Forget LG G3 & Samsung S95C… This OLED TV Measures 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗘𝗦𝗧 with Less Afterglow (Panasonic MZ2000)

  • We review the Panasonic MZ2000 OLED TV whose MLA panel & bespoke multi-layer heatsink allowed the television to measure brighter than the LG G3 & the Samsung S95C up to 25% window size at D65 white point, while exhibiting less image retention.
Our review sample is the 65-inch Panasonic TX-65MZ2000B (the UK 3-pin-plug version), but our findings should also apply to the smaller TX-55MZ2000B. The larger 77-inch Panasonic MZ2000 is not equipped with an MLA (Micro Lens Array) OLED panel, and so won't be as bright.
The "Includes Paid Promotion" message in this video refers to the sponsorship by British AV retailer Richer Sounds. If you're interested in getting the Panasonic MZ2000, please support this channel by considering buying from them:

@@winstonwolff Of course they do. There are even laws against company espionage and employee pouching. It is even normal for companies to also pay for feedback. And all those 'tell us why?' or 'tell us what you think' questions after nearly every transaction a customer has with a company.
And all companies keep an eye on the competition. You really think Samsung has absolutely no idea what Sony is doing? Or that Intel is oblivious of AMD?
You can even find interviews and documentaries showing companies buying competing products and trying to reverse engineer it and study it. That's basically the entire meme behind China's 'R&D'.
Big reviewers also get first hands on and their feedback is taken into consideration. Some reviewers and companies themselves will even tell you that they listened to initial feedback before the final launch. Some products change, some even get cancelled all together due to negative feedback.

I was tossing up between an LG or a Panasonic last year and went for the Panasonic because of its colour accuracy out of the box, its less aggressive dimming, and its brightness and I haven't regretted it yet. With the brightness set at the default (less than 50 per cent), it's plenty bright enough to watch in the daytime without the curtains drawn.

unfortunately they can't simply swap the chipset. The extreme accuracy with colors and near black handling is tied to the own software developed on that specific chipset. So the panasonic engineers need to find out to implement all of this on the new pentatonic chipset. You have to also consider the new mla panel. 2 new technology came out at the same time. Because of the short time and they prioritize quality and accuracy they choose the old chipset where most of the work is already done. They have to tune it to the new panel. Next year 2024 sure they'll use pentatonic I guess

Each person will have to decide what's important - Does make you wonder if The Martian wasn't mastered well - in true 10 bit films should look great graduation or not graduation - anyway I want a 77" MLA or 83" QD-OLED - so hopefully next year a not issue - happy to forgo a G3 this year (LG may do a G4 83" to boot ) - all the flagships do a good package - Let's hope Panasonic's 2024 77" MLA with the 1000 chip makes a great package -less BT2020 - I will update receiver same time - so PS5 direct - all else via receiver - Receivers now mastered the handshaking - full bandwidth - so next years models should be silky smooth - so next year hope full package minus BT2020 ( but colours will still be amazing - only limited sources exploit it - plus you won't know it's missing - unlike your graduation ) - I buy for 10 years plus - so great processing , built quality , the heat sink counts for me - Maybe Sonys 83" 2024 QD-OLED will get a discount to make it viable ( Samsung has to be pushing for a 83" model ) - In my country Panasonic discounts after awhile - though Sony will have very short sale sometimes on limited flagships released in NZ - but will need to be quick as limited 83" stock

@fullhd5277 That Pholed Blue will be real good for QD-OLED as base colour- so can ramp Nits higher -also good for WOLED - as will need less white to boost for extreme bright blue colours - also allow a better true RGB as well at larger size - I'm hoping next year as well - may well be 2025- Will expand BT2020 as well I imagine - shame Sony is so expensive

    • @MFRiley
      @MFRiley Год назад

Burn in is all about accumulation over time, not singular instances.
An image left on an OLED screen for 5 minutes every day for a month will cause more pixel deterioration than an image left on an OLED display for 2 hours at one time. Of course, there are more factors that go into the equation, like heat... But the gist of it is that burn in accumulates over time.
You may already know this, but given your last sentence I figured there's a chance you don't. Definitely important to know.
Also, sorry about your display. That sucks! OLED simply is not good for displays that will have static images. My last 3 phones have had burn in from the status bar/keyboard. Great for movies and varied gaming though!

In recent years I owned a GZ2000, a HZ2000 and now a LZ2000. All bought thanks to Vincent’s excellent reviews. In my opinion the HZ2000 was the best.
With the LZ2000 I have massive problems with screen uniformity, resulting in “green” areas in the screen, especially onbeheerd left side. My retailer tried to find a flawless piece but this was not successful. Now the are going to replace it by the MZ2000.
In the test Vincent mentioned the screen uniformity issue again…. Tinting …So my trust in Panasonic is not without doubts any more. IMO they were ahead with the GZ2000 but now aren’t top notch any more. A pity…

Vincent are you able to explain why WOLED and QD-OLED TV's and monitors have such aggressive ABL with under 200 nits 100% white window when stuff like OLED laptops/phones/tablets can easily hold over 300nits at 100% white.
Are LG Display and Samsung just playing it too safe wanting 5+ years out of TV's and monitors VS more disposable devices such as laptops and phones?
Would increasing 100% to say 300 nits really increase the burn in risk or just more temporary retention?
Aggressive ABL is really holding alot of people back from buying OLEDs for pc use as they can handle slightly blurry text but Microsoft Word hitting 130 nits is too jarring.
A good video idea to discuss perhaps 💡

Not sure how you’ve come to that conclusion, at the end of the day it’s what you see on the screen that counts, and specs never tell the whole story. Last year I auditioned all the flagship TVs. My final two were the Panasonic LZ2000 and the Sony A95K - according the spec sheets the Sony should have trounced the Panasonic, but I can tell you that was not the case…and I spent just under 1 hour watching them side by side in a audition room.
There was very little between the two sets, sometimes the Sony looked better and sometimes the Panasonic looked better…..in the end I bought the Panasonic. Considering the Sony at the time was about £600 more expensive, it just wasn’t worth the extra. The truth is all the flagship TVs are very good, I auditioned all of them…in the end it comes down to preference. What I will say is that the Panasonic surprised even me….people don’t talk about them much, but it’s not until you sit down and spend some time actually viewing one of their TVs that you realise just how good they are.
