Just found this video while randomly watching Penn & Teller clips. You are talented guy Damien! Hopefully we'll see you perform here in the States one day.
I have to admit it's very nice to see a magician who answer to comments under his clip at youtube. It's a big point for you man! Sometimes I think we live in hard times for art of illusion. A lot people think, that even if somebody spend a lot of hours (days, weeks, months or even years) to find out some trick and master it, absolutely everyone will find out how to do it just in few seconds. And if they will not, it deffinitely MUST be a computer-made edition of the clip.
Did you put a type of powder in it? I can't remember the right name of it but it's like the one used in baby diapers? It soaks up all the water and it goes jelly like?
i love how everyone thinks i switch the cup lol this was filmed on a little flip cam in a Starbucks in London as a joke i can promise there is no editing camera cuts or switching think i might have to make another video performing this
at 0:35 you can still see the 'FULL' cup of coffee swirling in there. It is, and always has been the same cup of 'full' coffee. I only wonder how expensive the trick is to create. If it's cheap, it's a good trick. If it ends up being expensive, and the crumpling harms the trick from being re-done with the same materials (sans the cup that is visibly crumpled) I would frown upon the trick. Though it is still quite enjoyable and could work better on someone in an establishment that assumes info.
This might be a terrible guess, but I think he dropped something super-absorbent into the cup (something like a Shamwow haha) at 0:34? And maybe it was large enough that it stuck to the bottom of the cup during the 3 seconds the cup was turned over? If the cup really was empty in the end, he could've just given us a look inside the cup. Instead, he carefully semi-crushed the cup to make it seem like the cup was empty.
I think there was a quick cut in the camera and they switched the cups. Just notice how his hand is positioned on the cup before and after he shows it with the coffee in it and then puts his hand over it. Did I get you Damien?
Sponge or something at the bottom of the cup...would be my guess and the liquid is in the cup when he covers it with his hand your can see a glimpse of it
This is quite easy, he obviously used his mind to put his hand at 10000°C so that the coffee boils quickly enough to make it look it disappeared. Nearly got me Damien ;D
since he didnt fold the bottom of the cup there was probably somthing there that filled it up till there and only a few sips left in the cup to drink. thats my thought about it atleast.
mind fucked. good vid I like how theres so many people trying to say you cut the vid. the vid runs smooth no cut and face it guys he fooled you, that's his job too, no need to get technical just enjoy it.
If I were to do it. I'd prep the cup with a false bottom high up on the cup, so there's very little liquid. Then I'd either add a congealing agent, or have a shamwow at the bottom of the cup. So it would be a matter a little bend to let the fluid down to the bottom. But I'm nowhere near as good as this man. So who knows.
@damienmagic666 i think you ad something to the coffee, I dont know what it is, but our chemistry teacher showed us this on time, but it took like 30 seconds for him. The result, ad that, the liquid disapears, only a few drops are left. Thats how I think you did it. Please answar this and tell me if I am wrong or right! Great trick btw!! :)
there was a cup that was upside down so when he drank a little out of it there was an illusion that there was a full cup of coffee. but in reality the cup only had enough in there so when he drank out the cup he drank the little that was in there
I thought initially that it was a pinhole in the side covered by his thumb to keep the cofee in but then he crushed the cup now I have no idea how it was done wtf
There's a hole at the bottom, when the camera goes off the cup you quickly release the bottom where the hole was the liquid comes out and boom! Its empty? Yea? No? :D
He doesn't switch the cup out at all, you can see an unnatural splash of the coffee, if it were a full cup it would splash against the side of the cup differently. Don't believe me, try it with a glass of water. alexroxhissox is the closest to being correct.
People stop accusing Damien in video editing, use your f*cking imagination, this one is really easy to figure it out. Can't say anything more or Damien won't let it through :D
Rigged cup. There was very little coffee left in there, the rest was air. He probably puts something in it to congeal it and holds it up side down or something.

at 0:30 to 0:34 -ish, did you quickly palm something in your right hand? or maybe your left hand slightly before that? im stumped, great trick.
Don't want to spoil it but would I be on the right in thinking that the cup looks to be on the light side for one that is completely full of coffee?
Definitely no cuts in that I'm thinking I know how he did it but no camera foolery. Keep up good work Damien!
Did you put a type of powder in it? I can't remember the right name of it but it's like the one used in baby diapers? It soaks up all the water and it goes jelly like?
well then congrats man, you've stumped us all haha.
(btw, im a big fan and wasnt trying to hate, youre amazing.)
This is a great trick but wouldn't work if it wasn't being filmed. Can't believe no one has guessed it yet! Nice job dude.

yea u can see the cut in film on the wall behind him. look at the white spot and play it back a few time yull c it .

id like to examine the bottom of that cup for holes plz
Sponge or something at the bottom of the cup...would be my guess and the liquid is in the cup when he covers it with his hand your can see a glimpse of it
I am thinking exactly the same. My guess Damien threw in a piece of
"Superabsorbent polymer". Am i right?
this was shot in one continuous shot i never edited this video or done nay camera cuts ! :)
there whas a false bottom with a bit off cofee on it so when he let you see and took a sip he drank up all the coffee inside.
if u can see at 0:35 second there is coffee in the cup, u can slightly see it if u try pausing it so no he never switched cups, well done damien
thumb through bottom of cup, look when he flips the cup the hand that was out of the shot is now wet on the thumb.
Uh... when the camera pans back, you get a glimpse of the sloshing coffee again.
There was no cup switch if you look you can still see the coffee in the cup after it went off screen
Know how he did that one cool trick though imma definetley use it!!!
This is quite easy, he obviously used his mind to put his hand at 10000°C so that the coffee boils quickly enough to make it look it disappeared. Nearly got me Damien ;D

Yes we all sell our souls to satin because its such a powerful magical fabric...

that cup wasnt all filled with coffee. it was filled to the point you could see it then you drank it and made is disappear

At 0:35 you can briefly see there's still liquid in the cup as he puts his hand over it.
then why move the camera out of the way?
there was a cup that was upside down so when he drank a little out of it there was an illusion that there was a full cup of coffee. but in reality the cup only had enough in there so when he drank out the cup he drank the little that was in there
Wrong lol no camera cuts lol
he didn't swich the cup, pause exactly and you can see there's still coffee when the camera aims at the cup
you can tell its a different cup cause the level of coffee changes
There is another clue (very few people will see it) that shows you are on the right track.
its either the coffee is still there or its magic
you can actually still see the coffee just as he's putting his hand over the cup...
Nope still wrong there is nothing dropped into the coffee or any editing I'm gonna film this again and add it on instagram : @DamienMagician
Even then you can see that there is still coffee in the cup when the cup comes back into camera veiw
Dude if you look right after 0:35 you can see theres still coffe in the cup so you didnt find anything out
I found out how he did it. He switched the cups. At 35 seconds the video kinda glitches real quick and that's when he switches them
never ever tell us how to do this. I'm amazed
Surprised he didn't let us see in the cup after. Makes me think theres some kind of contraption in there.
im not going to say how it was done because that would be a jerk move but there was no cut in the film
I thought initially that it was a pinhole in the side covered by his thumb to keep the cofee in but then he crushed the cup now I have no idea how it was done wtf
The cup went out of view for a few seconds he switched cups..
Not saying he's right, but why take the camera off then?
YES! OFCOURSE there were GLASSES of coffee! Why didnt I notice? :O
Well I don't know how it's done but I feel like if he didn't crumble the cup at the end there would have been something revealed.
its kinda obvious he switched the glasses of coffee at 0:34 when the camera went off the cup
Or did he!?
dun dun dunnnn
It all about the Mojoe people.
There's a hole at the bottom, when the camera goes off the cup you quickly release the bottom where the hole was the liquid comes out and boom! Its empty? Yea? No? :D
the answer was he drank the whole thing in one gulp.
if you pause at 0:35 you can still see the coffee ? :P
I tried that one too ... now my hand is fucked up
He doesn't switch the cup out at all, you can see an unnatural splash of the coffee, if it were a full cup it would splash against the side of the cup differently. Don't believe me, try it with a glass of water. alexroxhissox is the closest to being correct.
He added polymer into the cup when he covered the top. Waited a few seconds for it to react. Its science, not magic.
I hope you cleaned that up afterwards >.>
He didn't switch any cups...
People stop accusing Damien in video editing, use your f*cking imagination, this one is really easy to figure it out. Can't say anything more or Damien won't let it through :D
well i thinnk when the carma went up some from undernieth swap cups for him so did i get it i will never know muhahaha
I KNOW... you used real magic... cause you sold your soul to satin! hahaha
i know how he did it. it was magic.
This fucked with my head, only way i can see is if he puts another cup inside, the other way up that traps the liquid.
brown paper in the cup, and he pretends to drink it... i dunno just a guess
should've let me drink it instead..
Guys its obvious that he has holes in his hands through which he can drink super fast. Its not that hard.
GUYS I FOUND OUT HOW HE DID IT... magic
no it would have spilled on table first brains would help to see that
Rigged cup. There was very little coffee left in there, the rest was air. He probably puts something in it to congeal it and holds it up side down or something.
You Couldn't be more wrong
lol i hope that was a joke. seems like one :P
Satin... SATIN... Lol, selling your soul to a piece of cloth. Well, my guess is you made a hole in the cup while the camera changed.
It's quite obvious that he has a black hole in the bottom of the cup.. everyone knows that!
so wrong wrong wrong you are all wrong lol no sponge no holes
0:34 - switch
You couldent be more wrong
Nope still wrong there is nothing dropped into the coffee or any editing I'm gonna film this again and add it on instagram : @DamienMagician
