    The use of other battery technologies in other markets such solar panels, energy storage will reduce the need for lithium battery

    Technically, energy density is energy per volume. Energy per mass is called specific energy. Unfortunately the common vernacular is that energy density is energy per mass.

    Energy density is important, but so is power density. Imagine 2 buckets: they're exactly the same except one has a bigger spout. Both buckets have the same entry density, but the one is more powerful. The most energy dense battery ever would have limited usefulness if it's only powerful enough to power a wristwatch.

    CATL is going to make a NMC LiFePO4 dual chemistry battery. It will balance the extended lifespan of lfp with the energy density of nmc. Sodium ion batteries will be better for home battery with residential solar systems, or for grid balancing at the power companies.

    Hi ARK Type Peeps; I’m subscribed and never miss your show; a bit off subject but I’m 👀 looking for a good software growth company and watching PANW and could you give your take on this company? Good software is good investment because of margins and little if no issues of labor or image problems which seem to hurt TSLA; would appreciate very much; Thank You.

    Lithium as batteries is the best and most proven at this point, but they also suck big time, in terms of lifespan (degradation) and prone to exploding causing fires.

      LFP batteries aren’t a fire risk and can go 10,000 cycles. Average mileages mean typical EVs only need to recharge weekly, that’s a useful life of nearly 200 years, you’re clueless.

    Tesla is a honestly a joke at FSD compared to Cruise or Waymo. They only upload driver-intervention events, which isn't enough training data compared to Waymo which is recording the entire drive end-to-end with lidar. 'Miles driven' is irrelevant when you are comparing apples and oranges.

      The data collected by Tesla is unknown, but they have over 5 million cars on the roads and Tesla are perfectly capable of deciding which data is most worth uploading. You’re clueless.

    IMHO the biggest downside of sodium based batteries is the economics of recycling them. All of them should be sold with a built in recycling charge.

      @@fredbloggs5902 No need to. There is nothing valuable going into a sodium battery, even lithium based batteries are marginal for recycling. Haters of BEVs say that the batteries will not be recycled, with sodium they will be right unless it is financially viable. The easiest way to do that is charge a small recycling fee up front and give it to the recycling company when they recycle the battery.

      @@gpsfinancial6988 If they’re worth recycling then they will be. For lithium they obviously will be, for sodium it’s less likely. Let the market decide, changing more up front to force recycling is nonsense. You’re clueless.

      @@fredbloggs5902 That is just giving ammunition to the anti BEV crowd who say that the batteries will be dumped. E waste is already a problem - people that would have paid an extra $20 to buy a flat screen TV at purchase are reluctant to pay that same $20 when it dies. $50 battery recycling fee on a $50,000 car is nothing, but will build in a recycling solution.
