Enabled developer mode, Installed MIB2 Toobox patch, Changed USB port and still didn't work, Bought OBDEleven, enabled the FEC/Swap codes - still wouldn't see Apple, worked perfectly with Android. Set USB port to "ipod" and it worked perfectly. Your videos helped every step of the way. Suggestion: link those videos in the description in that order with a "you are here!" beside the one your watching so that people see where they are in the process.

Your usb will work for music too, you have to change in 5F modul, byte 19 to USB_ipod. If its already set to USB_ipod, change it to FULL and it will work.
Great tutorial, i have a mk7 2016 aswell. I want carplay, but i find it ridiculous that I have to pay the dealer €250,- to activate it and then to realise that i have to buy another port.
That's right! 250 for the license, then 25-50 for uploading the license to the car, then another 50 for USB port and wiring, then 25-50 for replacing it.
How can I check if the current USB port supports Apple (iPhone) connection? I have CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink activated, and a working USB port. Android Auto works via USB but for CarPlay iPhones do not get recognised. I was getting the "USB device not supported" error when connecting, then I tried the Byte 19 USB iPod + Adaptation fix - now the error does not appear anymore but the iPhone still doesn't get recognised.

Hi! I have a Passat B8. I would like to replace the usb port to the green one but in the box, not that place where you replaced in the video. That place I have cigar-lighter plug, I only have USB in the box. It was told that I need some special tool to take it out. Do you have any info about it?

I don't really expect much more light performance, just wanted matching color with the current HIDS installed. ¿Did you not experience noticeable glare or wrong dispersion on road signs due to these Bulbs ?
Just replaced mine fog LEDs with different ones. Color is close to HIDs in both old and new ones. Just wanted something with better optics for proper light distribution. I don't use them while driving. Just for the coming/leaving home function.

Hey. I followed your excellent steps to install Toolbox and activate Car Play. My USB port appears to need replacing (USB Device Not Supported error). My vehicle is a transporter van. Which USB module would you advise for this? I did quickly look at the coding for the USB port too, and it is set to USB only, not iPhone. While I understand the port shouldn't be iPhone ready as it is, I thought I would try to change in the OBD-11. It says function not supported? Is this likely to change if the correct USB port is fitted? I don't want to order the USB port to find the OBD-11wont recode? Thanks 🙂
Replying to myself. Realised I needed to change the “service mode” in the app. It was set to diagnostic. Can’t recall which option, but EOL or Programming worked! Still no functional USB, but I’ve now ordered one!

Hi, I have a problem with seat leon III 2016. I have installed updated USB (green one) and chagne configuration with VCDS for USB supporting. Fullink works for android but not for iOS device. Do you have any idea what might be the problem? Is there anything else that needs to be updated.
Enter hidden menu to check if there's a valid license installed for CarPlay. Also check if your phone port is clean and if the lightning cable is not damaged. CarPlay will not work if the cable is low quality as it requires steady connection.

The car has a Garmin navigation unit behind the dash connected to the main display unit, but that just recently packed up. My unit is MIB1.

Hey there. Too litle information. What exactly do you see on the media screen when you got to AppConnect mode? Is it something like "wasiting for device connection"? If not, then you have to activate the FEC for CarPlay.
You can pair an iPhone over bluetooth, but you will not get CarPlay that way. Wireless CarPlay is using WiFi, was not available in this system, but can be accomplished with this device: ruclips.net/video/wzy-lgowVLI/видео.html
I have discover pro unit, android auto works fine with both of the usb plugin. In the media source I see the USB inputs, but when i plugin a pendrive, it always say usb error or something like that. I tried with 16Gb and 64Gb pendrive also, formatted to ntfs, fat32 and exfat also. Neither of them works. What can be the problem? So in short i cannot use pendrive as a media source. Thanks a lot.

I'm not sure about the whole AUX+USB assembly, but I think that the USB port alone should be the same as here (you can remove it from the plastic frame).
Hi I had mib1 in my car and replaced with CP removed mib2. AndroidAuto works fine but I have no AUX function on media, if I change the USB port will this enable the AUX function or do I need coding also?
2013 infotainment unit is too old for Smart Link features. You would have to replace your infotainment unit with newer one (+ remove component protection, license installation, coding, new USB port, possibly also new screen and dashboard trim).

Hi, is it possible to modify/update the USB media port coding with an android phone but then use an iPhone for CarPlay? Apple ode units are way more expensive then android ones!
If the OBD-adapter and software that you wanna use supports codinf for VAG (those are not that cheap as you may think of those, btw) - then yes, you can do that. But basically better to find someone around to activate it for you with proper tool (OBD11, VCDS or similar) and pay small reward for it.
You should but you can also modify existing cable with a knife to fit inside the socket. VAG is using different shapes to prevent cable mixup when there's a lot of connectors in the same spot (for example at the back of the main unit) so if you remove the plastic guiding rail you can use old cable with new USB port.

@@mrfixpl not sure. I don’t think so. It’s the unit with the hand sensor on the bottom with a touch screen. When my iPhone is plugged in the USB port it just see it’s not supported

I just upgraded from Mib1 to Mib2.5 that’s why. I have an usb port that came with Mib1, just like yours. Do you believe the new port will work with Mib2.5 just like with your Mib2? Thanks!!
The USB in media is disabled while carplay is enabled. When usb is connected but Carplay isn't turned on then the usb should be in media. At least that's how it is on 2019 Superb.
I’m having problems still. I have a 2016 Leon and just trying to disconnect the original plug was loads of fiddly fun. Next, the socket my mate bought don’t work.Obviously it’s one of the ‘unreliable’ Chinese jobs at £23. It gives charging but there’s no sign the car can ‘see’ the phone as with the old one - no ‘reading usb device’ message. Thus I tried to check the pins with a meter and it’s not the same as the oem original. There’s even a chance the ground is connected to the data pins. But what do I know? Shelled out for activation and still nothing. My guess is don’t go for a cheap socket 😢

The phone just starts charging and there are no notifications both on the phone and car's screen. I think that it's worth mentioning that I used the same USB cable as before, when it worked. Exactly the same thing is happening to me. The old port has android auto working, after replacing with the new port Carplay is working, but android auto is no longer working. I tried multiple phones and cables, and some combinations work for about 5 sec before disconnecting.Very weird issue. Have you managed to find a solution?

Obecnie mam nowy oryginalny 0,5m kabel od appla i nadal jest problem. Czy wymiana samego modułu usb ma sens? Być może ma jakieś zimne luty i jak go najdzie tak działa. Czy jeśli wyciągnął bym moduł i kupił na jego miejsce taki sam to trzeba coś więcej robić jak np. adaptacja?

I want to use Android Auto in my Skoda Fabia MIB2 (Technisat, SW 0245), and I already installed the Toolbox firmware and SWaP Codes for SmartLink and Android Auto via ObdEleven, and also enabled Google in 5F-Adaptations-Vehicle_configuration. However when connecting my phone I get "MirrorLink is not supported on this device".
Do you have an idea? Do I need to buy this new media USB port?

Mr fix did you change the wiring or did you use previous wire and did aux work?
AUX worked. Used previous wiring but had to modify the connector with a knife to fit into new USB port.

Hi I have a late 2014 Golf Mk 7 - 1.4 TSI and the port in the console is a media in port only, no USB or headphone jack, is it still possible to covert to apple carplay. The car has a Garmin navigation unit behind the dash connected to the main display unit, but that just recently packed up. My unit is MIB1.
MIB1 does not support CarPlay.

Hey there. Too litle information. What exactly do you see on the media screen when you got to AppConnect mode? Is it something like "wasiting for device connection"? If not, then you have to activate the FEC for CarPlay.

You can pair an iPhone over bluetooth, but you will not get CarPlay that way.

I have discover pro unit, android auto works fine with both of the usb plugin. In the media source I see the USB inputs, but when i plugin a pendrive, it always say usb error or something like that. I tried with 16Gb and 64Gb pendrive also, formatted to ntfs, fat32 and exfat also. Neither of them works. What can be the problem? So in short i cannot use pendrive as a media source. Thanks a lot.

MIB1 does not support Android Auto. You need to replace the main unit.

Module 5F, long coding, byte 19, one of the bits is responsible for the USB port, set it to "usb_ipod"

I'm not sure about the whole AUX+USB assembly, but I think that the USB port alone should be the same as here (you can remove it from the plastic frame).

2013 infotainment unit is too old for Smart Link features. You would have to replace your infotainment unit with newer one (+ remove component protection, license installation, coding, new USB port, possibly also new screen and dashboard trim).

Hi, is it possible to modify/update the USB media port coding with an android phone but then use an iPhone for CarPlay? Apple ode units are way more expensive then android ones!
If the OBD-adapter and software that you wanna use supports codinf for VAG (those are not that cheap as you may think of those, btw) - then yes, you can do that. But basically better to find someone around to activate it for you with proper tool (OBD11, VCDS or similar) and pay small reward for it.

You should but you can also modify existing cable with a knife to fit inside the socket. VAG is using different shapes to prevent cable mixup when there's a lot of connectors in the same spot (for example at the back of the main unit) so if you remove the plastic guiding rail you can use old cable with new USB port.

Does your infotainment unit support AppConnect?
@@mrfixpl not sure. I don’t think so. It’s the unit with the hand sensor on the bottom with a touch screen. When my iPhone is plugged in the USB port it just see it’s not supported

The USB in media is disabled while carplay is enabled. When usb is connected but Carplay isn't turned on then the usb should be in media. At least that's how it is on 2019 Superb.

I’m having problems still. I have a 2016 Leon and just trying to disconnect the original plug was loads of fiddly fun. Next, the socket my mate bought don’t work.Obviously it’s one of the ‘unreliable’ Chinese jobs at £23. It gives charging but there’s no sign the car can ‘see’ the phone as with the old one - no ‘reading usb device’ message. Thus I tried to check the pins with a meter and it’s not the same as the oem original. There’s even a chance the ground is connected to the data pins. But what do I know? Shelled out for activation and still nothing. My guess is don’t go for a cheap socket 😢
Hi! Today I replaced my USB port as you did in the video. I've done necessary coding and CarPlay works great, although it doesn't seem to recognize Android phone that worked with previous port. The phone just starts charging and there are no notifications both on the phone and car's screen. I think that it's worth mentioning that I used the same USB cable as before, when it worked. Do you have any ideas what to do?
Exactly the same thing is happening to me. The old port has android auto working, after replacing with the new port Carplay is working, but android auto is no longer working. I tried multiple phones and cables, and some combinations work for about 5 sec before disconnecting.Very weird issue. Have you managed to find a solution?

Obecnie mam nowy oryginalny 0,5m kabel od appla i nadal jest problem. Czy wymiana samego modułu usb ma sens? Być może ma jakieś zimne luty i jak go najdzie tak działa. Czy jeśli wyciągnął bym moduł i kupił na jego miejsce taki sam to trzeba coś więcej robić jak np. adaptacja?
Dmuchnij sprężonym powietrzem w gniazdo USB w aucie. I sprawdź czy kabelek tam sztywno siedzi.
