Yep, Dimash plays several instruments but he'll never admit he's professional, saying instrumentalists study all their life and he studied singing. That said, I love his piano playing...in this song, he just gave us a taste of his beautiful playing. You'd have to see fancams to see him really play. I also love his Dombra playing, especially something different as in the instrumental song, River of Love, on his RUclips channel. It's quite a gorgeous sound, more contemporary, almost jazzy sounding. This performance... Wow ❣️ He really showed the emotions here, like you said, a kind of desperation, professing his love, almost pleading the same from his love interest. But after his song S.O.S, he had 2 Bodygards at his door and they said to Dimash : '' you will need us, now ! And the year after, this Competition change the Rules (singers from every Country can win ! ). But Dimash doesn't want to go in any Competition (as in USA, they lied to him !). Adagio is my most favorite performances of this song. It's so emotional. Also the next song. In the 7th episode he sang the Kazakh song Daididau. I don't know if there are subtitles in the 7th episode available. I looked but I couldn'd find any. Maybe you have another link. This song is very sad and it tells about a very dark time in the history of Kazakhstan, not so long ago. In case you are interested in the history of this song. The Kazakh poet and writer Magzhan Zumabayev was sentenced by the Russian regime to 10 years in prison for conspiracy in 1929 and imprisoned. While in custody there, he was falsely (probably more intentionally) told that his wife (her nickname was Daididau) had left him. If I am correctly informed he is said to have written the lines of the song in prison (as a letter to his wife), probably to express his deep sadness and despair that she had left him. Although he was released in 1934, he was arrested again a few months later and was executed 1937. The lyrics of this song are so sad I could cry every time I hear it. It never leaves me unmoved. While I agree that perservarance is critical to survive long term cronic mental health issues, I am not convinced that it leads to Hope in all cases. Dimash calls Terry Linn (as he is known to Dimash) "Papa Linn" --Daddy Linn. He has such respect for his elders, and Papa Linn is older than he looks, around 60+ now, whereas Dimash is only 30. They became very close friends on Singer 2017 and remain close friends to this day. Dimash plays piano, dombra, drums, xylophone, acoustic guitar and electric guitar, and probably more than this. He hurt his knees, especially the right knee, throwing himself onto the sage. He did that often for emphasis. In a photoshoot after this, he was posed laying on the floor in that blue suit, right knee bent, left straight. The photographer tried to straighten his right leg, and Dimashed cried out, and she stroked his knee to straighten the pants, and he was obviously in pain and kept pleading No no no no! He bent his leg and turned to the camera and signaled he was ready to go back to keep shooting the bent knee pose.
Thanks for the in-depth reaction. This was the song that introduced me to Dimash, about 5 years ago for me. I've played it endlessly, watched many reactors react to it and it never gets old. Since others have replied with the number of instruments he plays, let me say that he does correct anyone who calls him a multi-instrumentalist. He acknowledges in interview, that "in order to play very well and be a real instrumentalist one needs to work and study one’s whole life, but I studied (voice).” He certainly plays piano, keyboard, and a few other instruments well beyond the amateur level.

It's a shame that he could never win the contest, because he wasn't born in China. There's a huge protest, so next year the rules were changed, and an apology was made to Dimash. Lara Fabian loved his version. It had to be really hard to sing in English, since it isn't one of his native languages.
Dimash sings a great version of Dai 19:34 di dow in the same suit at a keyboard after starting on a dombra, in China prbably early this 2024. So that's 2 instruments in one song. There are fanvids of drums, he sings as a kobyz, early violin, in a rehearsel for an outdoor concert, and somewhere I saw him strummimg a guitar to the Flight of the Bumble Bee, I think it was. He also does wonderful vocalizing, e.g. with Lang Lang on piano with orchestra in China. That's not actually correct - re saying he wasnt known beyond Kazakhstan. He won many singing competitions in the countries around Kazakhstan, whi formed a big gathering of countries around that area, including Russia Belarus etc etc, came together running many forms of serious singing and piano playing competitions, and he won most of them . He won a VERY prestigeous singing competition which is what drew the organisor of The Singer Competition to invite Dimash to compete in their competion - The Singer.. It was Dimash's 1st time away from home on his own. He was 20/21 years old here. No English no Chinese, he had an interpreter around some of the time, but it was v difficult as when he was with the rest of the competitors , no one cud understand what he was saying, n he cudnt understand them. Given a new song to sing each week with no Chinese or English it was sooooo challenging. As an outsider he was not allowed to win he came in 2nd. The following year they changed ghaf rule . After the 1st performance, the audience, all involved in the music industry, posted a out his incredible talent. Hence by the following morning, the whole world woke up to discover him. Hence the great connection between Dimash and China.n

Yep, Dimash plays several instruments but he'll never admit he's professional, saying instrumentalists study all their life and he studied singing. That said, I love his piano playing...in this song, he just gave us a taste of his beautiful playing. You'd have to see fancams to see him really play. I also love his Dombra playing, especially something different as in the instrumental song, River of Love, on his RUclips channel. It's quite a gorgeous sound, more contemporary, almost jazzy sounding. This performance... Wow ❣️ He really showed the emotions here, like you said, a kind of desperation, professing his love, almost pleading the same from his love interest. but Dimash and us know the rules for that year : only a singer from China can win. Dimash can't win that Competition. But after his song S.O.S, he had 2 Bodygards at his door and they said to Dimash : '' you will need us, now ! And the year after, this Competition change the Rules (singers from every Country can win ! ). But Dimash doesn't want to go in any Competition (as in USA, they lied to him !). This song is very sad and it tells about a very dark time in the history of Kazakhstan, not so long ago. In case you are interested in the history of this song.
The Kazakh poet and writer Magzhan Zumabayev was sentenced by the Russian regime to 10 years in prison for conspiracy in 1929 and imprisoned. While in custody there, he was falsely (probably more intentionally) told that his wife (her nickname was Daididau) had left him. If I am correctly informed he is said to have written the lines of the song in prison (as a letter to his wife), probably to express his deep sadness and despair that she had left him.
Although he was released in 1934, he was arrested again a few months later and was executed 1937.
The lyrics of this song are so sad I could cry every time I hear it. It never leaves me unmoved. Even after hearing it so many times.

While I agree that perservarance is critical to survive long term cronic mental health issues, I am not convinced that it leads to Hope in all cases. It could lead to hope but luck, crisis frequency, and supportive resources all play a critical role in whether it leads to a path of hope.

Glad to hear you mention Terry Lin. Dimash and "Papa Lin" (he's older than Dimash's dad) became very close, and Dimash has performed at several of Terry's concerts. There are clips of them together online! ❤ And then there's Dimash and his childhood idol, Lara Fabian, who saw this performance, and the rest is history! I don't think she knew about Dimash when she sang You're Not From Here, but --just my opinion-- they were meant to collaborate! Stay tuned! ❤

Dimash calls Terry Linn (as he is known to Dimash) "Papa Linn" --Daddy Linn. He has such respect for his elders, and Papa Linn is older than he looks, around 60+ now, whereas Dimash is only 30. They became very close friends on Singer 2017 and remain close friends to this day.
Dimash plays piano, dombra, drums, xylophone, acoustic guitar and electric guitar, and probably more than this.
He hurt his knees, especially the right knee, throwing himself onto the sage. He did that often for emphasis. In a photoshoot after this, he was posed laying on the floor in that blue suit, right knee bent, left straight. The photographer tried to straighten his right leg, and Dimashed cried out, and she stroked his knee to straighten the pants, and he was obviously in pain and kept pleading No no no no! He bent his leg and turned to the camera and signaled he was ready to go back to keep shooting the bent knee pose.

Thanks for the in-depth reaction. This was the song that introduced me to Dimash, about 5 years ago for me. I've played it endlessly, watched many reactors react to it and it never gets old.
Since others have replied with the number of instruments he plays, let me say that he does correct anyone who calls him a multi-instrumentalist. He acknowledges in interview, that "in order to play very well and be a real instrumentalist one needs to work and study one’s whole life, but I studied (voice).” He certainly plays piano, keyboard, and a few other instruments well beyond the amateur level.
Dimash couldn't speak Chinese when he sang SOS, so he learns fast.

It's a shame that he could never win the contest, because he wasn't born in China. There's a huge protest, so next year the rules were changed, and an apology was made to Dimash. Lara Fabian loved his version. It had to be really hard to sing in English, since it isn't one of his native languages.
In one of the videos about his life he said that in music school the students were taught stage presence, and acting. 🎉❤🎉

There are fanvids of drums, he sings as a kobyz, early violin, in a rehearsel for an outdoor concert, and somewhere I saw him strummimg a guitar to the Flight of the Bumble Bee, I think it was. He also does wonderful vocalizing, e.g. with Lang Lang on piano with orchestra in China.

The interpretation of the song by Dimash is brilliant. He touches my heart and soul ... every time.
The shaking of his head and the trembling of the chin has nothing to do with the vibrato. It just goes to show that Dimash can be a little nervous and tense too. It was about a lot. In the previous episode 5 (Uptown Funk) he knocked everyone out of their seats, but still only took a back seat. Either he won now or he would go home. Of course, Dimash won Episode 6.
The “Adagio in g minor” is one of the most popular works in classical music today. It is a composition for strings and organ published in 1958 by the Italian musicologist and composer Remo Giazotto (* 4. Sept. 1910; † 26. Aug. 1998 - Italian musicologist, music critic, and composer) and is said to be based on fragments by Tomaso Albinoni. Musicologists are still debating whether it was really composed by Albinoni.
Camilo Sesto wrote 1985 the original lyrics in Spanish to this piece. Lara Fabian wrote the lyrics in Italian and English. Composers Rick Allison, Dave Pickell and Lara Fabian arranged the piece into a pop song. Since then, this song has been part of Lara Fabian's repertoire.

That's not actually correct - re saying he wasnt known beyond Kazakhstan. He won many singing competitions in the countries around Kazakhstan, whi formed a big gathering of countries around that area, including Russia Belarus etc etc, came together running many forms of serious singing and piano playing competitions, and he won most of them . He won a VERY prestigeous singing competition which is what drew the organisor of The Singer Competition to invite Dimash to compete in their competion - The Singer..
It was Dimash's 1st time away from home on his own. He was 20/21 years old here. No English no Chinese, he had an interpreter around some of the time, but it was v difficult as when he was with the rest of the competitors , no one cud understand what he was saying, n he cudnt understand them. Given a new song to sing each week with no Chinese or English it was sooooo challenging. As an outsider he was not allowed to win he came in 2nd. The following year they changed ghaf rule .
After the 1st performance, the audience, all involved in the music industry, posted a out his incredible talent. Hence by the following morning, the whole world woke up to discover him. Hence the great connection between Dimash and China.n
