- My REAL RUclips Channel is here: / frugalrepair Here is a better video I made explaining the parts inside of an LED TV: • How an LCD TV Works - ...
Want to know what is inside an LCD LED TV? Or want to know a little bit about what an LED backlight is on a TV? This video shows you what is inside when you take off all of the various layers.
Very useful video. Precise and to the point .no Fuss. Thanks a ton.
Good introductory look inside an LCD LED TV, plus a little info on which layers are doing what. Thanks John!
Thanks!
Cheers for this!
Thank u very much brother. You are a legend
wonderful video!
Thank you so much for this!!
Thanks. I hope to do a much better video explanation on my other channel soon.
Thank You very much....
where can I buy a roll of the prism filter sheet material? its the only diffuser I have found that works well for leds while looking at a screen. thx
Can you clean the sheets and diffuser with alcohol to get rid of water damage?

How do edge lit tv’s like samsung nu8000 or Q7F get decent black levels with the bottom edge lit “ultra slim array?” It has good black uniformity, for being edge lit, and the black levels themselves are about 8/10 if full array was 9/10 and oled was 10/10.
How can they do this just lighting from the edge?
Were those little gold tabs all around the screen part of the buffer circuit or just tape to secure the screen?
So the actual LCD screen is also made of layers of different material? How can the LCD screen have what looks like water spots? Thank you 🤓 the whole monitor screen works, but there are a couple of noticeable what looks like water as pots. Can the screen be taken apart,& the spots cleaned?
Sir name of that plastic diffuser which looked like glass
That last reflector sheet buying link pls
I opened up an LG LED screen to replace the lights but when I was reassembling it, I mistakenly disarranged the diffusing mechanism, so, I'm now confused. I don't know the correct arrangement of the these four materials; ie, the diffusing material, the two reflecting materials, and the hard plastic. Please give me some advise
Hi, thanks for reaching out. This is my new youtube channel (ruclips.net/user/frugalrepair). This is the only video I have on this channel (and its fairly old) and I have more information about screens/ tvs on the main channel. If you subscribe there you should be getting more videos like this.
To answer your question, usually starting with the backlight you have 1) light guide plate, 2) diffusion film 3) light brightness (prism films) 4) LCD (polarizers are adhered to the lcd). Does that help? One of the biggest issues that you will have is keeping dust out. After you put it back together you may see what looks like dead pixels on the screen but they are just dust/debris.
@Emmanuel Bahati i did the same thing as you, did you manage to find out
Hello, can you clean those diffusers in any kind of way?
There are notches on the sides that determine placement, I took mine off and lined them up and stacked them so I knew what order. I cleaned them with broad alcohol strokes to get rid of water damage and keep from leaning streak, unfortunately I cracked the main led "screen" putting it back together. It seemed like it was gonna work tho. I would align the tabs and just try a process of elimination with the order of the sheets
what if you mix the light Diffusor on accident?
What is the the right name for thos plastic frames
I think the light guide plate is there to redirect the LED light coming from bottom of the TV towards front of the screen
Yes, you are right. On an edge lit led display the light needs to be distributed evenly so that you don't notice when you are looking at the display/tv. The strip of led's are usually on the edge of the light guide plate so the light shines through the plastic. There are dots on the back side of the plate to help bounce the light toward the lcd panel.
My led Tv light diffuser's has some water in em...anyway of cleaning them? The Tv is functioning normally but you can see the water marks inside.
Yes, they can be cleaned but you really need to be careful not to break the panel. When you open it up you will most likely introduce dust or other particles (these are made in dust free rooms at the factory) so you need to watch for that. Those particles will make it look like you have dead pixels but it really is just the dust. If you attempt it, I'd use isopropyl alcohol to wipe away the mineral deposits left behind by the water damage.
Straightforward description satisfying my curiosity, thank you!
I've a Toshiba TP 48 E50 rear projection tv manufactured in 1996 that's experiencing no picture but sound is ok. This condition occurred suddenly, operating fine the day before. I've checked all settings and cable connections from the cable box to the set and are all as they should. The remote control changes volume and stations as normal as can be heard but not seen. Opening the front and back panels of the set to inspect, I'm finding three crt lamps. I'm suspecting something that controls the three lamps is affecting this as having all of them burn out at once doesn't seem plausible. Any experience with these or any ideas on what can be causing the issue?
Great work my local made LED Tv Prism film is damage. I don't understand what kind of material is it. your video helps to know about Prism film.
Thanks!
Hello, in my samsung led tv, the last white piece have a soft face and coarse face , which one is toward the panel ? thanks
Were you replacing the led backlight? I'm not sure which side goes which way. Look in the corners and along the edge to see if there is a cut-out that matches to something on the metal frame. That may give you a clue. If you don't know and it is a perfect rectangle, then choose the side that looks shinier. You want the light reflected forward toward the screen.
is the sequence of that films stanfards for all lcd tv's and monitors?
Yes, it's pretty standard
hi can i ask if i got the diffusing mechanism order wrong, would this make my tv picture have thin lines top to bottom?
Lines are probably from the LCD. But they should go in correct order, diffusion film closest to LED and the prism filters closer to the LCD.
what if we replace the led backlight with ultraviolet led ,will it emit ultraviolet images
If the ultraviolet waves got through both polarizers and the lcd you still wouldn't be able to see them because the majority of the UV light spectrum is not visible to the human eye. You might possibly be able to see a faint image on the screen due to the small visible portion of the light (why it looks violet to our eyes), where the wavelength is still long enough for our eyes to detect something. But even if you "saw" anything it would not be a UV image in the technical sense, it would be a visible light image.
How do you Clean Dust Inside an LCD TV Screen , Without taking the TV apart ? Can I use air from a compressor , and just blow inside the air vents of the TV ??
You will need to take the TV apart in order to lift the lcd screen up enough. My trick is to get a long folded up piece of paper and lightly moisten the end and try to "grab" the dust. No, you can't use an air compressor, unfortunately.
Great video! Can you please elaborate on the layers? I had to clean the sheets of some oily substance and mixed up the order they go back into the TV. HELP!
Ha usually we don’t put a tv back together! Just speaking as a scrapper.
That oily substance is liquid crystal.
hi there is the tv panel connected to any think thanks for your videos
Is the Light Guide Plate anti-static? or Static Free?
I don't know. Its a piece of plastic with a dot pattern on one side to direct the light. Why would it matter?
Rhys John I just have a few that I want to do an electronic project on.
Something bumped my 4k vizio now the screen looks cracked but its not someone said something about pixel bleeding. Any idea how to fix?
If there is an issue with the lcd panel itself, I don't think you will be able to do anything to fix it. If I could see a photo or video of it I could tell you more specifically. Sorry for the bad news. What it could be is something called a bruise on the lcd. The polarization of the light gets messed up slightly because of some warping in the lcd panel. There is nothing that I know of that you can do to easily repair that.
Haii sir very good
How thick exactly is that sheet of plexiglass acrylic?
I don't know exactly, maybe 1/8". It depends on the TV. It is called the light guide plate on many lcd's.
On the Samsung UE49NU71000KXxu led TV im fixing its 2.5mm thick.
Can you use any plexi glass? As long as the same thickness?
What is that color white sheets?
The white sheet is to reflect the light forward through the light guide plate. There are 3 films on top. The first is a diffusion film, and the next two are prism (to focus the light forward) films. These last two are also called light brightners.
Thank you for this video. May I ask what that white sheet/filter is called after you lifted the main LCD? ruclips.net/video/7z7lXrI1vbs/видео.html
It's a prism film or sometimes called a light brightener
@@reese7305 Thank you so much for replying. Are they replaceable? drive.google.com/drive/folders/10mkjkiELVJIKgmg2K-M_ihszggRVahy7?usp=sharing
So that's why the older LCDs were so thick.
Older LCD's were thicker because of the backlight. They used CCFL lights which take up more space than the leds.
you dont know the names of the layers?
Those are just a sheet 1:47
Lcd or led?????
Well, it's really both. The LED is the backlight, the LCD is the display. With any LCD, you need a light sources to pass through it in order to see the image.
Your video was not so clear , you didn't show the papers in details. I am in satisfied
And your English is not clear
You are not getting any subs because you are not helpful at all. TALK!! tell us the name of the part, do something. I can take apart an LED tv and show you the parts but that is pointless.
lol meanwhile his other chanel has 80k+ subs. how are your 2?
@@scottfckalltodowithu9634 I'm not trying to get RUclips followers dumbass. If you are trying to burn me find something actually works
Yar. The video is most uninformative.
