Are you reformed? Really encouraging video! I am an older than you by few years and watched your videos years ago, but married to believer and we are having abrupt Childloss of one of our daughter..I was watching this wanting to send encourage my sister but it actually encouraged me in my grief. Thank you
Thank you. Something about the way you phrased this or maybe just the fact that you DO actually know how it feels really brought me comfort. I’ve been so lost in my loneliness. Not only is it purely about the fact that I’m single but the fact that I feel like I keep watching my friends get in relationships and I believe I’m becoming “irrelevant” to these people I love so much. It’s terrifying. But your words... I think this is what I was needing to hear.
Wow, that is definitely not an easy situation to deal with. I truly feel for you! Some seasons of life are definitely harder than others, but just know that you’re not alone. One perk of having friends in relationships is that you can learn from their experiences and kind of set a foundation of what you would and wouldn’t want in a potential future relationship yourself!
Thankyou so much for this video, a topic rarely talked about and the pressure we put on ourselves because of our surrounding that we shouldn't be single
Even though this is directed to women, I think it can be directed towards men too. It really resonated with me because I’m a lifelong Christian in my 30’s and have only dated one person, which was in college. I have had a desire to be married throughout my life and have felt the 4 points you mentioned in the 11th minute of your video. It’s definitely tough when nearly everyone you know is in a relationship and you feel like a loser because you can’t seem to find someone to be in a relationship with and go through life with. I think you did a wonderful job with this video and I enjoy watching your videos.
To all the single girls out there, if it is really the desire of your heart to get married someday, just keep on praying. Remember, you'll know it is from the Lord if it is a good desire. And wanting to get married or be in a godly relationship that will honor the Lord is something good. So just throw everything in God's court, all your concerns, desires, and requests, cause God hears. Pray for it daily and consistently, and of course, be patient. For God's timing is different from ours. His ways & thoughts are not like ours.
I have to remind myself SO often that God's thoughts are not my thoughts, and my ways are not God's... that there are worlds of differences there, and I certainly can't see all of what He has, and while I desire marriage and a family one day, I want to trust that He will work in His time. And Meredith, thanks so much for this video that I didn't even think I really needed considering I've grown so "used" to being single haha. One of the last things you mentioned about the Lord potentially protecting me from so much heartbreak that could have been really struck me. Thank you for sharing these truths.
Lastly, surrender. It is actually a repeated surrender to the Lord. In that way, marriage or being in a relationship will never be an idol. Surrender the answers of your prayers to God, be it a yes, wait, or even no. God hears but God also knows. If you are in God, behind every single thing happening in your life is God's hand. The hand of a loving Father. Borrowing from the words of Charles Spurgeon, Christ deserves to be trusted without a single doubt. Make your relationship with the Lord the most important relationship in your life.
