I heard that song only twice on the radio, back then in 1980. I was instantly charmed, but I could not find the song back because the disc-jokey neglected to mention it. So for nearly 40 years I thought I would never hear it again until by chance, I clicked the "play" button on your post, Dominikan. When I heard the few notes, tears instantly flowed to my eyes. Thank you very, very much...
I had the exact same experience, & couldn't have worded it any differently! In 1980 I was 8 years old, & by then I'd heard Paul Mauriat's _Love Is Blue,_ & Frank Mills' _Music Box Dancer_ & his _Peter Piper Song. Did everything I could to get through to KEZY 100-FM on the phone, but no one ever answered. Day after day, month after month, same thing. No answer! I also wrote to the station a couple of times, but still no response At that age I couldn't imagine that the broadcast was a just compilation of songs on a 12 hour loop. The music usually wasn't played in the exact same order within the same week, so evidently the station had a separate tape for each day of the week. Eventually I realized that I was hearing the very same series of songs on a later day. So that's when I learned it was just a recording, running without a live radio announcer. Anyway it was the problem across all Easy Listening stations in the country for 50 years- - you would never hear what composer, orchestra, or song title was played Fast forward to my first year of college music, in 1999. Thst was 19 years before I learned who Paul Mauriat is, & got my first copy of _Love Is Blue,_ a once-in-a-century majestic that I'd heard thousands of times throughout the 70's, practically from the day I was born. Later in 1980 I learned the name of _Music Box Dancer._ But it would be 30 years before I would learn who Frank Mills is 😔. But no worries! What I've learned in my 6 years on RUclips from looking through 1,000's of song titles at my fingertips & from conversing with RUclipsrs has filled that 50 year void to complete satisfaction Ultimately there are once-in-a-century, truly epic contemporary orchestrals that you need only hear _ONCE._ God forbid, but if it's 25, 40, even 50 years later before you hear that beauty for the second time, you will _NEVER_ forget it Thank You for contributing! And thank you for allowing me to express myself 💜💜
Beautiful music from Frank Mills. He is a superbly talented Canadian .. a great musician/composer and recording artist. His music is played around the world. Love this song! His other big international hit is Music Box Dancer.
I wrote to Mr. Mills a few years ago and exchanged e-mails about this song. We had an interesting & in-depth conversation about "Peter Piper". He told me he wrote it when he was 19. Holy cow! What teenager writes a brilliant masterpiece like this at 19?!?! He sent me an autographed CD copy of his last live performance. I still treasure it and keep it in my library. Such a kind, talented, and personable man. I am 45 now and grew up listening to his records all my childhood & adult life. My whole family still loves his music and brings back very fond & emotional memories.
ThirdOfJune4444 That’s cool I often look people up and reach out and found many the same as you describe him. I will likely see if I can touch base with him as I admire him so much. Wish you would of told more about what he said about wringing the song and everything you talked about
I would like to believe your anecdote but makes no sense at all. people try to find ways to degrade the good and artistic works of such master pieces. find yourself something else to nock down on. let some of us enjoy something that is good while we live.
I heard this song on the radio about 6 months ago. I didn't know what it was but the DJ said it was by Frank Mills. I looked him up and listened to a bunch of his songs, and then found Peter Piper, the one I had been looking for. I learned how to play this song on the piano, and I love it!
He has such wonderful talent. I have his record album: Music Box Dancer, but it does not have this particular tune on it. I got curious when I saw this listed here, so I decided to give it a listen! I also love the choice of photos you picked for your video! Bravo! ;)
This seems to be like a remastered version compare to the one i listened at spotify. The hit of the wavey tone and the rhythm can clearly be heard without any obstacle.
Does anybody else think that Peter Piper sounds a little bit like Viva La Compagnie and Bingo? It makes me sing: "I get off work, at 5:00. I must make sure, my door is locked!" I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. Vancouver BC has been my favorite place to visit since 2012. Before the pandemic, I'd drive to Kelowna BC once a year, and because I'd lose radio reception soon enough, I'd often play on my Frank Mills CD Music Box Dancer and Peter Piper!
Truly one of Canada's greatest musicians. Gifted...gifted...gifted. And sharing his marvels with us. Thanks a million Frank!!!
I have listened to this song many times. IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL ! It should have been number 1 , just like Music box Dancer !
I agree with you.
Yah now listen to his hit song: Rondo In America!!! You'll love it!!!👍👍🎶🎵🎼😜🤩🤩💫💫

No matter how good and beautiful the song or music is. There’s always dislikers
Songs are for those who can appreciate. It does not matter that it is disliked by some people.

Memories of 96 CHFM playing this heavily in 1979.

KBS제1라디오 김용민 라이브에서 감상한 프랭크 밀스의 피아노 곡입니다.
Beautiful piece......very similar sounding to Music Box Dancer,
I see a little child walking by the hand with his father... he asks about everything he sees... her eyes are wide open to the wonders of life...
1:23 This part makes me feel in awe as if I'm in a cathedral.
Frank Mills I keep looking for Rocky Mountain Sunrise on You Tube. Sad I am missing it since I once lived in the High Country.
And tha's a version of the original track.
