I agree. I must be honest I didn’t find this interesting because a) the unit wasn’t opened b) when unboxing databits was waving everything around so you couldn’t focus on it and the camera was too close so things disappeared off the edge of the screen c) what was going on with the floppy. It’s clearly too big and wouldn’t fit.

I think you were supposed to remove the plastic from the disc, also it seems the liquid has leaked out of the pad itself. And the discoloration you saw on the device is actually mold...
Nope, he did it the way it was suppose to be done. It went in just like a record. The discoloration was because it was so old...LOL

Ho wow, Febreeze did somthing simmilar with their scentstories disc. The device looked like a top loader cd player.

Are you supposed to take that extra layer of plastic off the disc?
Does the thing "play" a small spot of the disc in a spiral or does it just heat the whole thing? I doube it does the former, they just wanted the disc shape gimmick.
In the 80s, discs were the future. CDs, disk drives, the Kodak disc...
Yeah, I don't think it's supposed to be smoking lol Also, Since you cut the sides off of the floppy, You should have tried taking the disk out of the jacket and putting it into the player that way!

umm was that plastic suposed to be on the "disk" the actuial one not the floppy disk.
i think you might of just ben burning the plastic..
i know the modern ones have like lesctions in windows that it moves over the heater and theres no plastic outer housing.
The plastic is part of the disk! It makes it look like a record! Smoke is actually part of the process.

That white, powdery discoloration can be removed using a heat gun. I know it sounds wild, but it works -- you have to have the heat just right and move at a nice steady pace across the surface and the whiteness will just vanish. It happens to older car panels and that's how detailers restore them.

My grandmother had one. they were horrendous. I don't remember it smoking, though.

I remember seeing one of these on a goodwill auction site once and thinking "what on earth?!"
It's been resealed. I have a shrinkwrap machine and that was poorly done.
Ooh an aroma device from before the boom of the essential oils scam. Fascinating.
And it worked with what is essentially a consumable thing with presumably an expiry date (the sample disc)!

He never ceases to completely miss the salient point(s). Nobody was wondering if it can read floppy discs. I mean… was that supposed to be a comedy bit? Why not see if a vinyl record will play in it? Be sure to slice off the sides so it will fit. 🤦♂️ Instead of amusing yourself, try enlightening your audience instead: i.e. How do these discs contain an “aroma”? How does the unit “play” them? Why was it setting off a burning smell? Focus man!
