I like this country song. It came from the heart deeply. With the trend the music is going, this is well presented. They really murdered country music.
I love this song not only for the melody, but for the lyrics too, which tell the story just like it is. There used to be so many good County Music shows on and now anyone who loves the old classics, pretty much has to stick to the internet in order to find anything that's remotely considered classic country.
Yes and they tried to slip this new country music in . Nashville forgot what made Nashville the country music captial of the world. Love this song thanks Larry beautiful song . Thanks for posting
They way he talks at about the 9:00 minute marker reminds me of a good friend of mine who passed away. There's just something real special about country music loving folks from that era that just have an air about them. I would absolutely love to meet Larry Cordle one day.
I always liked Larry Cordle written songs like Black Diamond Strings now here's another great one. Larry has a great country voice as well which combined with the guitar accompaniment of Jimmy Capps is awesome. Thanks brotherhamlet.
This song always keeps me in check with my pure country roots , and this song has a lot of meaning to my family and my life , I performed this so many times , and it gets better and better , it has such a large connection to a great vast audiance and it has reached out to soo many folks
JamesWade. You are right if we try to find it on radio. But we do have all these great videos, as well actual footage of all the great true country singers and that’s entertainment ! 🎻 🎸. Also I agree with the next comment as well, there are a few today that plays and sings true country, beside the ones in Nashville, there are the Tru Country band in Texas with Jake, his dad, Amber, and many others, my mind just went blank Lol. Oh yea Jake Penrod, MoPitney and more. You can always find great bands and singers on Broadway in Nashville, May not be on the GO Opry stage but we found several when we visited better than the big stage. A girl named Katie ( ? ) had a great band and singers. I appreciate these channels that keep looking for videos we can see and enjoy
The most truthful song ever, not aimedf at POP its aimed at the so called country music industry which did just what the song says,Murdered Country music,It all started back in the 60s with the Nashville Sound ,promoted by none other than Chet Atkins among others,Thank God for song writers like Larry Cordel& Larry Shell
I miss when country music was about the music. It didn't matter how you looked if you could sing real country music. I was born in the South in 1963 and raised on real country music. Now the recording executives run everything and country isn't edgy, raw, and real.
Justin Tubb, "What's wrong with the way that we're doin' it now?". I think that was the first song that put into words what we all were / are feeling! I think I'm right about this. Never heard it? I wonder why.
I wish I could tell Larry how often we played "Murder On Music Row" by him on our radio station WBAR 1460AM in Bartow Florida. I'm Sunflower 🌻 and my husband is Harvey Gene Morts.
I can't speak for him/her but I will say there is maybe more good music than ever being written and performed and even recorded, it just don't get played on radio and you hear it by "being in the loop" and word of mouth and going to the bars, not the "clubs"...
what a song ! none of the songs will will never performed on these programs will all be lacking a little bit of excellence , without the sheriff back there dressin' um up
This is the first I’ve seen this. I’m so happy he said that this new, what they call “country” has stolen the Country label! When I say that to people, they look at me like I have 3 heads. I think it is so wrong. This new so called “country” puts out songs with no real feeling or meaning. Just about drinking and pickup trucks. What about heart breaks??? The Grand Tour, Apartment #9, Tammy, Loretta, Vern, Kitty, Marty, Buck, Merle.... the songs today just don’t touch down deep into the marrow.
Cordle is a charming guy. Shows that even the songwriter himself or herself sometimes does not know what will resonate and become a hit. Nice guitar by Jimmy Capps. IMHO, It sums up a lot of people's feelings about "real" country music and country radio for about the last 30 years, unfortunately. Again, in my opinion, real country music on the radio continues to devolve. Songs about cutoffs, pickups, fishin' and beer are OK but not very deep or worthwhile
all we have today is modern day country Crap pure and simple .. chris stapelton gets song of the year for a one line song what kind of shit is that .. these new breed of noise makers cant hold a candle to the old time Greats singers and Writers of yesterday .
don't listen to country radio anymore.all nashville wants is a bunch of 16 year olds until they hit the age of maybe 25 and then they are kicked to the side for a bunch more 16 year olds, all i listen to anymore is classic rock.
Like every business you have to go with what sells. This especially goes with music. My dad who was born in 1900 did not like "modern" country if you could call it that. I can remember the Fruit Jar Drinkers, Crook Brothers, Possum Hunters, Roy Acuff , fiddle "break" downs, square dancers etc.
truer words were never sung after seeing the2014 CMA show, will never watch the CMA again!!!! AS A MUSICAN who watch 30 + years and all ways wont to play on CMA ,o'well money talks bull shits walks.
I love the fact that all the people nodding their heads have never been working men so to speak and after it shows Obama and Oprah it cuts to Merle and that's exactly what he looks like he's thinking
Today's "country" music all sound the same. I hardly know any of today's so call "country" singers. The classic country artists always had their own style and you knew who was going to sing before you heard their voice. Like when you hear a song by Willie Nelson, you know it's Willie Nelson by the way he plays his guitar. Willie's style is his own and no one else has that style of guitar playing. Same goes for Waylon Jennings. You know what his style of playing sounds like. But today, it all sounds the same.
This song has nothing to do with pop music- It's about the sellout of no talent fake country singers for corporate profits. Go back and listen to real country without all the electronic cover. You ever listen to a real steel guitar and a singer with a voice to express real feelings?
I like his performance way better than Alan Jackson and George Strait. No disrespect but their version is just too slick, it has too much of that '90s Nashville sound, it sort of mutes the whole point of the song. It needs to sound like an outlaw record.
I like this country song. It came from the heart deeply. With the trend the music is going, this is well presented. They really murdered country music.

like the song. it's the truth.
jd450lh Amen to that.
Great song by a great writer and performer. Lets all wish him the best fighting cancer .Good luck Larry
Yes and they tried to slip this new country music in . Nashville forgot what made Nashville the country music captial of the world. Love this song thanks Larry beautiful song . Thanks for posting
You go Larry! I couldn’t agree more with you on today’s country music. I love this song. #1
They way he talks at about the 9:00 minute marker reminds me of a good friend of mine who passed away. There's just something real special about country music loving folks from that era that just have an air about them. I would absolutely love to meet Larry Cordle one day.
I've already met him , he's my uncle.
He's Amazing though, a truly great guy.
I love Larry Cordle doing it much more than George and Alan. I also believe every word of it and the heart and souls that wrote it. Great Job Larry
Blake Borgerson
No offence to ANYONE, but I think Alan J. believes the words to Larry's song more than strait.
I always liked Larry Cordle written songs like Black Diamond Strings now here's another great one. Larry has a great country voice as well which combined with the guitar accompaniment of Jimmy Capps is awesome. Thanks brotherhamlet.

Great song! Always enjoy listening to the songwriter do their own songs!!
The country music I used to hear is no more.
Amen becuse it,s dead

No truer words ever written.
thank you, Cordle. One of the greatest songs ever
This song becomes more relevant every day, as does "Old Time Rock N Roll"
Jimmy with those sweet fills. RIP brother.

Truer words were never spoken!!!!! Thank you SIR!!
THIS ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS OF OUR TIME
Absolutely yes 💯💖💟💞💝💢
Anyone who is a fan of Jimmy Capps should order his book. The man is a legend.
I miss when country music was about the music. It didn't matter how you looked if you could sing real country music. I was born in the South in 1963 and raised on real country music. Now the recording executives run everything and country isn't edgy, raw, and real.
This is real country music. God bless us all
Exactly my feeling about how traditional country music has went!
thank you for writing such a true song
Justin Tubb, "What's wrong with the way that we're doin' it now?". I think that was the first song that put into words what we all were / are feeling! I think I'm right about this. Never heard it? I wonder why.
Just my dream. I would have loved to spend my career writing songs with these guys. It is so much more fulfilling than being on stage.
That's true country.
Great, Great post! Thanks for the list of characters attending...
I remember it well. Miss West Virginia Kentucky and Ohio
Makes me proud to be apart of his family
And that's how it's done... If it's going to be a hit, it's probably a hit right out of the chute.

LOVE IT
So true.......thank you and God Bless
Great Song , by Larry ~ Arthur
True song love it
Rip great country music
In this case, controversial means, the song TOLD THE TRUTH! The audience buying the music saw the truth in it.
This song may pertain to the pop industry, but thank God country MUSIC is just as good as it's ever been.
I can't speak for him/her but I will say there is maybe more good music than ever being written and performed and even recorded, it just don't get played on radio and you hear it by "being in the loop" and word of mouth and going to the bars, not the "clubs"...
Great upload my frend!
Thanks for your share
~Ronja
Great Song
So true. Anyone watch the ACM 2017 award show? No country there.
Which is why I wouldn't watch it.
richard severin
Don't watch the shit anymore.
Nor any of the "pat our own backs" hollywood awards BS.
Maybe the BEST....tells it like it is.........pitiful...thanks for posting
Simply the truth!!!! Hate the bro country. And tractor rap
They even told the ole possum God Rest His Soul
Larry the cold hard truth is real country.
what a song !
none of the songs will will never performed on these programs will all be lacking a little bit of excellence , without the sheriff back there dressin' um up
There sure was murder on music row!
Indeed!!
I THINK HE RIGHT

George strait and Allen Jackson do very good version of this song
BLUEBIRD. .WOW!
3 Chords & the Truth!
Love you Mr Cordle !

I remember that murder because I was in Nashville that time. My friend Jimmy Ellis also was killed back in the 80s
don't listen to country radio anymore.all nashville wants is a bunch of 16 year olds until they hit the age of maybe 25 and then they are kicked to the side for a bunch more 16 year olds, all i listen to anymore is classic rock.
Strait, Jackson and Womack singing Harmony were Great.
The best songs are written in 5 minuets. Hank did it all the time

Leuke muziek.
Marty robbins is my no1. But this song is my favourite
which is one reason I do not go to Jamboree in the Hills anymore I go to Bean Blossom instead best move I ever made
Larry is saying Music executives and third rate artists now have made country music suck.
Imagine if George Jones HAD gotten hold of that song... WOW
I don't think truer lyrics have ever been written.
Let it roll much love boys.
truer words were never sung after seeing the2014 CMA show, will never watch the CMA again!!!! AS A MUSICAN who watch 30 + years and all ways wont to play on CMA ,o'well money talks bull shits walks.

Wish I could "like" this comment 10 times more . You said a mouthful there Frank .
Pop music with 6 string banjos ain't country. And it sure as shit ain't good
I call it pop music with a little bit of a twang. Because it sure isn't country music.
Why does Whispering Bill suck so much?
I like his performance way better than Alan Jackson and George Strait. No disrespect but their version is just too slick, it has too much of that '90s Nashville sound, it sort of mutes the whole point of the song. It needs to sound like an outlaw record.
SavageGreywolf
IMO, Alan should have done it solo
with his own band, no strait.
Love Larry's recording too.
everyone fell asleep.
which is one reason I do not go to Jamboree in the Hills anymore I go to Bean Blossom instead best move I ever made
