I have been watching you tackle the clutter from the very beginning and am constantly amazed at your resilience and fortitude as you take it step by step on your journey. I have cheered you on through the highs and lows and wanted to thank you again for your transparency and willingness to divulge all in hopes of not only helping yourself and your family, but all those who tune into your channel. You are truly magnificent!
I decluttered today after a full year last year like you doing the whole house it was so hard work today I go through my house now and again and I had one black bag full so that’s great I could not go back for nothing I love a half an hour tidy up and it’s clean it is hard saying no to anyone who gives you things but I enjoy saying better give it to someone that will love it and give it a good home I have enough thankyou even my kids are Minimal now in their homes and there loving it xx so pleased your happy after your journey xx
As a professional organizer, everyday I see women who are drowning in mountains and mountains of clutter because they have spent and spent and spent whether they had the money or not., Trying to fill a void in their life. That was the only way they knew how to do it. Some people get addicted to alcohol, drugs, food, and others get addicted to spending and shopping. I’ve worked with millionaires who could buy anything they wanted (and did) and I’ve worked with people who had hundreds of thousands of dollars of credit card debt and rooms full of racks of clothing that they never could wear because they were trying to fill the hole in their heart with stuff. I tell my clients, it’s not about the stuff. Its not never about the stuff. It’s about what is going on in your head and your heart that you’re trying to fill, whether it’s depression, a loss, loneliness etc. And for you to make this one 180 change, on your own, is absolutely freaking amazing! The self awareness, research and analysis you have done is remarkable! Because from where I stand, in my profession, it rarely happens even with professional counseling and an organizer to help.
I believe this whole stay at home thing has many hidden blessings, I pray it helps some of the older folks I always saw spending hundreds of dollars gambling in the bar, the fancy nails some of my low income clients thought was vital, the over spending on junk food , the boredom that we handled by jumping in our cars and wasted gas and money. Hopefully more people have learned how to cook and be content at home or just going for a walk. I have a sneaking suspicion we will see a baby boom, and fear there will be more depression, domestic violence and divorce. In the end God wins. Bless you and your family
Minimalism truly is a journey: Some years ago I Konmari'd, last year I also Minimal Mom'd and now I additionally 'Ask why'. (And after three weeks lockdown in the UK, I have a spare room full of quarantined declutter waiting to vacate the premises, which didn't make the cut on previous passes!). Thanks Erica. Stay safe and well. 😀
I watch many decluttering and minimal channels and you are one of my favorites! You are real, refreshing and you have a family. It is very different living alone vs having a family. We are a family of 6 and decluttering is very different with a household.... thank you. So glad I found you!
Hello New Friend 🧡! I fell into your channel yesterday and so thrilled to find you! I watch Josh and Dawn the Min Mom, so I’m sure that’s how you popped up! We are in the beginning decluttering stage and have an IMMENSE Amount of 💩 to rid ourselves of. Certainly does take time. We somehow lost this house over the past 10 years. I’m now nearly 61, but when newly married we were TOTALLY CLUTTER FREE! Nothing on counters, everything had a place etc, etc. I honestly still can’t believe things have now come to this! I have chronic medical issues and have little energy and chronic pain, but I keep trying. It’s nice to spend time with someone who isn’t quite all the way where they want to be yet. This truly gives me hope and I thank you for that! Take care! Stay Safe Inside, Friends!
Hello Erica, I remember when you first started I wished I was there to help you and now look how far you’ve gotten. You need to know that you are an inspiration to all of us not only people who need to declutter. We all have something that needs a lil or a lot of tweaking and your journey is proof that it can be done. Thank you for being so brave by putting yourself out there, exposing yourself in such a very personal way. God bless you honey ❤️🙏🏼💐👵🏼. Diana Romero
You could put date night ideas on post its and put them in the jar or write down memories and keep them in the pottery and go through them on your anniversary
Hi From the Uk. Love your channel Erica. You are so honest and I love that. Keep on making your vlogs, you are brightening up a really sad time for us all.your hair and make up look great😀
Erica, I love your videos. Of all of the Minimalist and Minimalish video channels I have seen, you are my favorite. I love your analysis and your process in this task. You really make it easier and are so encouraging in continuing with my Minimalist journey. I think you should have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Come on Facebook, wake up, get with it!
Thank you! I have found your videos to be very helpful. I think that many of us struggle with saying no. COVID19 has temporarily solved this for me. I think when it's over, I will be saying no more often to preserve my own time and sanity.
Erica!! I hope you see this. I took a boundaries class years ago and it was life changing. Now a good friend of mine and I teach the same boundaries class in Dallas, Texas. What I want to tell you is "THANK YOU FOR TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF" This is such a powerful phrase that can tell you and others that it is OK to say NO. I tell this to alot of people when they make a decision to say no. You will feel the effects and even a smile when you say "THANK YOU FOR TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF" Erica.....Bravo!
I need to start decluttering, I too would like to become a minimalist. You have helped me to see it can be done. Thank you for always keeping it real. Well done on how far you've come. X
It’s been so heartwarming watching your journey. I think it’s because it’s about love....Love for your husband, love for your children, love for your pet, your country, and most of all the love for yourself, all reflecting amongst each other. I hope that makes sense.
No. Is my favorite word. As I say to my husband. I saw my mom get burnt out because she didn’t say no and I don’t want to repeat that in my little family. Good for you for prioritizing and following through on it.
I found your channel not quite when you started your journey, but pretty close. I have loved watching your transformation. You look and act so happy now. I wish I had cataloged my journey with minimalism as well!
You are as transformed as your house. You don't seem to be the same person that started this journey, a transformed you. : ) Thank you for the YES and NO. Don't feel bad that it took u 43 years. You have to be ready and some people never are. You are amazing. Thank you for being YOU.
I have enjoyed watching you so much. You show people it can be done. My friends are spenders and it makes me crazy I wish I had people in my life that enjoyed just life instead of shopping. I’ve always been a minimalist and I go through my house twice a year and get rid of things. I feel there is always something to let go of. The older I get the less I need.
You inspire me! I am in the middle of my journey to minimalish . I relate to nearly everything you have gone through... the multiple duplicates, homeschool hoarder, guilt over wasting hubby’s hard earned money on stuff I never have nor will ever use. I have been using this season of isolation to dive in and make significant progress... in between homeschool and outside wanderings. Thankyou for sharing your heart.
Erica Lucas! Imagine if you hadn't extremely decluttered your house and you were sheltering in place with all your stuff of 6 months ago! How did you get it done so fast? Especially with little kids. How was your mindset so that you didn't stop and stagnate? You just kept going through all the overwhelm and did not get tired? ??? And now you are so gorgeous and juicy looking. Your last 10 seconds of the video are overflowing with goodness and juicy joy!!!
I think with this self isolation thing, I have also realized I need to say “No”. Our family was so busy. People are going to be so disappointed in me when this is over.
I found your channel last week and am on this journey with you. While I was at home with my family during quarantine I began looking around my house and couldn’t find peace. I began cleaning and decluttering my house and painting my house. I discovered that shopping apparently gave me peace so I did it. I didn’t even know that about myself because wit isn’t my love language but I think it was because my house was to full and I needed to avoid the clutter and stress of it. Thanks to you and others I feel like I’m not alone and boy my house is beginning to give me peace. I thank you for being so real!
Erica Lucas You are welcome! I just love seeing people make their lives better and when it’s a shared passion and lifestyle like minimalism all the better!❤️
Thank you, Erica! This was inspiring und honest! I am so overwelmed with all the things in our house, but you gave me inspiration to start with myself in this video. It is not just the clutter outside but inside my head! Best wishes from Germany with a big, digital hug
Erica Lucas hurray!!!! I can’t wait! I’m so excited to hear his opinions and his point of view on the minimalist journey. I’m sure the two of you are adorable
So, so good! I'm on a minimal-ish/ist journey, and I appreciate your experience and encouragement! Major hallway/office declutter/clean/organization today! Onward, with a life that matters. We are all making some kind of impact on this world. Peace.
Here I am at 43....starting over, so to speak. Starting to save and not spend, starting to declutter, and starting to feel amazing! Thanks for all these tips. New subscriber here!!
Dear Erica, My coffee mug just got empty- again. Ah. Nobody in the world will appreciate a full fresh cup like you and me I believe. The kids are finally asleep and I have tons of work to catch up on, but I saw your new video and things got better. I love what you are doing. So real, and therefore fresh here on youtube. I find myself in your videos almost every time. Looking forward to the homeschooling tips video you mentioned. Take care...
Erica, you are an empowering person. I admire your determination. This video, like your many videos on decluterring is amazingly deep in meaning. It’s great that you did it at 43. I’m 50 and I am learning from you. I had a big loss in my life and that is making me stop and reflect on what is important and what is not. You give me hope that there is a way after grieving. Through grieving. Keep up the personal growing and keep your inspiration pouring onto us. Well done!
Thank you!! I just found you today on a collaboration video with Dawn (Minimal Mom). You got me to start decluttering for 2 hrs. after work. Seeing a clip of you with lots of items spread out on the floor jump started me!! Been overwhelmed & quite depressed after losing my best friend recently & purging my late husband's belongings. It just lit a fire under me! I didn't feel sad. I thought If Erica a busy wife & mother can do this she's showing me that I absolutely can do this too. Thank you so much for the inspiration to start my my final decluttering attempt. All other methods have not worked for me. I began trying 2 yrs. ago & no real results. Just feeling bad & like a failure since I couldn't get it all done by myself in less than 6 weeks!! (A coach I used by phone told me It shouldn't take me 1 month to clear out a 1 bedroom even though I was working 6 days a week. I was told I was just being lazy & making excuses. & Yes I had to pay for this!! Thank you for me showing that with your help I can now succeed. You've given me hope. Can't wait to watch more of your videos. Bless you & your family.❤
I am so sorry for both of your losses. What pain you have in your heart right now. I’m glad you found motivation! It finds you at the right time when you are ready for it, and your timeline is YOUR timeline. Forget that coach. It takes as long as it takes to declutter, grieve, and pick up some of the fallen pieces. You got this Pam!!
@@EricaLucasLoves Thank you. That previous "Declutter Coach" & self described "Expert" was a man & he made me feel like a big loser & failure. I feel so blessed to have found you. Thank you for replying to me & being kind & for not comparing me to other people (who decluttered entire houses in 6 weeks)the way he did. You're right I will go at my own pace. It's not a race but an intentional decluttering journey. Thank you for acknowledging my grieving process for both of my losses. I sadly don't have any children & I'm an only child & my parents have both passed away. It has been difficult not having anyone to help me declutter but I truly felt inspired watching 3 of your videos tonight. Take care & I will continue to watch. Thank you for your help. You are amazing.
Those before and afters!! Would love a video reacting to your first video right after you got back from that vacation and did a house walk through. You've made incredible progress! :)
Hi Erica, just to say hi from UK. I really enjoy your videos. You're very brave to be so open about your struggles! You have inspired me to begin mine..!
Thank you for this videos , I’m 36 years old and I’m always beating myself up about not learning how to save earlier in my life . Thanks for sharing your experience is comforting to hear is ok to forgive ourselves and move on thanks
I love your videos. I also a loving the extra family time. Working from home was never something I would choose, but under the circumstances, I appreciate that my employer is putting people first.
We're sort of similar in situation esp.with our husbands. My hubby is also very understanding and is truly a blessing to me. I also love spending "alone" time in a coffee shop. I'm an introvert, btw. I appreciate the quietness of a coffee shop during non-rush hours.. I am starting my minimalist journey and I am learning a lot from you. Thanks Erica! Stay safe and healthy, you and your family! ❤️
I wish I also had your patience in homeschooling your kids. Mine are not homeschooled but sometimes my patience is tested when we review for their major exams. I have 2 kids ( 11 and 7 yrs old), btw ❤️
I am so very happy for you. We can see how you have embraced minimalism and all the positivity that it has brought you and your family. There is something very powerful about controlling your spending and being able to save........Knowing that you will be able to save for your retirement, for your childrens’ education, vacations and just experiences together as a family. My husband and I have never been big spenders and have always been good with money and it has proven to be so worth it now as we are getting closer to retirement. Now we are able to enjoy vacations and the knowledge that we will be ok in our old age.😊❤️🙏 Now all I have to do is get my hubby and son on board with minimalism.🤔
The spending habit is something so many people struggle with. They see a coupon and think: i have to get that deal! when in reality it is a product they maybe don't need. Instead of looking what things they need and then looking for a deal.
A bit late in watching this one....but wanted to thank you for helping me get through my declutter. My kids are grown...I didn't think I would have that much trouble going through things....HA! What a surprise I had. Watching you prepared me for the emotional fatigue from the whole process, which surprised me. Your videos also sort of gave me permission to just sit with things for a few days when needed to process through things and then get back at it. The interesting thing is that I have since been back over some of the same areas and actually decluttered additional things. This time it feels more freeing, and so far on the second round I haven't had the emotional reactions I had initially. Keep up the good work!!! I am sure you are helping a lot of people.
Would love to see another declutter. Your energy is amazing in those videos. You start off unsure, repeat your rules and the bang you are off. That is cool to see.
It is very hard not to spend money these days when all the companies want you to do it non stop. They put a lot of effort and money in creating a belief that owning stuff will make us happier. And it is so untrue. What is more, we are also destroying our planet in order to have that stuff that does nothing good for us... Consumerism is one of biggest mistakes of humanity. :( Sorry for mistakes english is not my first language. Thank You for showing us your journey
It doesn't matter your age when you decide to make a change. Sometimes you need that last straw that breaks the camels back to wake up and make a change.
Just before the pandemic hit I was looking for ways to gain control and move forward. I’d wake up with the kids and they were go go go and I always felt on the back foot. I wanted to have a clean house to come home to if we went out. But I was exhausted trying to placate them and clean and we wouldn’t make it out unless we had somewhere specific to be. I sat down and had a think what was most important to me for myself and my children. Connection, movement, nature, rest. Is what came to mind. What do I need to do today to facilitate this today and tomorrow? So now I say yes to getting out the door and stacking these together- we get movement and connection by getting out into nature. We rest when we get home and the kids Mum cups are full for a bit so I can then get the house together. Changing that around and saying what do I want to say yes to has been a game changer. We are still able to leave the house and exercise locally so having this routine has saved my sanity. Love, love, love your insights ❤️❤️❤️
Bravo, Erica! You have transformed your home, your life, and yourself. I greatly appreciate your candor and your sharing. Wishing you a joyous path as it continues to unfold. With love and gratitude in Paris. xx
Saying no enables you to say yes to the important things! Exactly!! I also learned to say no. And then the Lord brought us a situation that we were able to say yes to, I could have never said yes, if I hadn’t learned to say no first.
Erica, I love how real you are...I also love #3 on your list. I can relate, as I am learning how to prioritize myself now, at 44 years old. You’re doing great! 😁🤗💕
Hi Erica. I have watched you over these past 6 months and totally enjoyed your journey and your chats keep up the great work and keep smiling thanks for making my day
Happy Easter Erica! Normally we would be celebrating with family and during the afternoon we would all be lounging around on our phones while half the family napped, and usually shopping while on our phones. This year my weekend is different for better or worse. So far I've taken 110 items out of my master closet (and I'm just getting started... HOW DID I GET SO MUCH STUFF??!!), 3 bags of shoes, 1 bag of winter gear, 1 queen comforter set and a box of games. Fingers crossed I can double that this afternoon!!! Hope you and your family has a blessed weekend!
I started my journey to minimalism about the same time you started. I felt I had no control of my life. After I got married, we moved 4 times (one of those from Puerto Rico to Indiana and back) I had to ship 11 boxes of stuff that i though i needed. When I bought my house I had 11 boxes plus whatever I had at my moms house and my husband had only 1 box. Those boxes spent 1 year packed... thats when I knew that I didnt need those things. I bought so many things that i "needed" on my first pregnancy and 6 years later i decided to donate everything . I kept only a small box of sentimental and toys that my kid still uses. I feel so happy now that I decluttered all my house and the amount of things that I donatet could fill an entire home. It was ridiculous!. I had enjoyed this journey with you and celebrated your victories and mine. Taking small steps I finally can say that I am at peace with what I have and can enjoy my family. There is more space for growth and learning, but the sentiment of being free of those hoarder and compulsive thoughts is amazing! Thanks for inspiring us with every video and encourage us to take control of our lives. Many blessings for you and your family.
Another great vlog hun. I remember when I first started to watch your channel. I thought then and still do today that you are an amazing lady. We have watched all the ups and downs that you and your family have faced and you have really inspired me to get my home and finances decluttered and organized. I cant Thank you enough. Stay safe and sending love from England. Xxx
@@EricaLucasLoves we sure are and Thank you... it is very strange times at the moment but hopefully it will end soon and we can get back to our 'normal'. To be honest I have M/E or CFS so when I'm in a bad relapse i have to self isolate in a way as I'm unable to do most things. I haven't had a bad relapse for a while so wanting to start to declutter as all i seem to do is clean/ put away. I am totally amazed by how far you have come. Well done and stay safe. Erica Lucas hurray!!!! I can’t wait! I’m so excited to hear his opinions and his point of view on the minimalist journey. I’m sure the two of you are adorable
Erica you are inspirational. God grew your channel because it is truly helping people reevaluate themselves.
Well done!
Congratulations Erica. Watching your channel provided me lessons in personal growth and sharing. Perseverance is worth the effort.
Pam Howe know that I will keep thinking of you. Send me an email if you’d like to stay in touch and send me pics. We can do it together!
Those before and afters!! Would love a video reacting to your first video right after you got back from that vacation and did a house walk through. You've made incredible progress! :)
The power of the no....in this time it's forced on us...I love it too....
Hi Erica, just to say hi from UK. I really enjoy your videos. You're very brave to be so open about your struggles! You have inspired me to begin mine..!
It is very apparent that you and your children are doing much better. The decluttering helped. Great job.
Omg we’ve been married 9 years too!! 😲 congratulations! I love your videos. You must write a book!
You are so brave to show your journey! I loved your authenticity from the start. I’m sure you helped so many people
Thank you for this videos , I’m 36 years old and I’m always beating myself up about not learning how to save earlier in my life . Thanks for sharing your experience is comforting to hear is ok to forgive ourselves and move on thanks
I love your videos. I also a loving the extra family time.
Working from home was never something I would choose, but under the circumstances, I appreciate that my employer is putting people first.
Intentional; the power of yes! reminds me of a book I read called The Best Yes that impacted my life. Loving your journey and mine towards minimalism
Good for you! Well done!
Minimalish Mich sounds like we have much in common!!
I wish I also had your patience in homeschooling your kids. Mine are not homeschooled but sometimes my patience is tested when we review for their major exams. I have 2 kids ( 11 and 7 yrs old), btw ❤️
I love your channel! It’s always so inspiring to see how your life is changing, and I love seeing the decluttering videos too! ❤️❤️
Excellent video Erica!
I love the change you mentioned with finances! That’s HUGE!
“Space for Grace”... yes!!! That’s really beautiful!
I can not express enough how much i love your videos! I love your energy and personality 😍
Daniella Nare love back!
Its insane how much you achieve and how much you learn in 6 month. Be proud, very proud! Kisses from Lisbon, Portugal. Be safe 😘
Sandra Ribeiro be safe!
The spending habit is something so many people struggle with. They see a coupon and think: i have to get that deal! when in reality it is a product they maybe don't need. Instead of looking what things they need and then looking for a deal.
Well done Erica, you look younger and happier, I am sure your husband is very proud of you.
Thank you for letting us into your home and the challenges that you face. Continue to keep it real and sincere. 😊
Your husband sounds amazing for you!! I'm so happy he is your rock
My sister moved recently and did a huge declutter. She put donate items on the curb a few items at a time and got rid of many larger items.
Would love to see another declutter. Your energy is amazing in those videos. You start off unsure, repeat your rules and the bang you are off. That is cool to see.
Jade McArthur I am avoiding the crawl space. 😂😂😂. I am going to do jewelry next but that’s sentimental and will be new for me!!
Watching you transform your home and your life is so inspiring! 💕
Hi from Brazil! Love your videos and it also took me 43 years to make that change. Minimalism is life!
I love your videso, they always motivate me. I will stand up now and work on my space immediately. Thank you!
Your English is excellent! No need to apologize. And your message is so true! Thank you
@@wewemcrhyne Thank you too :)
You're really brave and I'm really proud of you!
It doesn't matter your age when you decide to make a change. Sometimes you need that last straw that breaks the camels back to wake up and make a change.
poodlegirl55 thanks G!
I think you are doing a fantastic job. Keep safe.❤
Awh!!! I’m 43 as well and I started my minimalist journey in January this year 🥰 it is changing my brain and my home too!!!
We are on the same path at the same age!!! Hugs!!!
My goodness your hair!❤️
Possibly your best video yet! Thank you!
Anne Peters thank you Anne! Stay safe.
I’ve too been enjoying “safe at home” time. Living more simply, I hope this time stays with me. Simple = peace ❤️❤️❤️ love all your content.
Bravo, Erica! You have transformed your home, your life, and yourself. I greatly appreciate your candor and your sharing. Wishing you a joyous path as it continues to unfold. With love and gratitude in Paris. xx
There is absolutely nothing in this world like a beautiful marriage!
Encouraging Motivating Wise Living truth!
Saying no enables you to say yes to the important things! Exactly!! I also learned to say no. And then the Lord brought us a situation that we were able to say yes to, I could have never said yes, if I hadn’t learned to say no first.
Christina Huffman so true! I did have to learn to say no before I felt empowered to say yes.
I enjoy each and every one of your videos. And your hair looks just Amazing!
"minimalish". I love it!
Xxx
Janet Eastwood hi Janet!!! Are you staying safe in England?? Thinking of you.
Sending my love to you all .xxx
Loved this! I love the idea of the “power of yes”! 💗
I’m totally a minimalish trying so hard to shift to minimalist!!
Watching your transformation has been amazing!
You're doing great! Have a very happy Easter. 🙂
Your hair is gorgeous 😍😍
So true . Beautifully said . You are wonderful . Greetings from Ireland .
