I thought Macaroni Cheese was so bizarre when I first heard it, but now I can't stop listening to it lmaoooo XXL had my ass quick, too The XXL music video immediately reminded me so much of the music video for Army Of Me by Björk
The, XXL deserves a full album check out, it's so good! Idk the producer, but this producer and these girls, are a match made in heaven. This group feels like a crew of Hip Hop 😅
Young Posse are too cool!!! I'm obsessed!!!! Like a song about macaroni cheese shouldn't slap this hard!!! And they got me even more obsessed with XXL. The whole ep is fire!! Their mvs make me feel like I'm watching some nickelodeon show from the 90s!!!
My personal theory is that Sunhye was just really hungry when she wrote Macaroni Cheese ... to quote Sigmund Freund: sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Then, it seems that they start of the title track with something ... cheesy ... ? ... and then on the B-sides go into their personal experiences: OTB on the debut, and on the XXL album there is the ROTY track (which I really like) them spitting about their personal thoughts. Macaroni Cheese and XXL where directed by the same guy, Ben Proulx. Ben actually did a reaction to the first reactions that popped up in YT in the first two days after the XXL release and explains some things in there; that big guy who is in both clips is a real life pal of him who is 6'6" and literally goes by the name Massoman. And I agree ... there are rappers that are technically really good - but simply treat rap as a different form of singing. And there are rappers who see rap as more than just a technique. And the Young Posse girls are legit in that. (Just as a sidenote, when you listen to the other tracks on the album - Sunhye not only writes the lyrics, is main rapper and main dancer - she can actually sing as well). I'm officially impressed. For me, they are indeed the rookies of the year. You should definitely check out the other songs on the XXL album.
if you ever plan on reacting to them again, i really recommend reacting to some of their bsides and specially the performance video for OTB which has the full song, the title is 'OTB' MOVING CAM Ver., the our summer memories mv was just a special gift to fans. young posse up is also a remixed version of their bside POSSE UP, so you could check the original version out too if you feel like it, the members Sunhye, Yeonjung and Jiana also wrote their own verses. thank you for the reaction!!!!!!
finally a GG that raps and writes their own stuff!!! after Macaroni Cheese I listened to it so much that I can almost sing the whole thing when I hear the instrumental. I am so excited for them and love their work!!!!!
Macaroni Cheese is not a euphemism for anything, please. They are children and they wrote a silly song about their love for Mac and cheese by themselves. THEY wrote the song.
Been a fan since debut!!! I'm so excited to see where they go! Always keen to see what they come out with next. XXL has been stuck in my head for DAYS!!! ❤
Tu sonrisa confusa durante todo el vídeo 😂 haha Este grupo es sinceramente algo nuevo y refrescante para mi. Todos sus álbums contienen canciones granciosas! Aprecio tu reacción bro 🤝🏻
There are idols who have flatly, openly stated that they showed up, trained, and just before debut someone in management went "You, we need a rapper, you be the rapper." What you said makes total sense.
Your reaction on the young posse up was accurate 😂, i was going crazy first time I heard it on the EP , I feel like they are going to get even better in the future , great reaction 🤍
Ok, so macaroni cheese it's just damn fun... all that matters here. They definitely have a hella lot of talent. I can't wait to see what they can do. 😅😅😅
I gotta drop the link to Verbal Jint, probably one of the most OG Korean rappers out there. He's been around for a long minute and has collabs with damn near any and everyone. You can tell it's about the music for him. These are two of my favorites from him. (I know these are blasts from the past but still good today) "You Look Good" - ruclips.net/video/NFJ10iqNgMo/видео.html and "My Audi" - ruclips.net/video/1D9NbFp7Pto/видео.html -- Worth checking out. Would love to see a youngins' take on some older Korean rap.
Verbal Jint is literally the OG godfather of korean rappers (Im guessing maybe the only time you've heard him is if you ever reacted to Taeyeon's solo single "I"....it's literally the only exclusive kpop song he's done other than maybe the collab he did with Baek Ji Young but that's OLD). He basically created the rhyme structure that ALL korean rapping is based off of now. The reason why he's featured on Posse Up is bc the ceo of Young Posse's company is Kiggen who is another old school rapper who was in a group called Phantom (with Hanhae). He's also songwriting partners with Verbal Jint. It's a HUGE HUGE HUGE deal that a rookie kpop girl group has him on the track......it's actually kind of wild Also, for XXL, the 90s hip hop vibe is bc it's a direct sample of the song "Come Back Home" by Seotaeji from 1995 off their 4th album (the VERY FIRST kpop group ever....one of the members is actually the YG of YG entertainment and another member worked with BSH and found all the members of BTS). The girls even included a bunch of the choreo from that song
Young Posse Nice!👍 My favorite styles of kpop are the cute / innocent ones & the really crazy ones. The director of all their mvs (Ben Proulx) said his inspiration for his work for young posse are Looney Tunes & the old Nickelodeon TV shows. There are some nice behind the scenes videos of the mvs on his channel, if you're interested.
‘dnd’ and ‘skyline’ off their newest ep XXL showcase their vocals and when i say they ALL can sing i mean it. these girls are an amazing group of all-rounders and they’re definitely not given enough credit in the rookie world. they deserve more support and i can only hope that their next comeback will establish a solid fanbase for them, i think xxl caught a lot of people’s attention but sadly not enough to stick around for the long haul.
To tell you a little about Verbal Jint, he's a first gen Khiphop rapper. He's considered one of the most influential rappers in Korea bc he was one of the rappers that pioneered rhyming in Korean in Korean hip hop. If you listen to rap aongs before him, they don't rhyne, they just talk to a rhythm. NSW Yoon is a newer rapper who is influenced heavily by UK Drill.
Tbh, DSP Media and the girls of Young Posse had some BALLS to drop and debut with something like macaroni cheese, like every new debut on the 5th gen is a New Jeans dupe and kpop stans absolutely eat those nj dupes and hate on whatever is different. Every Young Posse song shows how much the girls adore a good rap and hip hop.
not sure if anyone caught the XXL homage to Seo Taiji and the Boys "Come Back Home" with the beat and portions of the dance. These girls are sharp and have a great future. They are really catching speed over here in Korea.
Your video was my first intro to them. The songs are very hit or miss with me. Half the songs I really enjoyed and the other half felt like parody 😂 Also pinkpatheress, Doja cat, and summer walker are all pretty great. Mix it up and listen to some western artist once in a while
i definitely see what you mean by it feels more mature with young posse up but i feel like that stems from it feeling more krnb than kpop and that genre is usually just more older
Some of my favorite hip hop songs by kpop artists are 1cm Taller Than You and Sleep In The Car by MAMAMOO(RBW owns DSP and YP did a pre-debut show with MMM+ and others btw) because they're fun songs about their lives without cliches. To me it gives more Underground than Parody, and similar vibe esp with Macaroni Cheese. I know there are a lot of good idol rappers, but there are definitely plenty of kpop songs that make me wish more groups would try to do the rap on the same level as the singing and dancing.

I think considering xxls views and that's it's being talked about a lot + higher sales than their debut, they would be fools to give up this early when they're actually gaining fans.
