where he talks with Soren about Not Becoming A Slave To Drugs & Learning From Napoleon Hill & Ken Berry. I'm a West Coast hardcore but honestly I have always have MAD LOVE for the South.....especially the whole Rap-A-Lot family......the whole No Limit family! To me they were actually not different from the West Coast. One would easily classify the Geto Boys with the likes of NWA and Scarface, Bushwick Bill and Willie D fitted well with West Coast style of rap. Mad Love for J Prince on this end!!!!
When I 1st met J in the mid-80’s he had a red benz that I found out recently he bought from the guy Suge Knight killed. He’s been well connected on the west coast since the start of the label. Also Big Mike & the Convicts influenced Snoop & them a lot. Big Mike is the “Peter Man” that Snoop referenced on a song or 2 in the beginning.
We're glad you enjoyed this interview with James Prince & one of our ones with Big Tray Deee. Enjoyed this insightful take on how J. Prince weighs his business decisions up against his street principles. Prince also has the gravitas of a national leader which speaks to his integrity and pull as a street politician.

I learned something new about the Midwest that has encouraged and motivated me. The Midwest has always been home to thee most diversified music and musicians. Knowing it played a major part in the support of j Prince and rap alot is a big deal to me. I'm from the Mid West. St.louis Missouri. Don't stop the huSTLe #ysnd
Thanks for the kind words, Big Mil. #SorenBaker has been writing about rap since the '90s. We're glad you enjoyed the interview. We appreciate your support of #UniqueAccess.
In the case of Biggie being in L.A. after Pac was shot a few months earlier. I would say it's a little bit of naivety and arrogance at the same time. Biggie in many interviews said he understood the dangers of being in L.A. but at the same time he said he felt a lot of love from the fans in L.A. So It's not like Biggie didn't understand the streets because he hustled on Brooklyn street corners, it's more of what I said earlier; naivety and arrogance got him killed, he should of waited at least a couple of years before heading back to Cali.
J Prince didn't notice that Biggie was _ready to die_ and that Puffy was ready to launch his own rap career on Biggie's dead body before Biggie left Bad Boy Entertainment.
Salutes to J.Prince dropping the uncut knowledge. Suge did "campaign in foolishness" to be the bully of the industry and 'got elected' by being arrested. And Puff & Big should have been more conscious of the street talk of their dangerous position.
J was not trying to downplay Puffy and Biggie; but rather he understood the level and directions on what was going on in the streets. You have to realize, it’s not the guys or should I say celebrities that are going at you, but the low key cats that are itching to get back at them for GP.
Soren takes the interview to a place of seriousness with his questions and let's the world see that ppl in hip hop are more than jus ignorant and can talk about anything without giving simple answers.
We appreciate that, @robertalcorn7090. Thanks for noticing. We're glad to have #SorenBaker on the team. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Biggie and Diddy didn't understand that it wasn't about only music, and the level of ignorance in the community. Plus the lyrics back then were almost challenging someone to try something. Catch 22.
What Schooly D said was run D mc and other wanted to rap like that but the label wouldn't let them Schooly D was independent that's why he was the first
In Michigan we had love for the South, the East Coast, and the West Coast. I mean the same Detroit guy you heard blasting the Geto Boys would be the same guy you heard blasting NWA, and he probably got Rakim & Big Daddy Kane in his collection.
Im from.the Sip one family reunion i met my family from chicago. Im 32 now but i was little but istill remember meeting cousin who.was on a cane from two to the head but he survived..thats exactly what he said.....

It was took by the street cats in that Northern California audience as: "What up Cali, Pac is dead, I'm the real boss, whats happening!"
Of course Biggie said none of that but the perception was Biggie just disrespected California, it's ON!

@@UniqueAccessEnt Always 💯💯💯🗽
In the case of Biggie being in L.A. after Pac was shot a few months earlier. I would say it's a little bit of naivety and arrogance at the same time. Biggie in many interviews said he understood the dangers of being in L.A. but at the same time he said he felt a lot of love from the fans in L.A. So It's not like Biggie didn't understand the streets because he hustled on Brooklyn street corners, it's more of what I said earlier; naivety and arrogance got him killed, he should of waited at least a couple of years before heading back to Cali.
Big is alot of things but arrogant
Puffy forced him to go, watch gene raw deal he mentions all about that. Puffy is behind his murder
Going to LA wasn’t the issue, it was staying in LA and partying in LA that got him killed. It gave his enemies enough time to put the play down

J was not trying to downplay Puffy and Biggie; but rather he understood the level and directions on what was going on in the streets. You have to realize, it’s not the guys or should I say celebrities that are going at you, but the low key cats that are itching to get back at them for GP.
