Ah Darren! I was born at Bull Hill, no longer there, so yes, born In Blackburn with Darwen.
Been up tha tower a few times, as a kid and also as an Adult.
Nice vid Mr & Mrs H, a great Bimble. *Waves from Wigan*
Always windy up there, never been when it wasnt. I remember going up there with a guy my Mum was with at the time who was a Morris Dancer for the Britannia Coconut Dancers.
    Another grand upload.

Hi John, this had been one that I'd been meaning to do for a while now as lots of people have
recommended that I should visit Darwen Tower.
The views over Darwen and beyond are certainly worth the climb up there and it was also nice to see that the tower is respected and wasn't gratified with spray paint or otherwise damaged.
No idea if they lock it up at night to deter vandals but if they do I pity whoever has the unenviable job of traipsing up and down there each day to lock and unlock it.

Hi Gary, and glad that you enjoyed the video. 👍
Darwen Tower is certainly worth the climb to and visiting if you are in the area as my camera doesn't do the views that it offers justice.

This is on my doorstep, been up at night to photograph the stars and it's surprising how many locals get up there in the dark, dog walkers, mountain bikers and the usual party going youths

Hi Richard, and gald that you enjoyed the video. 👍
Darwen Tower is definitely worth visiting and it's nice that it is still open to the public unlike many of the other structures and monuments dotted around the moors of Lancashire.
Being able to step inside the tower also allows you a brief respite from the wind/rain after what can be a steep climb in places up the hill to get to it before venturing out onto the viewing areas to enjoy the magnificent views of Lancashire and beyond.

Ello Mr H, great to see you out and about again. Darwin tower and the surrounding area is such a beautiful place. It's one of mine and the wife's go to places, and I've flown it many times with my drone. India mill is another marvel of its day. I've attached the video I made a while back, just in case you want to take a look at the details at the top of the chimney, before you go to see it. I'm a massive fan of Fred dibnah like yourself. And I've visited a few of his works. See you on the next one, take care. Del. 👍 ruclips.net/video/MHxZ35Ee8lE/видео.htmlsi=Ikk09F5LzU58OvdV

The wind noise ruined this video!

    • @MrHsHotPot
      @MrHsHotPot  2 месяца назад

Unfortunately Thermion, some degree of "wind noise" is par for the course when filming at locations that are either high up or in wide open spaces such as moorland.
To say that this video was basically filmed on a whim on Mrs H's iPhone without the use of an external mic I think that she did brilliantly all things considered but thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts.
Take care my friend and all the best. 👍
