Nicely put together video mate, this really is a lonnnnng year for the game and specially content creators. Feels a bit like the 2014/2015 game cycles where a mix of the IRL title fight and the game being very mid means the interest just isn't at the same level for playing the game yourself or watching content from it.

F1 Manager really was a fresh breath of air that players have been longing for. The current F1 game has been lacking so much passion with its development that it's not worth playing anymore. How many features and bugfixes have been requested for years that Codies haven't pulled through? This makes it feel like all they do is update the menu, tune the AI, update the liveries and publish the game (obviously it's more than that).

It's great that Codemasters' F1 finally has some competition. F1 Manager feels like a breath of fresh air for the F1 license. I hope this makes Codemasters put more effort into their next F1 game/games to release with more content, i.e. returning the classic cars, add more tracks, more customisation for your car & team, perhaps expand on the management side of the career mode, and hopefully launch without the same bugs it always has with each game.

Another factor to consider is that F1 Manager had the chance to analyse F1 Clash (previously known as F1 Manager), the mobile game that for years was the less frustrating way to engage with F1 in mobile (because the F1 Mobile game is undriveable). So, for many people, this new game was the extension of something already known and that works really well.

From the game engine being so old to the lack of mod support and then the direction that the F1 games seem to be going in, it's not really that surprising that F1 22 is much less popular that the F1 Manager game
F1 22 still has so many bugs from many years ago and they still haven't been fixed despite them being brought up time and time again
Frontier devs actually listen to the community and make patches and updates to keep the community happy while codies...kinda...didn't.
Whether it's audio glitches, SC bugs, lack of online stuff, career mode barely being changed between game cycles...it's just a losing battle unless something major changes.

  • @ecksoal
    @ecksoal Год назад +7

I think F1 22's issues is that a lot of people had (rightfully) very high expectations with a next gen F1 game, laser scanned circuits, classic cars/circuits, more realistic and dynamic driving, damage, weather etc. What we really got though was pretty much just a copy/paste F1 2021 (which itself was a copy/paste of 2020 and 2019) same weird handling quirks, inaccurate circuits, stupid AI, predictable weather, meh sound and graphics. It's more of the same that we've been seeing from Codemasters since F1 2016 and people are bored of it, you can get basically the exact same experience from the older games.
Probably also doesn't help that they decided to add something like the F1 life interior design mechanic when core racing features are still poor or broken.

This season has been the worst since 2015 really, no title battle and no interesting races (2019, 2020 for example had lots of good races even though there wasn’t a title fight)
On top of that, the cars just aren’t as fun to drive as the previous games, so little traction on the rear, along with a front end that doesn’t want to stop.

Have one game every 2/3 years
Every couple months there will be a season new classic cars and tracks
Each season will be themed so the autounion streamliner and Avus Ring for example
Let people have more modularity on the setup of the car
Add a wind tunnel mode where you can design your own wings and floor
And a engine designer so if someone decides to make a engine that revs to 20k rpm with massive turbo lag they can if they want
Then at the end of every 2 or 3 seasons there will be a break from seasons and instead there will be a limited time event
So a senna event beat sennas lap records in his cars at different tracks to unlock special items

I've bought and played the hell out of every Codemasters F1 game since 2009's Wii release. F1 22 has never been more expensive, and it was hugely disappointing the see that the only new feature from last year was basically an IKEA simulator. The on-track gameplay was pretty much the same as last year. My Team was pretty much a copy and paste job and I haven't bothered with it this year. League racing has been the only reason for me to play. F1 Manager has been fun! It's not perfect, with some flaws around the way driver contract and signings happen, lack of Young Driver Academies, and no custom car liveries, but it has gone above and beyond what Codmasters have managed to achieve with car development and race management.
If both developers can learn and improve from each other, then surely it would push both games to be the best they can be. F1 22 need to focus on the driving for 23. I was playing with EA Play, but I ended up cancelling my subscription last month. Every single EA game feels the same. Nevertheless, my gripes are significant. Booting crashes, menu bugs, AI being on completely different physics, absolutely horrendous Force Feedback on three entirely different bases (G923, Fanatec DD 8nm, and then Logitech G Pro DD wheel/pedals), spectator bugs, highly questionable physics for even a "simcade", drivability issues, and overall lack of depth or substance.
It's literally the same exact game just copied and pasted year over year with tweaks to the menu, HUD, and liveries. I'm glad to have Portimao and China, but how many years are they going to tease new tracks and then give us the same exact ones? All of the cars have had the same major components since Silverstone when Williams brought their major update, yet months later they haven't updated one cars liveries or chassis aside from the "one-off liveries" of Ferrari and McLaren. That's incredibly lazy considering the rate of development for AMS2, RF2, ACC, or the mods in AC. They still haven't laser scanned any of the tracks and have introduced ridiculous bumps on several tracks (unpaid mod creators literally push out laser scanned tracks in a matter of two weeks), and every single update introduces new bugs. The best part of F1 22 is F2, and that's ridiculous.
I would much rather EA/Codemasters release on a two year cycle, where they push out DLC for $10 the second year and then release a fresh new game the following year. They'll never let mods in because it would annihilate their annual sales as everyone would just mod the game to reflect the real world in these stable regulations. Hell, some creators have already put out F1 2026 PU content in AC, ASM2, or RF2. A new engine (completely fresh coding), physics model, and approach is absolutely necessary. Don't touch career mode. Focus on fixing bugs, physics, Force Feedback, and multiplayer issues. It's embarrassing to watch F1 E-Sports on this game. You HAVE to do the small, mundane, seemingly inconsequential things right before you can ever achieve the larger objectives. I won't buy anymore EA/Codemasters F1 games until there is better attention to detail and an upgraded engine/physics/coding.

As a PS5 console owner, the F1 22 is hard to play on a controller. To have 100% fun with F1 22 I would have to buy a steering wheel and have a lot of time. F1 22 Manager gives me the excitement of managing a team without the biggest pain - controlling the controller and unequal difficulty setting on different tracks.

I really hate this A or B thing everyone does. They are both good games, they both have several bugs. And most importantly, they are COMPLETELY different games. And as per usual when something new comes out people generally try to push the narrative that it is the end of what was there before and that what's new is better. But if you look at the numbers of creators, F122 still gets around 30-50% more views than F1 Manager

I watched F1 a lot, this year's wasn't my taste for some reason, I just ended up turning for Sergio Pérez (I'm Mexican), but this year I had an itch to play F1 game, played since 09 to 2013 then jumped until 2016 and stopped playing, I got the 2022 and 2021 games and men they are for some reason lacking in some areas, then I end up seeing 2019-2020 and they are the best but unfortunately are pricey because they are delisted in online platforms.
I think the F1 games had a base of fans that are not going to support the EA business model, they usually go 1 year a mid to good game to a year with a lacking or simply bad game.
I don't think is the engine, I think it's that they could be doing a new build for the new gen and they had problems with it, like when it was 2014-2015, and the EA management too.
For me F1 manager 2022 gives me the perfect fix for F1 games and the fix for a simple game, I can have the steam deck while lunch, and in the night maybe ps4 version.
In my country F1 2022 is at 20-30$ dollars, it got cheap pretty quick and even at that price is not selling, it's nearly the same price as 2021, the people is actually asking for 2019 and 2020 which are little more pricey.
*Edit, you know what, I feel they don't cared this year, there's new UI in the F1 transmission and they got stuck with the old one, in Spanish they had the same comments, even they kept the same errors, I don't like they want to put the EA logo in every place in the game (just give me the F1 exp, they do that tin every EA Sports game).

Yep I believe this 100%. When I first started playing F1 (thanks to watching Limitless when youtube recommended his channel) I was like wow how did I miss out on this game??? I got f1 19,20,21 and all 3 are in my top 15 games of all time played on steam. I was planning on getting f1 22 (I usually wait for a sale as I never buy any game new anymore). RUclips started to recommend channels with F1 manager. So I started to watch them and wanted to try it. Wanted to try it soooo badly I paid for the game full price. I haven't done that in years. I have played that game soooo much that F1 22 is free this weekend and 50% off and I don't even care to play or buy it. Normally I would jump all over a deal like that, but I haven't even thought about buying it. Even after watching the esports races. I am full into f1 manager. It is number 2 in my steam library. It's only behind flight simulator. It will probably pass that up next month. I play a race a day. Already on season 4. It is just an awesome game, especially if you start off with a bad team and try to build it up.

Honestly EA should've seen it coming and should work harder on F1 2023. A management game shouldn't be in competition with a racing game, yet F1 Manager absolutely destroys F1 2022 in every point they can be compared.
Personally my interest in both the real F1 season and the F1 game are dropping massively since the big f ups by the FIA last season and since EA bought Codies and I went from ~500h on F1 2020, to ~200h on F1 2021 and ~35h on F1 2022 because we get the same thing over and over again with even more bugs and less content.

My opimion about the future of F1 22...scrap all non driver career related stuff out of the game. Get rid of supercars, scrap My Team mode and add a more deeper experience focused on the driver career.
Start with FIA Formula 3 and work up the ranks into F2 until you finally reach F1. Don't let the player just choose the team which they want to drive for, let the teams make offers to the player, regarding of the results they are able to pull off on track. Let also the training programs pay into account to these offers from other teams.
Add pre season testing and, let the player drive a F1 car in free practice, while they are still driving F2 or F3, like in real life.
Add a more interactive race weekends, like a fully walkable Paddock with the different Motorhomes of the teams and possible interactions. If you wanna negotiate a new contract with lets say McLaren, go to their Motorhome.
Integrate more interaction with the team, key team members. Like briefings to 'discuss' setups and goals for the raceweekend or just the strategy for the upcoming race.
Add a more diverse interview system with different journalists and more, different and logical questions. Bring in press conferences and after race interviews.
F1 games from Codemaster/EA are there for driving the car not managing a team, focus on that and let the player manage a driver career and put more emphasis on this inside the F1 world.
It must be clear, if you wanna be a driver, play F1 2x.
You wanna manage a Team, pick the F1 Manager 2x.

    Retro cars
