    Shelvey hasn't received a single booking in the premier league in 2018. Obviously past years, and early on in the season it implies otherwise, but surely a full half a year of football without a single booking is proof that his attitude and temperament has improved?

    • @Muistimetalli
      @Muistimetalli 6 лет назад +8

      He did get sent off in 2017/18 season against spurs though.

      Lister definitely has improved, temperment wise. Probably still hangs over him though sadly. In a managers mind anyway.

      Loftus-Cheek deserves to go. Jones robbed Lascelles from Newcastle imo. Agree with Tarkowski. Shelvey>Rose inaccurate as they're different positions, Bertrand>Rose would make more sense. Shelvey should have went instead of Henderson, and an extra attacker in Welbeck should have been sacrificed for Wilshere.

      Harrisono Taking Sesengnon would be stupid. He's good but it's too much pressure and he's only played in the Championship. He's turning 18 soon and has a Play-off final to focus on.

    I actually rate Southgate's squad selection. He's giving youth and in form players a chance rather than picking the 'big name' players.

    I'm so glad Ruben Loftus-cheek is in the squad, he was sensational against German in that friendly
    I also think leaving Wilshire out was a bad choice, yes he's injury prone, but you look at his past five seasons, and he's played most games this season! I would've taken Wilshire instead of Delph, yes he's had an amazing season but we've gone too defensive I feel..
    EDIT: I also agree a lot with the back-up option of a target man, think carol would be perfect (from a non West Ham fan) due to his ability to get a goal in the last 15 minutes

    • @jacobstevens5927
      @jacobstevens5927 6 лет назад +1

      Strebor Leinad I don’t agree he’s too injury prone and his England record isn’t great, I understand he can be a good playmaker on his day but that’s a rare occasion. Someone like delph I think is a better choice versatile and reliable this season for Man City unlike wilshire.

    • @tauseeful
      @tauseeful 6 лет назад

      Strebor Leinad I would disagree with u cauz the World Cup is a big stage and the manager wouldn't really want to risk any of his players. Jack hasnt been that great this season tbh. Delph was picked cauz he had a decent season and won with City. Also he is a great utilty player who can play a few roles. RM CM CDM LB (P.S these r the positions i hav seen him play in)

      don’t know what you’ve been watching? i’m a season ticket holder at OT, smallings a liability whenever he gets near a player, at fault for about 4 goals this season, whereas although jones makes the odd error, he’s usually reliable and always willing to put his body on the line. do think tarkowski should’ve gone ahead of cahill though.

    I'd 100% take Carroll over the likes of Welbeck. Welbeck, for all his effort, brings absolutely nothing to the table that another player can't offer. There's not a single situation that would ever arise where you look to the bench for a Plan B and think Welbeck is the man to change the game. Andy Carroll, for all his frailties, is hands down one of the best headers and biggest aerial threats in world football. If you're chasing a game late on against a team Parking the Bus, you aren't going to pass the ball into the back of the net, you need a good old fashioned lump of meat with a steel forehead to aim for, and there's no one better than Carroll. Absolutely shambles that Welbeck is going instead of him.

      Elliot Knight well mate if you had any common sense you’d know the narrative I’m and literally yourself are referring to is that Jonjo Shelvey is (in your words) a ticking time bomb despite not being booked since December whilst players like Dier, Kane and Sterling have picked up more bookings yet nobody’s calling them out for their tempers are they? He’s got a reputation he doesn’t deserve or has earned especially under Benitez, but I guess that doesn’t fit your time bomb narrative does it??🙄😜

    What people don't understand is that andy caroll is a completey strategic selection. What that means is that yes he's similarly good to Welbeck but vardy and rashford can both do what welbeck does just better. But caroll brings completely different play style. When we can't break down the oppostion, mix it up stick him on put some balls in ffs. And the arguement that welbeck has a great attitude and will run the whole game is rubbish. Tell me when will welbeck play 90 minutes when we have kane, vardy and rashford ahead of him?

So we shouldn't be getting angry at the players for every mistake like people do every year. We do not have the best national football team that much is obvious so let's just enjoy the occasion and not get butt hurt if we don't win. Miracles do happen but the chances are very low. Let's just have fun watching the best footballing nations going head to head. Hope you all enjoy the world cup :)

    Sorry but let me explain something which most will disagree or might not even understand.. Delph and Young should always start.. the reason is because they are versatile and because they are good at keeping the ball when being pressed. That is enough to get them to first 11. Also other reason is because they are versatile they can cover team mates and give freedom and ease the pressure and this is a huge boost just look at all big teams.. duhh

      Of course they don't, but at least their fans are being realistic this time.

      Hthor Hrafn Agustsson they have a chance to go to the semis. But, i dont think that will happen honestly. They should reach the quarters, but dont think they will go further. Maybe they will lose on penalties, but they will lose quarters or semis.
      Coming from a greek, who supports argentina for the world cup. Now, top 3 imo
      1 Brazil
      2 Germany
      3 Argentina
      I think germany if they get matched up with brazil they will get cocky because of brazils defeat in 2014. Brazil will get their revenge, mark my words. BUT, I agree that england have no chance of winning.

    More than half that squad is either not involved or hardly involved with England anymore

    GKs
    Butland, Pope, Pickford
    Defenders
    TAA, Trippier, Young, Rose, Dier, Stones, Walker, Maguire
    Midfielders
    Shelvey, Lallana, Henderson, Delph, Lingard, Alli, Loftus Cheek, Wilshere
    Forwards
    Sterling, Kane, Vardy, Rashford

    My England Squad
    Gk
    Jason Steele, Connor Ripley, Mark Gillespie
    Defenders
    Adam Jackson, Farrend Rawson, Billy Jones, John Brayford, Luke Chambers, Michael Mancienne, Tom Thorpe, Todd Kane
    Midfielders
    Nigel Reo-Coker, Lee Cattermole, Jack Colback, Dean Marney, Nick Powell, Josh Morris, Jack Stobbs, Adam Clayton

    Ur the only country that says language was a issue for performance😂 Joe hart couldn't perform bc he couldn't speak Italian everyother goal keeper who cant speak the language can still perform well

    • @samharris3130

      That point is very fair however, good communication between the keeper and the back line is very important, and if there’s a language barrier, there’s a real problem....

    To be fair, I gotta agree with Spencer's option to get Carroll in, good plan B, another way of attacking and he's one of the best finisher by headers

    Gareth Southgate is thinking for the future of the England. He’s being a great man for you, that’s why Sancho and Sessengon he doesn’t want to wreck their international careers.
