where is the moisturizer/prep for the dry skin prior to foundation? she skipped right over the reason I wanted to watch this !! what the heck Jaclyn.......
Taylor Wynn has some amazing videos on skin care for very dry skin. I used a lot of her recommended products and it's really helped! Especially the Ordinary's rose hip oil!
@@nikkis7375 the ones I love are smashbox studio skin (but HAVE to really prep the skin well since it's more matte), it cosmetics CC cream foundation, and covergirl healthy elixir ( unfortunately discontinued). Hope this helps!
I think I speak for just about all the dry skinned folk out here, this video did not show a single tip or trick. This should be titled “what NOT to do if you have dry skin”.
21:12 is around the time she starts talking about the “trick” for dry skin. I’m not sure why the products she uses are no longer listed in her video descriptions, but the product is Smashbox Photo Finish Primer OIL.
Julietta Grey Okay? Well if you watch the video from 21:12 on you’ll see that she explains how to apply it aka “the trick” she spoke of just learning. The trick she’s talking about is to put the oil primer on dry spots after you’re done with your makeup. Just watch the clip if you care to learn bc it’s a lot to explain here.... or if you don’t care to know then carry on with your life.
Tiffany Swinford I just tried this trick today, but, I used my 100% squalene from the Ordinary and it worked with this, and my skin is sooooo dry, but, this actually made my skin & makeup look a lot better
I felt the same way... UNTIL I was scrolling through the comments and came across someone who said pretty much the same thing that you said. Someone had kindly commented back to her, listing all the things that they had taken away from this video (in regards to dry skin). I've copied and pasted that reply below because it made me realize that Jaclyn actually did give some pretty dang good tips - and for whatever reason, I missed them. "Mixing a creamy stick foundation and using a pinch of liquid foundation to marry the two together, use cream bronzers instead of powders, use setting powder under the eye sparingly (no more than one layer), using sponges for foundation instead if brushes to press into the skin :) just a few i picked up on!" - Chelsey Manansala
Love this video, and love jaclyn! Sometimes I dont love it when she films in front of people. It doesnt seem as personal. Sometimes it's fun to watch her friendships but the side talking to friends is kind of distracting. I understand she explains she isnt in her normal space at home, but her videos from the last year have been like this mostly. I love a mix of all kinds of videos !
Same. Sometimes their inside jokes make me feel uncomfortable, is like she's not talking to me as a friend, but instead i'm interrupting their conversation.. Yeah i've feeling like that when she has ppl around since 2018. Is not that intimate or personal anymore (yes yes, i know YT is not personal 😅)

Ok shouldn't the skincare routine before the makeup be part of this? Because if you have dry skin prep is a HUGE part of making your makeup look good. And there are full coverage more hydrating concealers. If you're actually that dry you can't wear drying matte concealers without looking like the crypt keeper.
Couldn’t agree more 😘 Skin care + hydrating primers are everything with dry skin. And usually luminous/natural, light to medium cocerage foundations & tinted moisturizers work much better than full coverage. And spot concealing if needed. I love Too Faced BTW Concieler because of it’s full coverage, but not drying w skin like finish.

I’m so used dry skin because I’ve dealt with that, eczema and psoriasis my entire life. It took so long to get everything under control and figured out. Skincare is the most important thing - an actual science backed skincare routine (product formulation, knowledge of ingredients & skin function) in combination with a great knowledgeable esthetician’s advice. That has helped me more than anything. In terms of my makeup routine... hydrating products, cream products, less is more approach, avoiding heavy powder/not packing powder on/avoiding it in certain areas, bb/cc creams, basically no matte products & setting everything with a hydrating setting spray have definitely improved my makeup routine as well.
Whitney Nicole Also could try sleeping with a cool mist humidifier at night! I had been using a cheap one from amazon because I had bronchitis and my skin on my face and body has been way less dry and I’m breathing better! Win win lol
Whitney Nicole I’m dealing with that now - and have been for years, eczema, atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. It’s awful! Haven’t been able to control it - even with a dermatologist. So glad you’ve been able to control yours.
What would you recommend for cleanser and moisturizer and even a face scrub? My hubby and I both have extremely dry skin I’ve been trying so many products so far nothing has been helping :(
Marissa Lyn Vanicream cleanser & moisturizer (Walmart , Target or most pharmacy’s/drugstores carry it) and I do not do scrubs at all. My psoriasis can’t deal with them. If anything, a rice powder or chemical exfoliant (lactic acid and mandelic acid are nice for dry skin, especially lactic & 2 times a week. Over exfoliating with anything can make your skin more dry and unbalanced) Also, hydrating toner (Korean or Japanese hydrating toner is best because then you know it’s an actual humectant based hydration toner; western toners are not always labeled correctly and can be misleading) , or a hyaluronic acid serum(applied to damp skin after washing and sealed with a moisturizer) or a humectant serum/product. Hydration has helped me tremendously and without having both moisture and hydration I remain dry and dehydrated (which can look/feel like dry skin)

Oh goodness! I live in South Texas and i feel like my born this way is good it’s just not very long lasting. I’m very creased by the end of the day. I’ve been wanting to try hourglass but I’d hate to spend that coin and not love it.
I love the Smashbox primer oil trick! I’ve owned this primer oil for so long and haven’t known how to use it properly, and recently started incorporating it into my make up routine. I own the tart shape tape which has awesome coverage but is very drying on me, so I add one drop to the concealer and mix it on my hand. Then I apply the concealer under my eyes and blend it out with a sponge and WOW! I end up having the full coverage from shape tape with hydration, without it being very oily. The primer oil eventually sinks in and leaves a hydrated finish of the shape tape, my new go-to combination!

I would go nuts constantly surrounded by people like that for sure. Ima cancer too but im a super private homebody lol. I want my company to leave at the end of the day lol.
@@ashlee3156 dude same 100% it feels so unrelatable.
As a cancer, idk I feel like I couldn't be the same surrounded by a team of people as I could by myself.
I'm so awkward I'd be like "Can you guys leave? I have a funny joke and if none of you guys laugh I'm gonna go kill myself k?"
Ashlee I get that these are her friends and family but I would go CRAZY to not be independent for myself anymore.
Totally relate girls. Idk how she does it but to each their own I guess. I love my family but I'd literally lose my mind if they were around constantly lol. We do not get along the best anyway so there's just no way lol
I thought by the title she’d spend a lot of time on prepping the skin. THAT is what is key to dealing with dry skin, yet she skipped all that.
I thought she was gonna show us some skincare b4 makeup too
Right.. she didn’t even tell us what primer she used or moisturizer 😫
I agree
Same. Skincare and a properly hydrated canvess is key. The HUGE tip was to put oil on AFTER??? 🤷♀️🤔
Everyone always has something to complain about lol y’all are never happy
Tips and tricks??? Are you kidding me
Convey Beauty right like where are the tips and tricks I didn’t learn shit
Exactly.. this is pure bullshit, and gurl.. the amount of POWDERS..... on DRY skin 🙄🙄🙄
Did you see Robert Welshs reaction video?
I definitely recommend to watch Robert Welsh
Then go find another video to watch.. are you kidding me??
where is the moisturizer/prep for the dry skin prior to foundation? she skipped right over the reason I wanted to watch this !! what the heck Jaclyn.......
tammy c my guess is it’s super expensive and she uploaded a skincare routine once and a lot of people have her crap for it
I agree- but probably couldn’t even afford whatever she uses haha
I don't know why youtubers think brows are boring. I wanna see!!
Mariah Lynn agreed. they could do it and speed through some parts but i always want to see how people do them.
I agree! I would like to learn how to do my eyebrows, so watching her do her eyebrows would benefit me greatly.
I think they do it so you have to go watch their eyebrow routine video as well as the foundation one
If you have dry skin, whatever you do... do the opposite of this video. Gah dang girl dry skin in NO way needs that much powder.
No skin needs that much powder.
Just watched Robert Welsh react to this video so I'm here
When you added the oil to your face I literally stopped breathing it’s gorgeous though!
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO HAS DRY SKIN AND GIVES TIPS AND TRICKS! my skin is extra dry that some times I don’t know how to deal with it ugh thanks queen
Taylor Wynn has some amazing videos on skin care for very dry skin. I used a lot of her recommended products and it's really helped! Especially the Ordinary's rose hip oil!
Alysson Banegas if you are rich ,if you could effort all those high end products, thn it's a helpful vdo
Same!!! What foundation(s) work for you? It’s so hard to find stuff that doesn’t make me flake
@@nikkis7375 the ones I love are smashbox studio skin (but HAVE to really prep the skin well since it's more matte), it cosmetics CC cream foundation, and covergirl healthy elixir ( unfortunately discontinued). Hope this helps!
See Robert Welsh's video reacts to Jaclyn Hill. That video is helpful.
I think I speak for just about all the dry skinned folk out here, this video did not show a single tip or trick. This should be titled “what NOT to do if you have dry skin”.
“I feel like I have a new face since I’ve moved to LA” 👀
The irony of her comment...
Jess Hudson mhm she looks plastic literally 🤷🏻♀️
I came here to say this 🤣
She does have a whole new face she’s gained 50lbs!
"it helps me with my anxiety" would be a safe bet in all her videos
maybe she should go back and learn who she used to be
21:12 is around the time she starts talking about the “trick” for dry skin. I’m not sure why the products she uses are no longer listed in her video descriptions, but the product is Smashbox Photo Finish Primer OIL.
Thank you so much for this!
She told about this freaking primer almost a year ago
Julietta Grey Okay? Well if you watch the video from 21:12 on you’ll see that she explains how to apply it aka “the trick” she spoke of just learning.
The trick she’s talking about is to put the oil primer on dry spots after you’re done with your makeup. Just watch the clip if you care to learn bc it’s a lot to explain here.... or if you don’t care to know then carry on with your life.
Does it HAVE to be that specific oil???
Tiffany Swinford I just tried this trick today, but, I used my 100% squalene from the Ordinary and it worked with this, and my skin is sooooo dry, but, this actually made my skin & makeup look a lot better
you are the only makeup guru who thoroughly teaches how to put on makeup and always provides a generous about of tips. Thank you
My fav jaclyn is a teaching jaclyn. I live for her tutorials. 🙏
Carol Bollman yes, she’s a natural at makeup. I always learn so much 😊
Watches for all of 25min. And still waiting on the "tips and tricks"
Same
Wayne Goss is amazing when it comes to tips and tricks - especially when it comes to foundation.
Watching this with my oily skin like “yes. Yes. Ok. I hear you.”
I didn’t find this helpful for dry skin at all. No prep info or anything. Just confused on how this is supposed to be helpful.
I would definitely recommend watching Rawbeautykristi or Taylor Wynn if you want real help with dry skin!
Me either
She has a whole crew, yet not one of them tells her that her nose doesnt need any contouring? That's the real shade.
“that’s the real shade” good one!😂😂
She has nothing but "yes" people around her. Meaning they do what she says and wants to keep her happy so she will pay them... lol
@@jessicaboxley5216 so, she is the maria carry of makeup?
It’s ridiculously skinny
I don’t get it, she’s soooooo dry but she uses layers and layers of powder- maybe it looks good on camera but in person this is CAKEY
I’ve had oily skin AND dry skin and let me tell you I wish I had oily skin again cause dry skin sucks ass! It’s hella high maintenance!
“If you guys watched me a couple years ago” GIRL I’ve been here since 2011😂
2012, but saaaame. 😍
Same
You guys are morons if you still support her. She's one of the worst in the business.
The title should’ve been “ my LA makeup routine” 🤣
But girl..... when your talking lizard skin ... we need the prep / primer steps aswell 🤷♀️
Holley Applegate that’s what I came here for :(
I thought that's what this video was about lol
If you want some awesome skin care tips check out @labeautyologist on twitter. She is an esthetician on twitter and she has a youtube channel but she has literally saved my skin!
Right
That's because she has a primer collaboration coming out with morphe so she can't show her usual 200 dollar sisley primer so she can lie and say how much her affordable morphe primer is sooooo much better
Jaclyn: “But also...my opinion is the truth”
Meeeee
Capricorn vibes lol
I’m ready for the return of tips, tricks, and tutorials ❤️
Please!!!!! We can only hope!
Yesssssss! It's what Jaclyn does absolutely best!
I don't think this video is showing much about dry skin.
i disagree
She didn't even start with a primer or moisturizer!
Its tips and tricks... not abt dry skin specifically
C Love Beauty she literally said tips and tricks for DRY SKIN it’s even on the thumbnail
Now we need to see you’re updated severe dry skin skincare routine!!

You have to try the moisture surge setting spray by Clinique it’s so hydrating and melts the foundation and powder together leaving a flawless finish
oh I didnt know they had that, I use the moisture surge bed time moisturizer
Marissa K is that any good?
VICTORIA MUNIS agree amazing range
Good to know
I don’t understand the flex: “my friend, also my EMPLOYEE Anthony “ why was that relevant? Seems diminishing?!
Veronica Viper she’s constantly talks about her friends & family ALL working for her.
I get annoyed when people flex
Veronica Viper seriously why is this bitch not cancelled cancelled.
I didn’t see it that way, I saw it more like just an excited way to say they spend a lot of time together? Idk
if he was a FRIEND FRIEND he wouldnt do things for her for money... so he is a frienployee ))
when your skin is oily as fuckkk but you love jaclyn so you watch it anyway
Ahhhh I tried the oil at the end and holy shit, my makeup just came together so beautifully. I am SHOOKETH
Alycia Jennings Did you use the exact same oil ?
Good question I was wondering the same thing. I'm going to try it with my drink Elephant marula and see how that goes. Xox
Angel Ferran yeah I bought this oil a little while back when she recommended it for a primer on dry skin, and it is the best.
@@alyciajennings6938 did u use setting spray at all??

I love jaclyn regardless, but I miss when her videos weren’t super professional.
I agree 😭 I miss knowing every brush number make and model
Jessica I agree- I like the more intimate feel. Even if it’s a “home studio”

Ok shouldn't the skincare routine before the makeup be part of this? Because if you have dry skin prep is a HUGE part of making your makeup look good. And there are full coverage more hydrating concealers. If you're actually that dry you can't wear drying matte concealers without looking like the crypt keeper.
Couldn’t agree more 😘
Skin care + hydrating primers are everything with dry skin.
And usually luminous/natural, light to medium cocerage foundations & tinted moisturizers work much better than full coverage.
And spot concealing if needed. I love Too Faced BTW Concieler because of it’s full coverage, but not drying w skin like finish.
Right?! I was confused that the first product she put on in the video, she didn’t even mention...
100% ... skin care is SUPER important! But, I don’t think I could afford whatever her routine is 🤣
She didn’t share what brand of blush it is... bet she is working on her own blush.
You’re probably right.. especially since Jaclyn Cosmetics just posted a photo with a peachy background... 🤔
You would think she’d re launch her lipsticks and have it be successful before she brought out more products :/
Who would buy it??? Lmao
I’m almost positive it’s one of the ilia multisticks. I manage a Sephora and we sell those like crazy
Well after her last insta stories we all know she has something up her sleeve...🤔
She doesn’t look like herself anymore
She has also gained a ton of weight which is why her face is 100 times fuller
Molly muscles oh damn that’s what it is! I couldn’t put my finger on it, yes! She’s heavy
I still haven't adjusted to how full her face has gotten....I don't know that I ever will..
Vintage.Heart_ by the time we adjust a year from now, watch her lose wait and we gotta READJUST 😂
no not at all! for someone who said they were working out and losing weight 6 months ago or so is off. i think shes pregnant. if you go back threw her vids that much weight gain and puffiness in her face only adds up if shes pregnant.
I love how you’re not afraid to point out your “flaws” and just embrace them! You are unapologetically you and it’s amazing 🙆🏻♀️❤️
I love that about her as well ♡
I'm originally from florida and have been in los angeles for 3 years and my skin has never been drier honestly, completely different climate so I feel it! Hands and scalp too

Peni Parker yeah, it’s definitely the weather. I moved from Missouri to New Mexico and lemme tell you how DRY my skin got within a week of moving here. It’s crazy. Lol
It would’ve been nicer if she would’ve zoom in to see up close the final results to see how that oil trick helps you not look powdery
Elena Herrera ikr! But, as a makeup artist, trust me it works. 🙈 I use Embryolisse Lait Créme
@@academyd9246 do you mean you use that creme instead of the oil to pat down on dryness or cakiness? I have that moisturizer, just wondering how I can use it in place of the Smashbox primer oil

Shahbano Bari Oh! And just do it the same as Jaclyn. ☺️
I used to love her, now i cant seem to watch her videos anymore🙈

Hi 👋
I wanted to follow someone new so I found this girl, she had a ton of followers and she looks and sounds cool but.... Is something wrong with her face? Her face 3 years ago was slimmer. I know its not weight gain because its all in her face? Is she suffering from a disease or something?
Kelsey Mccarthy you read my mind! Lol
My hubby and I both have extremely dry skin I’ve been trying so many products so far nothing has been helping :(
Daisy Madrid rose hip oil
“ I have no idea what I’m doing.”
“ I have so many tips and tricks”
Jigsaw is still lying I see 🙄🙄🙄
i was just going “no no no no noooooo” throughout the video 😅 then I came across the one where Robert Welsh (a pro MUA) reacts to this and he said it all.
wait until you realize that different things work for different people.
You need to share your skincare routine, I dont care how bougie it might be, I'm dry all over and no moisturizer cuts it for me 😩
Jaclyn, I just love how you still explain everything you do! Always teaching us! Not just quick talk throughs and products, you really tell us the why’s and how’s and it’s amazing!! I’ve been watching your videos since you first started in your kitchen! You have taught me so much about products and application. Thank you!!
Just feels too forced. And I'm not talking about you Jacyln or fans, I think I'm just too tired. I think when it comes to editors on youtube, professional camera men just turns me off now. They do such a good job not trying to take away, I just feel like I'm watching a 10 minute commercial..
I feel you girl
i’ve been feeling this way but have struggled to formulate it into words. i’m by no means saying i think making and editing videos is easy, but to me, that’s always been the special thing that youtubers had and crafted unique to themselves. using a professional just seems less personal, and almost “easier”.
I think its the solid color background. It comes off sleek and professional but it does look like a commerical.

Please go back to the regular furniture backgrounds with your hair in a messy bun on top of your head...I feel like these are so distracting and make you less relatable. I miss the videos in your white and silver themed makeup room...very chill and calming. It felt real and less produced. Been a fan since 2012 so I’m a supporter just giving constructive feedback. Also FREE the baby hairs!
She's still the same person. You wouldn't sit back in your room and act all "relateable" when you're several years older and have grown so much. This is diminishing and rude
@@MelakKhaleelArts its neither dismissing nor rude lol. she just said she prefers the regular room background to the studio background. I mean I guess the studio might be offended, but ok
You realize she has kinda been uprooted lately, right?
Yes I didn’t mean to literally go back to the same furniture background. I just meant to say I prefer when she did more casual and less produced videos. It felt like she was just hanging out with us and chatting. It was not meant to be rude or diminishing. I apologize if that’s how it came off.
Try to: move in a new city, have anxiety, still wanting to be extremely productive regardless of the bad place her mind is at right now...I wouldn't be any different to her!

Nicole S did you do it with water based foundation??? Or is your foundation oil based?? I know oil & water don’t mix so I’m terrified!!!
