I thought of something similar, the simulations stuck to a traditional model for disease spreading, and did not seem to take human response into account. But military bases would probably be a bad idea for two reasons 1) other people who have the same idea 2) the military would likely be poorly equipped to deal with zombies, they would be reluctant to fire on civilians (zombies), and are taught to aim for center of mass not the head (most books you read talk about this, it would likely take a while for people to realize that they need to shoot the head)
Darin Anderson The problem with that though is that is a scenario where nobody KNOWS what a zombie is. Thats how in any zombie movie it spreads so fast. By the time people figure out what to do, its way too late. If this were to happen in modern reality it would take the population as a whole about 20 minutes to figure out exactly what they need to do and would be all over every social media feed and news cast within the hour. People would be much more prepared to defend themselves with the already known knowledge of how to take care of this. I've been living in Norfolk since the start. The soil here actually used to be terrible for anything other than tobacco, and one of the worst places to live, if you weren't a tobacco farmer, but then it turned into a lumber place, but a guy got frustrated and planted a bunch of tree walls which stopped the wind. creating one of the best farming areas in Canada. Lots of history here
Lena Hadley there’s stupid people everywhere...we’re not actually nice people we’re just polite & mannered, just go see a hockey game or a Canadian at war, we’re far from nice xD
The problem with mosquitoes transporting the disease is that they don't actually suck your blood. It's your blood pressure that forces the blood into the mosquitoe. They track the host by using your breath, pheromones, and body heat. So unless the zombies still have a pumping heart, those mosquitoes wouldn't be able to find the zombie, let alone get any blood out of it.
for at least a while the zombies are still alive, and would attract mosquitos. they could pass the disease to their offspring and continue to hunt the remaining living humans, who are continuously turned to zombies. also, the smell of blood could (depending on the virus) draw zombies to your area. so best to avoid them anyway
As an Ontarian, when I started this video I immediately said that Ontario would be the best spot. I think you may have gotten the county wrong though. You're going to want to be more up near Collingwood and Wasaga Beach (huge white sand fresh water beach). While we do grow a lot of things in Southern Ontario, the Blue Mountain region near Collingwood has a HUGE amount of amazing nutrient rich soil, which is why a lot of vegetables are grown there. A lot of the rest of Ontario focuses on grain production. Norfolk county is a poor choice because you are sandwiching yourself between Detroit, Buffalo, and Toronto, with larger Canadian cities like Hamilton and London very close by. You're surrounding yourself with the infected. The Collingwood/Wasaga Beach area is to the North off of Gorgian Bay, and actually isn't particularly colder. You would only be getting zombies coming up from the south because of the water on many sides and low populations on the others.
Surviving zombie apocalpyse is actually easy, as those zombie movies and games ignore one important point, and which I can't believe you ignore such crucial point as well: muscular dystrophy. Those zombies are essentially walking corpses without working organs whatsoever. Give it 1 - 2 weeks and they are nothing more than scary decorations. My big question is whether the virus affects animals and bugs. There's a theory which stated that when bee species in Earth are extinguished, humanity are doomed to perish no matter what.
Imagine if during the Zombie Apocalypse alot of us go to Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada and we start a group of Survivalists called the The Matpatians. That would be hilarious.
thing is he isn't weighing in terrorism, murder migration, riots which can be very important factors we are more likely to be killed by a human than a zombie
and the population density will totally change because everyone will go to ottowa so they will be fucked anyway so whatever you do your ideally fucked plus the pathogen will probably get u before a zombie
I was about to bring that up to till 15:08 in the video. But yea the scenario for the video just takes into account the virus, people are still an important factor when considering the end times. Funny though I didn't take Zombie bugs into account.
Honestly, before I watch this video I'm just gonna say this: I'm in Canada, we have relatively low population density, tons of fresh water, wildlife for food, vegetation. I would just move up north more so I the zombies couldn't move as fast.
Canada is not as safe as you think we are literally touching America so all those zombies from America are going to be coming right here to Canada also with the zombie hordes they wander so rural areas are just very easy to walk across so the safest place is nowhere
the safest place to be is not where you might think, places like deserts and tundra and practically both the north and south poles are probably the safest places you can be, the harsher the climate the more safe you are from zack.
Now we know if a zombie plague hits us the safest place is China. Stay away from North America if you know what's best for you. If the virus doesn't get you the mass panick will.
I'm probably late, but I think Palau might be the best place, not too populated, lots of places to go to, especially the Rock Islands, lots of sea and land animals to catch, self sustaining plants, only two seasons rainy and sunny, you can farm taro and tapioca. One of the biggest problems would be typhoons, though. Might need to learn how to boat without gas though.
"most zombie games have you debilitated at the start" When I first played this game I kept spawning in burned out Forrest's where thirst killed you in a few hours and walking too quickly results in you catching fire. They did update it eventually though and towns started to appear where you could get into police stations and punch gun lockers until they gave up their contents.
"Because they're zombies, they don't know they're sick" meets dormant period before symptoms appear. I'd love to see MatPat make a follow-up video after the global pandemic experience.
I remember watching this video when it first came out and as an Ontario native who lives right outside of Norfolk county I do regret to inform you that it’s still very close to the urban centres of the greater Toronto and Hamilton area as well as Niagara. We also do still get terrible mosquitoes outside of the winter and the lake eerie fishing isn’t the best on account of the lake being kinda dead. Strongly recommend going further north 👍
It would be alright but fishing in places like port Rowan or dover wouldn’t be enough to sustain you, and I feel that simcoe or Tillsonburg would be far too dense in population, not to mention that there isn’t many large patches of forest you could survive out of
@@someguyeban Plus you could just build giant domes and put people in those domes. They'd be large and spacious as to plant crops. Also, people might need a geothermal plant in Antartica not only so that we humans can't get cold, but also so as to grow crops. As long as people's health is in check, everything else is fine.
The nuclear power plants would blow up, several diseasters would kill other zombies, and the rest would die off naturally as viruses would eventually kill the person. And even if it wasn't like cancer, if the person wasn't able to eat properly then he/she would eventually die, especially with all the running. If they *did* eat however, which I'm assuming would only be blood and flesh, then they'd just die slower. Also if the virus allowed them to eat normally, which would be almost *IMPOSSIBLE* , the immune system would just kill them off. Unless it were to hack into the person DNA, which is even *MORE* impossible. Note: "impossible" here is used as a hyperbole for "unlikely"
I've only been to New Jersey one time, but I'm sorry to say to you Jersey people that it honestly sucked there. Boston was pretty bad too, we were on the highway or expressway or whatever it was, and had to go 15 miles in heavy traffic just to make a u-turn because we had to if we wanted to make it back to our hotel that night.

Alright, so this vid has 7.7 mil views, so here’s the issue, if we assume that only 10% survive, that’s still 70,000 people, and with that many people, the Ontario area will be full, so we will all die. I’m going to Alaska.
You realize Ontario has 1,076,395 square km of land right? For my American friends who are wondering, that's the combined land mass of all of Texas and California combined, or 100,000 square km bigger than the 14 combined states that make up the entire Eastern Seaboard of the United States (Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida), so if you think adding 800,000 people will make a dent in the population density of Ontario you're wrong, it takes our population density from it's current 13.6/km2 up to 14.4/km2 which basically changes nothing. 10000 more people all going to Norfolk county would make a difference, but spread throughout Ontario a full 800,000 more people is a drop in a bucket.
Mike LeDrew I’m loving the awesome numbers. The issue is that people don’t spread out in a situation where they cannot take care of themselves. We’d be looking at a large population of people competing for resources and land. As it would Sit we’d already be dealing with things like pillagers and raiders, so to increase the population by almost 1 million people (and still rising), the risk of being attacked by the living would FAR outweigh the risk of being attacked by the dead.
A lot of the zombies would probably decompose after a few weeks too…more quickly in warmer climates. The key is to not make new ones…by…staying indoors? 😅

yeah because they detect breathing, and zombies don't breath (in a WWZ scenario they also don't really have blood, instead they have a viscous black liquid, which mosquitos would not go after)
They could if it came from a rat or a animal. Normally animals are not affected by the virus so they could suck the blood from the infected animal they go to a human
@@jamestrudell3074 but that would require that animals would get a dormant strain of the virus, in the zombie survival guide it says that animals just don't get the disease, so maybe/maybe not
wait wait wait. I'm a science nerd and I know that your muscles will start to die, meaning they start deteriorating. Which in turn means that if you just wait for 1 month, under the suspicion that these zombies are like world war z zombies, not consuming only biting to spread the infection, and around 80 percent of the zombie population will be dead, out of energy to move their decaying bodies. If the zombies are not the "world war z" zombies, then the muscles will be overworked, under the assumption that they are always on the move without rest seeking hosts. This will lead to convulsions, which if their bodies are as weak and frail as the movies depict, should be enough to render most if not all of them motionless. Just a thought though. maybe this whole zombie thing is more exagerated maybe? edit: how did this get so many likes. Thanks!
AMMA personal this would probably be the case. Depending on how often they bite someone. And how quickly and often they move. We could just be looking at maybe 2 months (just to make sure any of the later bitten have died out).
yeah ive been thinking this whole time like, infected rotting human bodies would just decompose theres only so much a disease can make a body do and if that body is unable to function bc its literally falling apart itll just rot and die
My question is, if zombies are mindless walkers killing whatever, why can't our military handle it?

I have always feared zombies cause you never know when a zombie apocalypse will happen.

I was about to bring that up to till 15:08 in the video. But yea the scenario for the video just takes into account the virus, people are still an important factor when considering the end times. Funny though I didn't take Zombie bugs into account.

It would be alright but fishing in places like port Rowan or dover wouldn’t be enough to sustain you, and I feel that simcoe or Tillsonburg would be far too dense in population, not to mention that there isn’t many large patches of forest you could survive out of
Alright Antarctica. Your finally being populated.
The coldness of antartica would be useful, as zombies would freeze to death.

Alright, so this vid has 7.7 mil views, so here’s the issue, if we assume that only 10% survive, that’s still 70,000 people, and with that many people, the Ontario area will be full, so we will all die. I’m going to Alaska.
imagine
Raquel De Abreu 2026 how not
cant farm there
You realize Ontario has 1,076,395 square km of land right?
What I really liked about 28 days later is that the zombies starve like they would and the outbreak effectively ends itself

RadiationZack10 cool
yeah because they detect breathing, and zombies don't breath (in a WWZ scenario they also don't really have blood, instead they have a viscous black liquid, which mosquitos would not go after)
They could if it came from a rat or a animal. Normally animals are not affected by the virus so they could suck the blood from the infected animal they go to a human

Eh?
As someone who lives directly across from a cemetery, this kind of scenario is something that's almost constantly in the back of my mind 😂😭
wait wait wait.
Yep. And as time passes by, if you find a safe place to stay, the zombies will have less hosts, which will decrease their populations little faster.
If you were a zombie you would die because of roting see if you are dead you can not get yourself back
Also they assume the airport is going to work during the zombie outbreak.
No-one is going anywhere , not a zombie that's for sure.
My question is, if zombies are mindless walkers killing whatever, why can't our military handle it? It never made sense to me that with tanks, modern day weapons, bombs, missiles, etc., that the military wouldn't be able to stop a zombie apocalypse from actually happening. What is your take on that?
Look up the Battle at Yonkers (I believe) from the World War Z novel. There's your answer.
Tformerdude wwz as a source cannot be taken seriously considering the author knows nothing about military strategy
