I have used cooked shrimp for trout here in Michigan. Works very good. If you figure out cost per bait they are cheaper than worms. Plus you can eat the shrimp if the fish aren’t biting. Thanks for the channel!
Here's a little hint from an old man. Cook your own shrimp and store them in the water you used. That way they keep more flavor slash smell to them and will attract better.
A hot day on Florida pier with a bag of frozen shrimp... 1 hour later the shrimp are cooked from being under the sun and they worked just the same, lol!
If they are Sargos they are better than gilt-head bream. At least here in the mediterranean sea the price of those Sargos are much higher so its not only my personal taste
@@HeySkipper As Geo said the best way to cook them is to dip them in flour and fry them. They're awesome. I eat them without lemon Juice. some people do. As well as I am sure that you can find Lebanese flat bread there. Fry the bread after frying the Sargos till they are golden color and put the fish mean on them and eat 😍😍
I think hanging out with you and your family would be a SCREAM!!! 😆 I really love your channel, my friend. I learn tons of info. I'd love to go surf fishing sometime. Thanks my friend.

Top video gents, those are black tails , im in Durban South Africa. Pleanty here esp in the winter months when the bigger blackies come out on average of 30 cm. Excellent eating when fried...
In Australia we call a very similar fish as silver bream. Very good to it in whole or filleted and baked with lemon and parsley and butter of course! Yeah, cooked prawn, or shrimp as you call it over there is good bait and I've used them all my life in Australia from the rocks, or on the beach or even in estuaries.
Blacktail or dassie from South Africa. Try not to throw them back too close to where you caught them. Throw them further away down the beach. They get spooked and communicate to their species, not to feed immediately. Your strike rate will drop for a moment.
that fish they caught pretty sure its a Sargo fish ,its a fish pretty common in the mediteranian sea and it taste good with lemon and french fries. also they tend to eat worms ,shrimps ,crabs and pretty much anything if they're hungry.
In south Africa we call cooked shrimp pink prawn. It's deadly bait. We catch tons of bluefish bronze bream and cob with cooked shrimp/pink prawn we also catch spotted grunter with pink prawn. You can buy it here in the stores cooked and frozen as bait.
the fish you don t know- the one with the black spot on tail- is same looking or same as a species in mediteranean sea , called seabream there. it s very tasty - a common fish to eat there. "zahnbrassen" we say in german. toothbream translated.. i just looked, but didn t found it - it is in the dentex family at least i can say, so very tasty

Many people have commented that the mystery fish is called a sargo, dassie, or blacktail. Unfortunately, none of those fish live off the coast of North America. But it's probably a close relative in the Sparidae family.

The only place I can buy worms is 40 minutes in the opposite direction from where I fish which has caused me to try everything I can think of from the supermarket. At the moment, I have frozen supplies of small whole smelts, uncooked shrimp and raw chicken hearts. My fishing is entirely in a nearby inland stream and I cannot say definitively which of the baits work the best. What I can say however is that I seem to be catching more catfish than I ever have before.
Black margate (Anisotremus Surinamensis) , That fish is named after the country I come from and yet I have never seen it before. It looks like a kind of sea bream to me and it must be really good to eat. But tastes differ.

Hey Skipper. You are loosing too many fish because you are setting the hook when you have almost a circle hook. If you retrieve instead of setting the hook, you will land way more fish. Also I love your invisible tread. Great work man
...the fish at 8:40 in the video is known as (1) a spot tail pinfish, (2) sailors choice, (3) porgy...the are a pinfish's bigger cousin , and are delish to eat, hence the name sailors choice...that was a keeper...
...I cook spot tails on the grill...heads off, scales on (scales on protects it from the heat of the grill...I only use charcoal), butterfly cut from the dorsal, through the ribs to the belly(but not through), leaving it in one piece...the same as you would do for smoked mullet...some lemon pepper and butter...fish don’t need to be huge to be good eating...
Haven’t even started watching the video yet but cook shrimp works way better for freshwater catfish and drum versus uncooked for me! Guessing it’s the color combination and probably the smell that comes off of them when they’re cooked in the microwave for about 30 seconds along with stinking up my house
The fish every one is calling blacktail, in Brazil they are called marimba. They have a black skin inside their belly that must be removed or the fish will taste bad. Removing it, very tasty.
Have you tired shore line fishing in Southern California such as Huntington Beach, New Port Beach, etc. I can never get past the waves. Also, I’m not talking about pier fishing. I would like to see you fish in aggressive waves like the ones we have. The beaches you fish always look for calm.
I prefer bringing cooked shrimp. If fish ain't biting, I take a sip of my Corona Extra and dig in the bait.
Man now this a fishing tip lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I used cooked shrimp for 45 yrs, mostly because its easy to get and it stays on when casting, even without bait elastics, it always worked well.

How do you cook them ?
Buy them already cooked and ready to eat from the grocery store. You can sprinkle garlic powder on the shrimp for extra scent too.
@@Yatsys_Fishing thanks, much appreciated

Thank you for the hint sir
In South AFRICA we call those black tail. Good eating. Those are descent size, but they get much bigger. Up to about 2 to 3kg on the transkei coast.

Hi. That is a blacktail. They are alot is south africa on the west coast. Nice to eat
was about to say that. yep good eating fishing, that black spot on the tail gives it away.
Use bagged medium frozen shrimp from Sam's Club. It's reasonably cheap and the fish eat it just as well as any bait house shrimp.
Wow east coast fishing is easy.
Ive just started using cooked shrimp. I was catching so quickly, I didnt get chance to set up my second rod. Love your channel btw. So natural.
Even cooked or non cook if fish is hungry...they eat your bait...I like his video.
That’s exactly what my dad said! Appreciate you 🙏
Silver bream steam with ginger & shallots nice.
Hey Skipper, here in SA we call the fish you cought with the black dot on the tail "Kolstert" or a "Dassie" nice eating on the coles.
lets stick to english names { is spoken worldwide }....its a blacktail sea bream !
Hi, its called Blacktails. Plenty along the north coast of South Africa." Great eating fried"
I use cooked shrimp marinated in Gulp scent spray. It's pretty amazing.
Bermuda Chubs, black margate, spottail pinfish.
If trying to catch small fish in the surf, try earth worms. They don't last long, but they do catch bait fish.

Bass and catfish in our cove go crazy for cooked shrimp it’s my go to bait for the lake
I am going to try the cooked shrimp next time I hit the beach. Great idea.
I've not seen an Asian family fish together. This was a nice video.

Aloha from Maui! I've had some great fishing days using both ahi poke and cooked shrimp

Diplodus sargus , just on grill with salt and peper it is delicious

Porgies are very good to eat. lots of restaurants have them on their menu. Can be filleted and makes a excellent sandwich.. Porgy is a keeper.
Pliers are essential for fishing. It amazes me how many people don't carry them. Extracting a hook from yourself or a buddy is tough without them.
I would try shrimp scampi
We have those here in Portugal, tasty fish on the grill
Hello, this fish is found in the Mediterranean Sea. It is called Sargus, and it is delicious to eat

Chicken breast is the best just put only a lot of salt til becomes hard then slice a pieces depends on the size. Of hooks
Its called a black tail in South Africa because of the black spot on the tail.

That first fish you caught, we.call it a lippy, for obvious reasons. They are one of the best tasting fish in sea.
Due to their high protein diet.

It worked for me in the med
What did you catch?
The name of the fish is sargo
If you know cats don't fish , it's always good to eat your bait
😁
The invisible line does it dissolve? Kinda bad to put line in the water as the animals get tangled in it.
In Italy we call it Sarago
Nice. Only take ones you like to eat
ok, I am a complete beginner at surf fishing so I have a question. what do the colored beads do?
