This should come with a warning..”Watch at your own risk “…your reaction and analysis is what this piece of “all right” greatness deserves..simply the best 16 minutes of my day!☺️❤️‼️
I just happened to see a short clip of this on face book and was so blown away that I HAD to search for the entire video. I watched it and throughout the entire performance I experienced various emotions. Chills, thrills, goose bumps, hair raising on the back of neck, and lots of tears. When you hear a piece composed like this, you don't even need to know words to bring on the tears. It's just the beauty. Then I watched your reaction, and we shared all the same feels. I've lost count of how many times I have listened. I am sure there will be many more. There was one point where I think I went to heaven. Your facial expressions say it all. Thanks for your genuine reaction.
This choir is the Aeolians of Oakwood University. They have always sounded like heaven look them up and give a listen. this collaboration only goes to show the ongoing beauty and talent of these impeccable people.
I LOVE your reactions..you are SO expressive! This is an amazing recording of an amazing piece!! Keep up the good work of exposing your young audience/subscribers to different types of music. You rock!!
I love Jacob's music more than any other, it makes me laugh, it makes me cry and just blows me away, but I am not a musician so I don't know why, so it is wonderful to see people who know what is happening react to his music - thank you QoFy x
9:14, I'm glad you picked up on how "reserved" this is for Jacob. It's slightly fancier than most choral writing compositionally, but not that crazy. It's simply done so masterfully. Although of course it still definitely takes an amazing talented choir to perform. The Aeolians are amazing. I love their performace of "Precious Lord" and "Take it to the Lord in Prayer". Both performed around the same time as this.
And if you didn't see it, in the description for the video Jacob wrote, "I booked a recording session with Jason [conductor Jason Max Ferdinand] and the choir at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, and composed ‘World O World’ the day before I flew from London to the studio to meet them."
Thak you for this! I have heard this song of Jacob's several times but now we have the score! So I stood in front of the tv and sang. Try it, it's fun! Thank you, Jacob.
I've watched all of your Collier reactions and this is the very best. Three comments. The reason the microphone work is so good is seen briefly at the beginning and end of the video. Dr. Ben Bloomberg, who has been with Collier starting at MIT with the invention of the harmonizer and continuing with all of his tours. Second, you've hit the nail on the head about this particular work. I think it is Collier's first "great" work. It is being performed all over the world by all sorts of musical groups. I watched a drum and bugle corps this morning-excellent. Finally, I'm curious about the "written the day before" thing going around. Since this is the final song on Djessie Vol. 4, I'm just /guessing/ that what happened the day before was arranging the Pro Tools album version for live performance. There are a lot of Collier myths out there, like he is "self-taught." Keep it up! I enjoy what you are doing.
Jacob himself directly said that he *wrote* (not arranged) the piece the day before he flew to Nashville. This also means that the Aeolians learned and recorded it all in the same day... which, given the professionalism of this choir, is plausible. Jacob has said it was a 12 hour recording session (at the end of which he also spontaneously had the Aeolians record vocal parts for "All Night Long"). This *is* the album version we are hearing in this recording. It was recorded in 2018, long before Djesse Volume 4 or even Volume 2. So there was no Protools version to adapt from for this recording. Jacob has said that he conceived of this piece as a "bookend" to the Djesse series, matching the opening of Djesse Vol 1's "Home Is." As for Jacob being self-taught, that is largely true. He certainly had deep influence and learning from his mother and grandfather probably from the day he was born, but outside of a year or two of university, where he says he mostly studied jazz, I don't think he has had any other formal instruction. And keep in mind that much of his earliest arrangements were conceived and arranged just before or around the time he was stating university. So it is unlikely that much of his university training was deeply instrumental in development of his knowledge and skill. If you want to hear some of his earliest work, search for "Kami's Journey", which I believe is still on RUclips. This is his first album, created when ie was 14 and 15. While very different from his newer music, the unmistakable influences of his understanding of theory and mastery is evident even in these very raw recordings.
Hi, could you also watch Sara James perform as a special guest at the AGT 2024 semi-finals? Sara is promoting her latest single "Sunshine State Of Mind". Simon was im seventh heaven!
I replied too quickly. I keep forgetting that any video posted under Collier's name has gone through a lot of post-recording audio as well as video work. Yes, likely varrispeed.
I'm not sure that's true. Listen to the very end of this version, recorded live with no sophisticated processing ruclips.net/video/qwxRyUnujvg/видео.html. Pretty sure that 6th octave is there. The Aeolians have some pretty beyond-human voices in their group. :)
@@calchip Yeah, I agree (and thank you for the link!) I've heard a C6 sung in concert (Allegri's Miserere), and I'll wager that the singer I heard could manage a D6.
Check out all Jacob Collier reactions 😊 :

Your reaction is literally every time I have listened to this over the last 3 weeks
Its amazing!

The Aeolians from Oakwood University, best Choir in the world
Say it again !!!
I LOVE your reactions..you are SO expressive! This is an amazing recording of an amazing piece!! Keep up the good work of exposing your young audience/subscribers to different types of music. You rock!!
The most magnificent choral composition and choral performance I have ever heard ❤ Absolutely Stunning!
I love Jacob's music more than any other, it makes me laugh, it makes me cry and just blows me away, but I am not a musician so I don't know why, so it is wonderful to see people who know what is happening react to his music - thank you QoFy x
Your laugh makes me happy. 😊
When you stopped and said you had to prepare yourself for the ending... good call. How right you were. That ending is stunning.
I watched this many times. You sir made me cry with your joy.

Your facial expressions are priceless and very relatable. I see you expressing my own amazement and awe.
Great Reaction! Loved how you just threw off the headset and left.
This is such an accurate representation of my face when I first heard this. 😍😍
9:44 "not some alien" Jacob's literally singing goodbye to Earth and returning to his home planet
And if you didn't see it, in the description for the video Jacob wrote, "I booked a recording session with Jason [conductor Jason Max Ferdinand] and the choir at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, and composed ‘World O World’ the day before I flew from London to the studio to meet them."
He wrote this the day before flying to Nashville from London to record this Masterpiece … so beautiful… the lyrics are so amazing
There are no words to describe this you just have to feel it. Insanity!
Oakwood University is where Take 6 started btw
I’m quite aware of that haha
Brilliant! Inspiring! Awesome!!
Pardon the dust…. My daughters are currently attempting to scrape me off the ceiling.
This song is phenomenal!
I get “Total Praise” vibes at places in this piece. Great reaction as ever. 😊
100% total praise haha
I was thinking the EXACT SAME THING!!! Would be pretty spectacular if Jacob arranged Total Praise as well! 😊
Jacob was sent to us, and the world needs to know
Everytime I watch this again, I'm impressed like I was the first time.
Thak you for this! I have heard this song of Jacob's several times but now we have the score! So I stood in front of the tv and sang. Try it, it's fun! Thank you, Jacob.
OMG!!!!!!!! The choir is stunning. OMG!
Die einzig angemessene Reaktion 😂, und am Ende die Kopfhörer wegwerfen 😂😂😂.
Danke für's Teilen!
You pair Jacob with an incredible group of SSAATTBB voices? Yes, pretty please.
When I first found the video, I attempted to sing along with both baritone and bass parts.
You're amazing!! Jacob is not normal! Your reaction is crazy good!
When the choir started the last crescendo, my heart was about to break..... But when the leader said "all right" it simply stopped beating !
😂😂
Jacob completely composed this masterpiece!!! Brilliant man!
He also released an SATB arrangement for “mortals”
omg these calls to you its infectious in holy spirit its incrediable it's like a call to heaven
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Does this make you think of a new “bridge on the water” arrangement? I'm skeptical! But what class! Gorgeous !!
I can see that
This is the most normal thing he’s done. And it’s this one.
😂😂😂😂😂
Good pick off on the bass crescendo at the last bar. Hadn't noticed that.
👽😱🤩🔥
Have you not heard Djesse Vol. 4 in its entirety yet?
Hi, could you also watch Sara James perform as a special guest at the AGT 2024 semi-finals? Sara is promoting her latest single "Sunshine State Of Mind". Simon was im seventh heaven!
That's the closest thing to a pipe organ the human voice can produce. Indescribable!!
No soprano sang that 6th octave live it was varrispeed Jacob use it in his vocal arrangements a lot
I thought so
Since Broomberg was at the board, I think it is more likely that he used the harmonizer. Isn't varrispeed a post recording tool?
I replied too quickly. I keep forgetting that any video posted under Collier's name has gone through a lot of post-recording audio as well as video work. Yes, likely varrispeed.

What a waste of time
I know right? Hopefully in the future you'll be more productive ❤
