Also, because the wings can rotate, the fighter can rapid fire its laser cannons while the wings spin rapidly, entrapping an enemy fighter in a wall of fire, preventing any kind of maneuver.

The swivel wings that from pictures contain 2 of the three main engines also would drastically increase its maneuvering in space as the swivel and wide engine spread could be used to drastically decrease its turning radius compared to other fighters with more centrally placed main engines.

Then you have a battlecruisers, which, despite their intimidating sosounding name and common usage in sci-fi to refer to something nasty, weren't that nasty. All battlecruiser was was a ship the size of a large cruiser, armed with battleship caliber guns, but cruiser level armor. I originally posted this in response to on another RUclipsr's video but I think I may have made an interesting observation about Moff Gideon and the forces under his command.
It does appear that the Mandalore system falls under Gideon's jurisdiction and the Interceptors and Bombers within the base are intended to police it, the base we see in episode 8 is perhaps the heart of Moff GIdeons imperial remnant. The cramped nature of the installation would also perhaps lend credence to the design of the Outland TIE Fighter as they can be stored away more efficiently. I think that the business involving Grogu was perhaps a task that Gideon was assigned and so he took his Lightcruiser and compliment of Stormtroopers, vehicles and ordinance and established a presence on the old base at Navarro, the light cruiser would explain how such a large amount of Imperial assets arrived on the planet in the first place and being on assignment would explain why Gideon was mobile and not back in something more defendable like a bunker.
The base on Mandalore is perhaps Gideon's real home and where he is at his strongest. I would suspect that perhaps this is where the third generation Dark Troopers came from and that why we don't see any normal Stormtroopers in the base is because the vast majority of them were killed during the multiple skirmishes and subsequent rescue of Grogu. Gideon has lost assets, but he's been saving his most potent forces up until this point but without the Darktroopers or even his personal squad of Death Troopers he still needed to put in requests to the Shadow Council.

If he had his own we would have seen it last season. But as it stands I think it's more realistic he has a lot of star figthers and maybe a couple light cruisers. He requested starfoghter reinforcements so to me that indicates that's all he needs more of. If he needed or felt like he needed anything bigger, he would have asked. But then if he had something bigger why would he ask only for more interceptors and bombers

I think there are more then just a single squadron of Fang Fighters. When they are leaving Navarro, its hard to tell with the planet in the back, but it seems like theres at least 25-30 fang fighters if you look really close. With every 1-2 Gozantis having an escort count of about 4-5 fangs. If this is the case, then that would greatly increase their anti-fighter capabilities. And although its hard to tell, I think there were maybe one anti-fighter gun on the gozanti. Overall for a warband, a mandalorian one at that, they could deal some major damage. I mean 1 Komrk Transport and 5 Fangs were able to destroy an Interdictor despite it having fleet and fighter cover. I think they could take on a single Star Destroy with TIE fighter compliments. They couldnt take on the 7th Fleet by all means, but assuming Gideon doesnt have a ridicules amount of Interceptors and Bombers, they should honestly be fine

Obviously I have Katee Sackhoff on the brain (who doesn't?) but the shot at 6:55 reminds me of how beautifully Battlestar Galactica would show ships in atmosphere. Star Wars has gotten so much better at making planets seem vast and physically present. You don't get a sense of Tatooine, Dagobah, the Forest Moon, or Naboo. The Battle of Coruscant finally makes the planet seem huge and expansive beneath the ships. Scarif finally nailed it with lots of vertiginous downward shots and gleaming atmosphere. I've loved the care they've put into Mandalore even as "just" a cloud shrouded wasteland.

I heard the characters talking about their fleet, looked at it and said "That's not a fleet, that's a Task Unit."
Obviously it's a decent start for small-scale operations, but if this fights off Gideon's forces, it'll really demonstrate how far the Imperial loyalists have fallen. One of the civilian/PDF MC95s from Exegol could probably wipe this group out.

A bit of a tangent, but I just want to talk about one aspect of this show I've really enjoyed, that being the prevalence of on-vehicle camera shots (The 'camera' being mounted on the wing or other part of the ship with some slight shuddering motion effects). I really love these shots as they appear in various parts of Mandalorian and in Rogue One for really tying in the immersion. The moments like with the Gauntlet doing attack runs or Tie Strikers lining up on Blue Leader at Scarif are just so subtly beautiful and I just want to voice my appreciation for these small moments.

From a recent lego set we know that fang fighters will appear in the series and fight against Tie interceptors.
In the Lego set, the pilot for the fang fighter is called the mandalorain fleet commander. We can see this character in charge of the acquitence in the latest episode.
My theory is that in the hangerbays of the arquitence, the mandos have fang fighters, and the Fleet commander will use one to fight the empire in the next episode.

I was waiting for you to do this video. I love the fleet because of its sheer versatility. The refitted Class 546 and Gozanti cruisers coupled with the power, maneuverability, and speed of the Gauntlet and fang fighters. The only thing I think the fleet needs are a few corvettes, like CR-90s and a Raider, since the CR-90 is a modular ship and can be given extra guns or be converted to starfighter carriers, and the Raider because of the level of versatility. All in all, I love the fleet, but it could be better. Hopefully, we see more Mando ships arrive in the season finale.
As for their opponent, I think the Mando fleet is capable of taking down at least 40-50% of Moff Gideon's starfighter fleet, but will suffer at least two Gozantis, four Gauntlets, and seven Fang fighters. The real danger are the Tie Bombers because of the large payloads they carry. A single one I think can do a lot of damage to the Class 546, but if a bomber rams into the Cruiser, then it will be destroyed. But, if there are going to be reinforcements, then the Imperials will suffer major losses.

Just a point of clarification on Arquitens style ships. They have four dual Turbolaser Turrets. Two dorsal and two central. Additionally, our Arquitens here should also have quad laser cannons however they are mounted in the sides and are retractable for atmospheric flight. So who knows if we will actually see them but it is a possibility.

1:59 there were standard TIE fighters in the bay when they took the ship. That was the reason they crash landed in the TIE launch bay to begin with. TIE fighters really don’t follow with Mandalorian battle doctrine (of having top-of-the line, well-balanced fighting equipment) so they may have sold them off, or used them as target practice. In any case standard TIEs (or the new folding-wing variant) that Moff Gideon had on the cruiser before the Mandalorians took the ship, would be no match for TIE Interceptors. But at least could be another ship to put up a fight in a pinch.

I'd imagine it's running a skeleton crew. Probably also the reason they aren't running more cheap commercial fighters, they're a lot shorter on manpower than money. If that's the case, they would struggle in a prolonged fight, damage control would be a real problem.

I think Din's N-1 is in the hangar, not that it's gonna help as hes trapped and who else is gonna fly it. But I get why they have so many Imp ships, empire is mostly gone and their gear is still laying around. Perfect to snatch up. That being said... it's gonna be a rough time, A pure guess here but im betting we are looking at a squad of bombers maybe 2 and at least 2 squads of interceptors. That's not a good force for the Mandos to have to deal with.

I think that the reason that they have so many Gauntlets and Fangs is that those are the ships that survived, and have been with the various members of Axe/Khoska's fleet since before the Night of a Thousand Tears.
Objectively speaking, based on the mechanics of the Fang's wings (rotating around both longitudinal and lateral axes), they should be the single most maneuverable fighter yet seen in all of Star Wars (perhaps all of SciFi).
--Bank/turn left or right? Differential thrust.
--Bank/turn up or down? Rotate around your longitudinal axis, and differential thrust.
--Slide left/right/up/down? Rotate around your lateral axis, and thrust with both wing engines
--Full Stop/Reverse? Rotate both wings 180 and fire thrusters.
--Rotation around normal (up & down) axis? Rotate one wing 180 degrees & fire one or both thrusters (as Bo-Katan did in her gauntlet to eliminate one of the TIEs)
--Rotation around longitudinal axis? Rotate both wings to some degree in opposite directions (one up, one down) along lateral axis and fire thrusters.
--Widen those rolls? Adjust the relative firing of those engines and how heavily you fire the thrusters.
Literally the only axis that they _can't_ maneuver in is rotate around their lateral axis. With sufficient practice, they can out maneuver any ship I've ever seen. Thus, the only way that a Fang should ever be lost to enemy action _should_ be the result of overwhelming incoming fire, or area-effect weapons that inertia prevents them from avoiding.

This fleet is the Night Owl fleet which I see as being more of a militant corps than that of the Death Watch who operated as bounty hunters, so it makes sense their fleet would be more uniform than if say Death Watch had a fleet which would be of a bunch of random snub fighters and gunships.
