My son and I saw you on that hike right below Iroquois. I was struggling getting over a boulder and had to switch from snowshoes to micro spikes and back again. My son recognized you. You’re his hero! He broke trail from the far side of Algonquin until you guys shot past us. Thanks!
i ordered one of your calendars and it arrived today and i would like to say it is beautiful and i would like to tell you that you did a great job making them
The legendary “ Aquaman” I followed Scott’s entire winter A.T. It was amazing! Johnathan I’m curious if you’ve ever been in an avalanche situation in the ADK while hiking. I had an experience on Snowy Mountain in very deep snow towards the summit where the snow around began to “whomp” every time I thrust my snowshoes into 4 1/2 feet of snow. It was very unnerving.
Ha. I worked for hillsound. I didnt realize how big they were. Not the most popular for sure, but I hear them a fair bit now. And yeah, Id agree that their gaiters are amazing!
Great show bro. I’ve seen some excellent videos of you out in some conditions hitting some peaks. Been practicing and building a winter system. This year I plan on really getting into it with some goals involving a few peaks. Im from the bottom of New York but my camp in Maine is close to the AT. Pray for snow 😊❤️🇺🇸❄️☃️🛷🔥⛺️🌄
Awesome video! Was it hard on your eyes without eye protection on this hike? I just learned about the snow shoe law in NY and it blows my mind!! I’m from Seattle but have lived in Maine for 6.5 years and have learned all my winter hiking skills here. Thanks for the details about gear - and taking the time to set up all those shots to really show all angles of this hike.
I was literally just about to post on the aspiring page what the snow depth it currently. My daughter turns 14 and wants to bag her first winter peaks. Guess it is snowshoe weather.
Cold, brutal weather builds the most character when out in the high peaks. Looking to expand to the whites soon, nearly done with VT and only have Slide + Hunter in the Catskills. Where would be a good spot to start in NE?
What do you use to film with? I am not using my mirrorless as its not great for video, I also don't have a wide enough lens. My phone is bad quality, and the GoPro I once had was trash. Batteries died super quick in the cold. What do you use or recommend?
@Jon I'm doing Algonquin on Saturday, thanks for throwing this video up. How wet is the lower portions of the trail? Also would you say that snow shoes aren't essential? Open to any additional beta you can share! Thanks again.
Aww New England. Cute. Teeny tiny mountains covered in trees. Time to move out west my man. And nobody hikes anymore, its too slow. We run. Much better. Much manlier
awww, a west coast “mountain climber” has entered the chat.. how’s your desert doing? nice and dry? good luck drinking water when you run out during one of your “runs.” your “running” is our hiking. hope you’re enjoying those lovely wheelchair ramp switchbacks up your “mountains.” i hope overpopulation and over commercialization is treating your mountains well lol
Tallyho! A shot from the westerly regions across the bow of the interior states has made it thus to our "cute" noreastern ears! Might I suggest a fresh barrage of lake effect snow balls to return fire with. What say you?!

Totally remember you guys of course! Definitely say hi next time we pass each other on the trail! Good tough day out there.
4:10 That was the creepiest water drinking ever..
Congrats!! Your video are so awesome! Thx and can’t believe there’s so much snow! Love your videos and your companions! Thx guys!!❤️

Yah I got 4 calendars today… beautiful…. Giving them to wife’s cousins that visited Lake Placid with us in 2019 from Ireland… a holiday for the ages

Awesome 👌🏼
Hiking my first high peaks this weekend
Scotts south bound AT journey was awesome to watch.
Great video. Love the weather report😁. Nice gloves and I also agree w Hillsound over Kahtoola
peeped the fun police sticker, fellow cairn kicker here!

We were up on Marcy on this day. It was an absolute slog. Great vid!
That’s Beneroffe? He was by my camp in Maine south bound when it hit 25 below zero! He’s the dude

Put the rubber on the microspikes stretched out around the shoe to create tension so they stay on properly. Great VID!
Because they are hillsound micro spikes, they already have a Velcro strap built in to secure them to to the shoe.
That thumbnail is an insanely awesome photo. What brand is the green shell that you’re wearing? I like it.
Uhhhhhh. So don’t hate me… But I actually used AI to create this particular thumbnail. I wanted to see how it looked 😅
Ha it does look awesome wow! Whats the brand of your green shell your wearing? @@JonathanZaharek

You're planning to ski all 46?!

Down low is definitely gonna be thin and icy. I wouldn’t expect snow shoes below 3000 feet anywhere
@@JonathanZaharek Thanks man! Again- great video, love to see ADK mountains getting some quality vids. Hugely underrated IMO.
Aqua-man! I thought I recognized that voice.
Are there any peaks you think are “easier” in the winter with snow covered trails vs other seasons?
Aqua man!
What boots are you using in this video?
La Sportiva Blizzard GTX. Good for temps above 15°
As a Canadian from Southern Ontario, it really bothers me how he mispronounces Iroqouis.

LOL. This comment made my day.

Nothing more manly than prancing around in short shorts and sneakers!
