    I feel like stepping up to the X5 gives you more standard “luxury” inside the cabin as well as a faster and more powerful base engine, plus the ride quality

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  2 года назад +6

      You’d be surprised my friend X5 doesn’t feel that nice pretty constricted cabin for the rear occupants, in-line 6 in that feels almost the same as this 4 cylinder. The M tuned B58 in-line 6 is a whole different story and you can get that motor in the X3 M40i which will be a total rocket.

    Thanks for your thorough and in-depth reviews! This definitely helps....trying to decide on the BMW X3, Audi Q5, or Acura RDX (love the RDX but not completely sold on the center stack and technology). The BMW X3 just moved to the top of my list!

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  2 года назад

      Yea my friend X3 and Q5 are truly great choice can’t go wrong with either. I partnered with a company known as AutoCompanion they are offering 10% off MSRP on a Q5 and 5% off I think on an X3. You will have to pick up or have it shipped from Washington DC and wait for the car to built which can take several weeks or months unless they have one on the lot.

  • @libradrag0n
    @libradrag0n 2 года назад +3

    Great review. I drove a 2018 X3 and would agree that it's not confident at high speeds. It just felt that if you had to make an evasive maneuver at above 80mph, you would probably end up wadding it up. It was just floaty to where I wondered if it had a lot of lift or just soft dampers.
    Otherwise a nice vehicle. The controls were a bit odd compared to older BMWs, but not awful. The engine is fantastic for what it is.
    The exterior on this one... Not a fan of the taillights and the front bumper, but they're forgivable flaws.

    • @xavriz
      @xavriz 2 года назад

      What engine did you drive? Don’t feel that at all in the M40i without the adaptive suspension

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  2 года назад

      M40i has an M tuned suspension totally different vehicle really from these 4 cylinder models. But yea high speeds on the non M variants can be slightly sketch not terrible for 2022 just not ideal either. X5 was kind of the same

    • @libradrag0n
      @libradrag0n 2 года назад

      @@xavriz I drove the xDrive30i (2L 4cyl). Base trim, fat- tires. so it was comfortable up to 80mph. I drove it on a road trip ~1700 miles each direction an I really enjoyed *most* of the drive.
      It did have this odd throttle behavior in stop and go traffic. I seemed to jump from 0 to 5% of throttle. Less than 5% was not possible. It was extremely frustrating and it was a deal breaker. Hopefully they fixed that, but it was odd that the issue ever existed.
      The M40I seems great (inline six; better suspension), but I think the X3 just looks slightly odd when you try to sport it up. It's passable, but the X3M definitely looks weird to me.

    I recently bought a new 2022 X3 SDrive30i. My car has the Live Cockpit Pro w/ Nav and the Convenience Package. The car is Alpine white with red interior and aluminum trim. I was looking for a small SUV to replace my Ford Ranger Lariat and I looked at everything in my price range. I don't like the styling of the Japanese or Korean cars although the Kia Sportage isn't bad. It came down to the X3 or the Audi Q5. The X3 is a more truck-like than the Q5 and BMW has a tow package I can add since my car wasn't built with it. I like the red interior and Audi doesn't offer that and the Y spoke 19" wheels look better than anything Audi offers. My only complaint at this time is the that the X3 doesn't come with adaptive cruise control. I'd gotten so used to having it in my Ranger Lariat that it was immediately obvious not having it in the X3. I like the X3 but for $50k it should have adaptive cruise control as standard.

    Well spec for the price, I would do the same to focus on the driving. M package adds little to driving experience. I wish BMW take the electronics out to save on base price. I think this can be used on prolong dirt road but not sure for rock filled or rocky roads as other 4x4 suit that purpose better.

    we are looking at the newer X3 M40i or X5 40i. Would you think it is just more worth it to just save the money and go for a spec like an Xdrive30i? Also, happy New Years!

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  2 года назад +1

      Yes you can save a ton of money going with this 4 cylinder, but that really depends on your expectations out of the inline 6. The inline 6 in the base X5 vs an X3 M40i are totally different. The M40i will really feel like a rocket as it is more performance tuned but the X5 inline 6 feels a lot more similar to this 4 cylinder and is not built for performance driving. So if you’re going for a base X5 I would just save the money and get a X3 four cylinder. But if you’re looking for some serious speed then paying up for an M40i X3 is not a bad idea

    It’s a terrible time to shop a BMW. BMW have deleted a ton of features on their cars. Yes, yes chip shortage and all I get it. Other brands you mentioned have adaptive cruise control with lane keep assist, HUD, hifi system, etc. Honda and Toyotas give you a V6. And adding insult to injury, BMW gives you a few hundred $$$ credit as a compensation when your order the car.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  2 года назад +2

      Idk they said the same thing about RAM trucks that they won’t offer blind spot monitoring in 2022 Laramie models yet I’m testing one currently and it has all the features so I’m not sure that was a temporary thing or if it is different for every manufacturer best to ask a dealer if there are any changes regarding options since it seems to change as time goes on and chip shortage gets better
