    Thanks for sharing this update. It’s very helpful for those of us who are deciding if we should try Amazon FBA or not. I am in that boat - not sure I want to take the plunge but the idea of leveraging their fulfillment services is very appealing. Congrats on the sales, but yeah that’s a lot of fees. If I did my mental maths right, you made about 3.20 pounds per candle right? That doesn’t sound very sustainable so yeah, I guess if you can find that sweet spot of advertising spend that would help. I can see where you maybe need to spend more on marketing initially to get up in the search ranking,etc as you mention but hopefully at some point you (or anyone) can bring down the advertising spend and still maintain the number of sales. That’s the secret sauce, isn’t it?! 🙄. Best of luck with the TikTok shop 👍

      Thanks for the reply and I'm glad you found it useful. Basically the aim of the game is to provide something I'm truly proud of that benefits people but also justifies my time and making sure I get paid what I'm actually worth. The perceived value of it but it's hard because I think I price myself to cheaply as the little bit of self doubt is like naaaaah you can't charge that.
      So yes probably across the board 3.2 some are better margin wise as some oils are way cheaper, some spent more on advertising etc. But I want it to be £5 a candle profit at least then 400 candles is 2k profit boom!
      The sweet spot magic is low advertising and a good margin so I'm confident I can get there. I also leveraged some of my Instagram followers to build up a bit of momentum by running a sale on Amazon, so I start with a lower cost and slowly increased it.
      Hope these comments help, only way to do anything is to try it be a bit rubbish and improve haha.

    Just starting out on Amazon FBA myself and trying to get some listings sorted. Was curious to know how you fill out the 'dangerous goods' section of the listing. Do you put the candles under GHS and list any hazards from the fragrance SDS? But then that takes me into the next question, do you just edit and update the fragrance SDS from the supplier to your own company info? I know a. very old Candle Shack video tells you to do this, but then again, as you are supplying a new candle, I guess the wax needs to also be included...

      Hi tbh I haven't filled out everything on amazon as long as your clp labels are on the bottom that covers it (don't quote me on that) But I just fill in what I need in the beginning then add the rest as I go. The type of wax doesn't need to be listed only the oils as they're whats hazardous. Hope that helps.

      @@suffolk.candles Cheers for your info/tips. I have noticed that the hazard box has disappeared for myself now. But yeah, definitely need to continually add as I go, way more stuff to do than I anticipated. Here I thought FBA would be the easy part compared to testing.

      @@jho1256 Amazon takes time, you'll find anything with candle making times, learn as you go! Good luck :)

    Congrats! Good to know about the canisters getting banged around. I’m on the fence about selling on Amazon and my products are easier to damage than your candle cans.

    congrats on your superb july sales! I am also trying to grow my small business.
    1 question, you shared you got 6k in sales last month so with your sales increasing and VAT threshold approaching, how will that impact your business.

    • @suffolk.candles
      @suffolk.candles  2 месяца назад

      For now I'm hoping to stay under the VAT threshold... it is certainly my goal at the moment it would probably wreck the current business model taking an extra 20% off of everything but if I'm totally honest I don't really know how VAT works as I'm sure I can claim some back.
      So the plan is to keep it under. Become more efficient with my margins and try to provide maximum value, if I can improve the margins and the perceived value is still good, it will give me hope for that jump!

    Ads is where they make most of their money, just look at the bigger picture, ads will go down with time, i spend an average of 5k a month on ads.

      Woweee, that's a lot of money on ads haha. Yes the bigger picture I get carried away with the now too often. Overtime it will work out, I have full faith. Appreciate the comment, thank you for taking the time :)
