Barry, I love the thought of resting in Jesus. Thank you for your words on rest. I didn’t understand it completely, but it makes sense now. Also I heard an explanation of God resting on the seventh day of creation. It’s not because he was tired!!! Blessings to you.

Thank you Barry. Always insightful. But what about the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18 who had already been forgiven by his master but didn't forgive his fellow servant?

Thank you for this Q&A which I often watch and learn from. A heart changed by God because of his love and forgiveness, will also show love and forgiveness to others. We can forgive others because of the forgiveness that we have received from God through Christ. What we receive is both forgiveness and the capacity to forgive, which means that the it needs to be put into action towards others. What happens if this capacity is not acted upon and there are traces of unforgiveness in our hearts? Is it possible to be forgiven but remain unforgiving to someone or others?

If I may add something here: I think it sometimes takes time for our emotions to catch up with our knowledge. An edifying way to handle this is to, when feelings pop up, say "I thank you God, that you are strengthening me and that I have forgiven so-and-so. Bless them." It helps to know that if they would have been enlightened, they would not have offended you. And if they had realized who you were--a child of God--they would not have offended you. "Yes, but they professed Christianity," you may say. Well, they were unenlightened as to who they were and who you were. They are/were unenlightened; in a very bad place with God. ANOTHER thing you can do is to picture that person standing next to the cross. Can you say to Jesus, "You haven't been punished enough to forgive what that person did to me." (Of course you can't say that. IMO it helps me to forgive.)

TRUTH! He can and will heal!! I wrote out my faith prayer, specific to my “ medical diagnosis”. Then read it aloud @ 8am, noon, 4 pm and 8 pm daily! When I got to oncology specialist 6 months later, my blood work was within normal limits! Repeating the positive made it real to my brain, the Lord healed me!!

How can religious people go to heaven. They say they believe in God and Jesus. Problem is their God and Jesus is their religion. Not the God and Jesus of the Bible. If the Bible says one thing and their religion says another. They will go with their religion every time.

In answering the title question, you basically said, that all of Christ's teachings don't matter as they happened before the cross. That's a very dangerous idea! Jesus said that those who don't follow his teachings will be like a foolish builder who builds his house on sand and that their fall will be very great. Jesus commissioned his disciples AFTER the cross to go into all the world and teach them to obey Christ's teachings, that he taught BEFORE the cross. If we separate Christ from his teachings, we are making up another Christ.
