    Facts vs assumption/opinion!!!!!!
It’s a challenge in the ELVIS community!!!
Communication, an open mind, learning from others… such key points when it comes to ELVIS’ story.
It seems nowadays that you are either in the Priscilla camp or Linda’s or gingers, or reds…. Etc…. And each camp hates each other. They all take the moral high ground and attack!!!!!
He’s bigger than it all ❤I take that from this chat!
Awesome discussion. So much involved that I was chatting along with you.
Younger people like Mary - you are the future and boy the ELVIS world is lucky.
Sally is the force we didn’t know we needed in the ELVIS world. Now we have you Sally, we can never let you go! You truly give so much to the legacy of ELVIS, it’s inspiring!!!!!!
We are all the same people in different decades…. Loved that Sally - it’s the truth. In the 90s in high school, I’d go in with ELVIS and me in my bag and everyone was in to bands of the day!!!! Haha 😛 I wrapped my school books In ELVIS pics…. Back in the 90s it was harder to find ELVIS with no RUclips but gosh once you found him! Obsessed!
I am 1hr in but have to go to my mums but I had to get my thoughts down. I will continue soon and may add more haha 😛
But THANKYOU ladies. Iv shared everywhere and I hope others do too. Discussions like this must be heard.
    Elvis always and forever TCB

Absolutely agree with you Michelle about the different factions. I don't care for how Elvis fandom has devolved into some sort of shipper war like his life was a teen television drama and whichever girl you like is the one he loved the most. His life was real and his relationships are all a part of that but oddly, when I was in high school in the early 2000s the movie Walk The Line had just come out and in that movie it makes it seem like Elvis got Johnny Cash hooked on drugs. So people would incorrectly hate on Elvis for that so, it's always some noise around Elvis that his fans must always do our best to dispel! I do wish I'd had YT when I became an Elvis and my 89 year old Aunt is jealous of Elvis fans because our technology but then, I'm like how can you say that when you had the real thing & she did go to a concert! So she saw Elvis in person and all I get is footage! No fair, I would trade places in a heartbeat!

@@ElvisRose_It's always a hard job for us, the fans, to fight these silly "rumors"...but he deserves people to fight for him. His life has been beautifully complicated but he gave so much and still gives us so much that he has to be remembered in the best way. ❤ Every person around him gave their stories, opinions, truths..they all had a role in his life but they can't pretend to have known him completely and they have not to forget HE was the protagonist and he took many of his truths with him.

Michelle, I appreciate your thoughtful comment and the passion you have for Elvis and his legacy. Your point about the challenge of distinguishing facts from assumptions or opinions in the Elvis community is well-taken. It’s a reminder that we should approach Elvis’s story with an open mind and a willingness to learn from others.
Sally Hoedel’s book, 'Elvis: Destined to Die Young,’ has indeed been a revelation. Her painstaking research and the never-before-published information she presents have given us a new understanding of why Elvis died so young. Her contribution to Elvis’s legacy is truly inspiring.
Your comment about us all being the same people in different decades struck a chord. It’s a powerful reminder of our shared humanity and the timeless appeal of Elvis. Your memories of being an Elvis fan in the 90s, a time when it was harder to find Elvis, underscore his timeless appeal. It’s a reminder that Elvis continues to captivate people of all ages, across different decades.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for your commitment to keeping the conversation around Elvis alive.

I purchased Sally's book but just started to read it. I am a fan for 4 years and what got me first was Elvis voice. I cry through every song and of course read comments from fans and they spoke of his giving nature. It really blew me away and I told my daughter about Elvis and she was already an Elvis fan before me. Thrilled me. We took a trip to Graceland to pay our respects to this great man. And I agree with you and Sally that these documentaries have different stories and I thought, which is true? I have read over 30 books so far and none of them agree with dates when things happened. So funny! So I now have a day for every day of Elvis' life and fill it in with books and the dates they give or where he was. Very hard because I find one picture with 3 dates. Took about a year to get all information on his movies and I now have watched his movies over and over and love them. It is so nice when you see a video about Elvis and the information is actually correct. I love to be able to tell about a picture posted. To be able to give a date or what was going on. Love Elvis so much. Thank you for giving the truth. Elvis deserves that.

I’m about half way through her book and it’s such an eye opener, I’m so glad this part of his story is being told. On IG I commented on a post and someone replied back saying why do I care so much about him? They said I saw your page you are obsessed with him. My response was is I care about his TURTH that is what matters. Like Elvis once said “ people think you are crazy, if you talk about things they don’t understand.” Non Elvis fans don’t know his story and truth, so they think we are crazy for trying to correct them.

I am hanging on every word! Thanks to both of you for applying such logic to the subject of Elvis Presley. I too, get the occasional smirks from others who have chosen to accept only the most demeaning information about Elvis and their commentary suggests a questioning of my personal IQ. I have thought at times if I hear one more joke about his death on a toilet, I’m going to spit! Then, I remember Elvis’ sense of humor. He once told a story making fun of himself when he relayed that a friend brought a fan in to meet him. She was told that he would be out in a minute, that he was in the bathroom to which the fan responded, “I didn’t think he did that!” Elvis finished with a chuckle adding “I got news for you baby. I do it more than most people!” In the end, I simply suggest that when they are done focusing on his death, they should invest as much time learning about how he lived. I personally, had an uncle and a brother in law who died on the toilet, and one of them was a h*ll of a man!😜 Elvis tried time and time again to tell us that he was just a man but the truth of that ironically, makes him that much more of a super hero! Sally, I so admire how you articulate the subject. If anyone can sway a nay-sayer, it is you. I watch everything that you do.❤️

It is not okay! Those of us who experienced Elvis while he was alive are getting older and no longer have the same energy to defend him, so it's great to see a new generation that wants to get to know who he really was. He was so much more than his music and books should be written about what he meant to the world of today. ❤

My mother was of the OG Elvis generation and raised me on his music but when the miniseries about Elvis came out in 2005, we watched it together and I fell in love with him all on my own. Thankfully, I did have a good friend in school who also was into the 1950s but we were the only two who sported Elvis and James Dean t shirts in the hallways. Unfortunately, after my mother died I lost the one other person who loved Elvis like I do, other family members are fans but not the way she and I love him so it's why finding the Elvis community online has been such a blessing.

People tend to forget how much charity Elvis did, yes he tried to hide that he did that, but that makes it even more like true charity...
How many people knows about Presley place that helps homeless people for instance, or that he was a main part of why ST Judes could be built, or the Pearl Harbor monument, Elvis was a big part of that, he gave them big donations to do that...
He also helped to eradicate Polio from USA, he talked to USA's people about vacinate them against getting it...
Things like that are easy to find, but people tend not to look for, but he did a lot more...

The thing that gets me so pissed is that now we know so much more about Priscilla then we did when we read her 1985 book Elvis and Me. But as I look back?? It feels like Pure fiction now - I don’t believe any of it.
Why would anyone believe one word she said about Elvis after learning that she stole many millions from Lisa Marie??
She created a Hollywood trash novel during the National inquirer era. The bigger the lies the more money the publishers delved out. That’s how the genre worked.
Now it’s the Me Too generation and she reshapes the whole story for the Me Too generation, to make money all over again on the same story.
I just dont believe her - I believe Elvis dated Priscilla when she turned 18.
It’s amazing how she has thousands of photos of them together, but not a single photo or other evidence proving that he was a pedophile.
But for money -- let’s say all these really nasty things about Elvis and then demand in a court of law that she needs to be buried right next to him ?!?!?!
After 50 YEARS of being with other men??????? One in which she had a kid with ??????
    She is lying.

This was one extraordinary interview. I'm one of those "little old ladies" in her 80's that goes back to the very beginning. It's difficult to even express how I'm feeling that people of younger generations feel the very same way people like myself who were there feel. I went through my younger years of pure adoration of his looks, sex appeal, his voice, his persona. But as time went by, I came to feel, with limited knowledge to confirm it, exactly how you two express who he was as a human being. So your interview was quite fascinating to me. I'm truly thankful for the continued study & sharing. He's so worth it.

What on earth was going on in America at the time Mary says she was alone in being an Elvis fan because "nobody liked Elvis" back then? I can't remember a time in Australia when Elvis wasn't popular, and I think it was the same in the UK. The fan clubs were strong all the way through the 60's and 70's and after Elvis died, they got even more members - people who suddenly realised what the world had lost.

Thank you both, I absolutely loved this conversation and applaud you both for all you do to celebrate and continue Elvis’ legacy in many different ways. I must have sounded like I was rehearsing the famous deli scene from the When Harry Met Sally movie when I watched this video as I kept shouting “Yes! Yes!,Yes! So many of the points you both made resonated with me so much. It makes a refreshing change from shouting NO repeatedly at the many inaccurate and misleading videos out there. Sally knows that I’ve been trying to play my own small part in celebrating and continuing Elvis’ legacy through The Circle G Foundation and I have also been subject to many of the ‘discussions’ and ‘criticisms’ that you both describe. What has shocked me personally over the last 13 years that the ranch and continuing Elvis’ legacy has been a huge part of my life is the negativity from inside the ‘Elvis bubble’. But I have learned to do what I can to get the truth out there and to also pick my battles. I was around (only for 16 years) when Elvis walked the Earth but I totally recognised your description of how ‘un cool’ it was to like Elvis. I wrote a blog last year on how times have changed and that now it is pretty ‘cool’ to be an Elvis fan. Let’s keep doing what we do for Elvis. As you say it is a commitment and one I am happy to continue for many, many years to come. Thank you again.

Both brilliantly researched yet only one given respect as being historically correct and that is a shame. Thank you for your work. Rewatching this video and the part regarding the teacher thinking it was a joke about writing about Elvis. I can't comprehend why he's not giving credibility, I think it has to do with obviously the lack of knowledge regarding his health and nobody wanting to consider being wrong and that what they have heard are rumors and bs. Also this is exactly why I will always only purchase and own Elvis related things, whatever they are, only if they are of good taste. I will not buy anything diminushing him in any way, like Elvis socks, underwater, caricatural stuff. Maybe it's not that serious but, I don't know, it makes him be a character, an object, instead of a respectful human being. Same goes with events with a very bad impersinator or whoever dressed in an awful costume jumpsuit with all the caricatural traits. It is systematic with Elvis, if yiu point that out we tell you it is just a joke but, it is always like that for him, mockery and taking away from him. I do not understand.
Also regarding having to remind ourselves he did indeed lived, when someone tells me his age or birthrate or I read about any event, I systematically will link it to Elvis as "oh, Elvis was still alive" 😀

They spoke through a wire fence to each other. Daddy0 was a word for cool dude, and Lay it on me was a phrase that meant "tell me the facts". Sally, do you ever travel and do book tours to promote your book? I don't think it is well known in Australia and I am sure it would be of great interest to the media here if it was promoted. There aren't too many Australians left who saw Elvis live on stage (we' re getting older!), and I find myself being regarded as an expert on Elvis by virtue of flying across the world to see him when that was unheard of in the 1970's. I get people asking me all kinds of questions about him, and thanks to your book and a few of the more reputable books, I am able to answer with some degree of confidence.
