Damn man!! That is my favorite sled ever made. Been looking for one for years. Had the 04 Pro XR 440 and loved it, but the 800 power and color scheme is amazing. Still want one
the next time I'm there I'll snap a pic of the one with zero miles in his office. he also has a brand 05 Iqr in his hallway ,...need to get some pics as these sleds are legends.
I never had a long track sled. But there’s nothing like trail ridin a 121”. I’ve driven a few long track. Even in deep powder it wasn’t a must have for me.
an old Friend of mine in Michigan has 2 of them one with a 1200 watercraft triple/triple....the other is still brand new in his office...I bought the radius rods off of it for my pro-x as I needed them at the moment and he ordered another set for it to replace them since it wasn't going anywhere ...
Dustin Martin I’m guessing your new to this channel? And apparently I have to explain this over and over. These sleds do NOT perform well in deep snow. Simple fact. These are setup for snoX, simply stretching it to a 151 will not make it perform well. Secondly, why would I want a long track proxr? Third off, I explained what I wanted this sled for in the video, it would do terrible at those things with a 151”. Lastly, it’s my sled so I’ll what what ever I want, I like these being setup as they were intended from the factory!
Hey AKproXR man that was a nice sled ,,the body style reminds me of my 2003 polaris RMK 800 with a 156 inch track this is my first year on snowmachines ,,usually ride motorcycles but had to find something to ride in the winter prior to that I think I had stage 7 cabin fever ( that's where you paint the snow with plants to make it look like summer) LOL awesome ride ,,you were ripping,,,LIKED ( thumbs up )
Yes they were. Still have the sled but i havent touched it since i bought my Assault, which also has blown up lol, waiting to find a good donor 600 sled from that era to return it to glory. Cool video, keep us posted on the build.
wow what a awsome video such a beautiful sled and yes very rare i hate to reck such a nice sled like that and she sounds nice as well thumbs up and shared
Watches this and immediately types in 04 pro xr low and behold there’s one 3 hours away from me! 121 Track pretty much stock with some maintenance work done and Walker Evans front shocks. Asking 4gs Canadian...should I??? Been thinking of buying a 13+ pro that needs a top end but I mean I’m thinking this would probably be a better option? Please steer me in the right direction!
i bought one brand new it was a bit of a turd from the factory for an 800. so i sold it and bought a 2004 PRO-XR 440 sno cross chassis with a 136" kit. and put a built and piped 600 in. that thing was a trail monster best sled i have ever owned.
Very cool sled I remember seeing one brand new at the dealer in Anch. Two of my riding buddies here in Fbks had '03's (if I remember right) built by Pro 5 out of Minnesota. They basically built this same sled using 440 XR chassis with 800, cool sleds and very well converted. I think both ended up going to villages to die. lol.
Kat oom I’m starting to think my old proxr went to the village to die. I figure after a few years looking for it and even posting a reward to find it, and it still doesn’t show up.... must be gone.
-AKHunter574- the hunt for my original xr form back in the old days always continues. In my search, Iv found three of these here in AK. This one was the cleanest Iv found so far in the state so I snagged it up.
Except I rebeuilt the motor and stuff and I tested it on a runner I cutimized the motorr to a 850 and it's fun as hell especially with the air shocks on it for the powder
97 XC 600 triple with 9k miles runs great still! After sitting in a field for 10 years and then I bought it for $200 and got it running again in a week. Still rocks super reliable XLT with the 4th oil line.
Mike Skidmore Why would I want something I’m not going to use? The left handed throttle was a “trend” back in the mid 2000’s. Have you ever noticed how you never see them on sleds now days? Yeah, it’s pretty much pointless.
AKproXR it’s for side hilling a very handy upgrade on any back country machine and you’ve got s good one built there I think you’d ruin the sled by reversing all the mods
jackson Welch it’s a useless gimick, yes I know exactly what they were marketed for. The sled was ruined the second someone long tracked it. As Iv explained already, the prox chassis is a JOKE for back country riding. It’s absolutely garbage when long tracked. Ride like shit, doesn’t go well in deep snow, to wide for an older platform to hold a line. But by all means, if you want a terrible ride that is a trench monster the second you hit fluff go buy a long tracked prox. There damn near as bad as a long tracked iqr, and yes Iv had both in the past. I’m bringing the sled back to WHAT IT WAS DESIGNED FOR so it will be enjoyable, and quite frankly much more valuable. I couldn’t possibly imagine why I would want another long track sled, especially one that wouldn’t perform when I already have other rmk’s and assaults, or are you new to the channel?
I remember seeing this on CL a couple years ago, it was a short track 800 that was blown up and it got switch to a 700 motor. Then saw it again with a long track with a rebuilt 800 lol. That's the last time I saw it.
Daniel Katairoak that short track 700 swapped proxr was my old sled. It broke the crank in half right at 1100 miles, I swapped a good ol’ reliable 700 ves in it, put 40~ miles on it then sold it.
Unfortunately this isn’t the same sled as my old one, different vin (187 vs 181) and my old 700 swapped proxr had new style clickers on it, this sled has the originals
Daniel Katairoak for sure! I actually posted a reward to anyone that could track down the current owner of my old proxr, as Iv been on the hunt for it for a few years now and want that exact sled back. Iv come across 3 of these in Alaska this year, one is actually about 3 minutes from my house and have made friends with the owner lol. The other is down on the peninsula. My old one still has yet to turn up though. Found this one up in talkeetna, the guy wasn’t selling it but I it was clean enough I had to have it, so we struck a deal and I drove up and bought it haha.
That's awesome! Lol I'm sure it will show up forsale again one day! Hope it doesn't end up like my old sno pro 500! Lol i was the original owner then sold it, I was told it was sold for the 12th time last winter 😂. 3 different motors and possibly 9000miles on it lol, now i see it with another sno pro exactly like it.
That sleds awsome! you wouldn't happen to habe any set up information on the CPI pipes would you? I purchased a set used thinking I could find information and I wasn't able to so I used a random set up guide for them with no luck any help is appreciated thanks
AKproXR I really appreciate the info. I was definitely under on the revs then I suppose like anything else If a person screws with it enough it will either go or scatter. ... and thanks again
You can ride those Polaris Edge sleds all day long in comfort. Ski-doo REV, not so much. My brother had to buy all new gear and extra clothing due to how cold it is riding his Ski-doo. Ski-doo is for the fan boys, Polaris is made to ride all day 300+ miles no matter what the temperature.
No freakin way. 3 words. Isoflex crank bearings. Who designs a motor to have crank split for normal maintence.. Liberty edges may not be rider forward, but are some of the most reliable all around sleds.
Pro x2/xr were as close to rider forward as any trailing arm sled ever got. Very comfortable to stand and kill the bumps or sit back and cruise groomed trail. In my opinion just as capable as a rev and far more reliable. I have owned both. Also these are not edge chassis, pro x was shorter and suspension geometry a bit different.
Thing is sweet I’m getting a fairly rare sled myself the 97 xc 700 with the purple head on is did very little research but I guess that’s the first year 700 motor made for them or something like that not sure don’t quote me on it
Branden Paul 97’ purple head is the first year for the 700 twin. The 1997 xc 700 is next on my list of sleds to buy. I can’t find one in Alaska, so I’ve resorted to searching down in the states for a clean 97’ to buy and have shipped up.
Brendan Schmidt there’s no telling when it was rebuilt, it’s easy to see it has been though. And not really hard to believe. my 100% bone stock proxr 800 back in the day blew up with 1100 miles on it...
heard of alot of them 800 libs blowing up. guy i work with just blew his up, had the big boy bearing kit on it too. damn tho, that would make me switch brands
Brendan Schmidt nah, I’ll never switch brands. This one will be fine for what I want it for, sense I’ll only ride it a few times a year to keep the miles low. Short track it, get the jetting how I want and clutch it and call it good. Garage/show queen with some radar runs etc. throw in there
Do all the newer sleds have that God awful clutch ? Noise under decereration..? Newest sled I've been on was a 99 Yamaha 600 something. Dealer demo. Jealous of the snow. Stay safe
m turley I have a set of factory proxr skis that will be going on it. I want this sled to look factory fresh. I was to bitch slap who ever changes how these orange xr’s look, and honestly aftermarket parts ruin the value to orange xr collectors like myself.
AKproXR I put curves on everything.. I buy new every year and the stock skis are the first to go.. Junk imo.. I got a 18 gade xrs 850 right now and the skis that vxx ame on that are flat out dangerous.. They don't turn
m turley haha yeah gotcha. I’m a c&a guy, I run them in everything if you hadn’t noticed by my other videos. This sled however I really want to look as close to factory as possible.
@@AKproXR ok I see, yea I liked the black ones and I've only seen one orange one and thought damm that thing looks sick and different in a cool way from traditional polaris colors. I liked how it looked edge but the windshield connection with body had a profile of its own
Update, low and behold there is one here way up high arctic canada small community of 2300 people. I look at it everytime I pass by it. 😍. I have a gen 2 rmk 600 big block, any budget ideas to improve low end throttle response?
They had those in 04 and 05 I've had one before but they grenade so easy it wasn't worth keeping, and wheelies?? Why would you want to? Wheelies are slow you just need the skis off the ground 3in if you want to go fast
Plz do not make it short track one it will look sooooo ugly as short track. And it 100% does fine. You have much more snow where u live then I do my friend had a 163 and it is perfect
Back in the 70s I had a rupp , a Maint pig !!! I wanted a yamaha so bad I could taste it .. now I just look out the window. To cold ... Is yamaha still making a good sled ??
I have 2 1998 yamaha vmax xtc 700 triples. People dog the triple but I have 12k hard miles on one of them and it just got down to 100 psi accross all 3 cylinders. Almost indestructable motors if you get the red head. Less power than the blue head srx but still damn fast and handle like gokarts! The xtc has more travel but look for those or a 98ish sx 700.
Max Martinson as Iv responded to the other 20 people that have asked. Long track race sleds perform poorly, hurts the value. If you want a long track buy a rmk..
I bought a 440 Polaris pro x 2004 with ah 700 pro x 2003 motor in it and damn it runs well! But i wanna change it to longtrack because i drive so mutch in the backcountry and m well Its easier to drive There here in sweden if u have a longtrack
Rostad they don’t do the best long tracked, but each to their own. IMO I’d just buy a sled designed for the type of riding you do. Iv had a couple long tracked prox’s over the years, and have never been impressed. Edge chassis rmk’s would out perform them in the deep snow.
AKproXR Ok, thanks for the information, im not the best at snowmobiles but i try Haha. But what do u recomend if i want it to be Good in the "deep snow"?
I see what your saying about removing the long track setup for what you want to do with that sled (and she does look like a Beaut'!), but down here in Western PA our snow never really sets up well with any sort of good base; so all any short track sleds over 500cc end up doing is digging down to dirt and rip off lugs/studs. Which leads to everyone around here extending them out to try & combat that. I have both a '01 INDY 700 XC SP and a '01 INDY 500 XC (both non-VES) and the 700 was just a spinning stud spitting mess before I stretched it out to 136 with a Camoplast 2" paddle Challenger. The 500 however does work very well even in our typical soft low snow conditions with a studded 121 finger track.
Love the sled! i have a question about the CPI pipes. i just got an 04 rmk 800 with CPI pipes. was wondering what they're worth. i put stock exhaust on. dont wanna mess with jetting all that much.
Don't get me wrong, that's a bad ass sled. I've got an 03 700 sks 144" cross country with a 2" lug track with all the slp mods done to it also. I'd buy that left hand throttle off you too. The only thing i wish mine had is slp twin pipes instead of a single slp pipe. I also installed a digitron egt gauge with the 4 readouts. Best one they sold back in the day. What does yours typically read at WOT?
Damn man!! That is my favorite sled ever made. Been looking for one for years. Had the 04 Pro XR 440 and loved it, but the 800 power and color scheme is amazing. Still want one
This is the first video I watched from your Channel. I’ve been watching ever sense. Keep up the great videos!

Nice sled. I feel the same way about 2001 thunder cats. That’s my main sled I can’t do without. That and old 90’s indy 650’s.

Yo there was one on Craigslist here in MN aways back...... it was sooo clean didn’t know how rare it was
The original owner is looking for it, he made a post saying he wants it back on Facebook market place

that snow is like concrete rip slides
I had an 03 prox 440 it was fun. Blew up a lot. The guy i bought it from bought one of these 800R’s new in 2004. It was special one for sure.

Brendan Schmidt nah, I’ll never switch brands. This one will be fine for what I want it for, sense I’ll only ride it a few times a year to keep the miles low. Short track it, get the jetting how I want and clutch it and call it good. Garage/show queen with some radar runs etc. throw in there
what is your thoughts on the evolve chassis
My only complaint is the front bumper. When stuff gets rough, the front bumper is so low it gets folded under the sled/ripped off.
I like the side panels there easy to work on
Do all the newer sleds have that God awful clutch ? Noise under decereration..? Newest sled I've been on was a 99 Yamaha 600 something. Dealer demo. Jealous of the snow. Stay safe
That's the brake, track noise your hearing
If u get short tracks and change gear ratio u could prolly wheele but idk any think about snowmobiles tbh
No one has worn Dc’s since the 90’s old fart
It's only rare because it runs!!🤣🤣🤣😂 🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️
I had one 2 back in the day but I had an Aaeen single torquer pipe, Delta 3's, slp air box kit.. Dude out curve xs skis on it.. You'll thank me later
m turley I have a set of factory proxr skis that will be going on it.
Didnt they come in a black/silver version too? Was that also rare
wallace naaz that’s a prox2, not a proxr. Way more x2’s then xr’s were built. But both were 1 year only models.
No prox was sold as a 2005. Period.
@@AKproXR I still have my stock 05 pro X 800 is red I can show you the tunnel, bought it brand new
What is wong with you sort track it and put stock skis???? Wtf and the left throttle that is goos for when your carving.
Uppishkiller Gameing and riding why would I want it long tracked?
Certified ripper
Plz do not make it short track one it will look sooooo ugly as short track. And it 100% does fine. You have much more snow where u live then I do my friend had a 163 and it is perfect
Have I got a good sled up for sale for you buddy down here in fort st John
28 hour drive one way!
Meet you at the boarder
Why you taking the long track off
Max Martinson as Iv responded to the other 20 people that have asked. Long track race sleds perform poorly, hurts the value. If you want a long track buy a rmk..
Oh okay my bad brotha not tryna to get you mad lol
How much for the skis
Whered you get the sweatshirt?
Is this for sale ?
Love the sled! i have a question about the CPI pipes. i just got an 04 rmk 800 with CPI pipes. was wondering what they're worth. i put stock exhaust on. dont wanna mess with jetting all that much.
Very nice man very very nice
Loved the pro xr
It’s a conversation piece. Lol
Nothing rare here. Moving right along🙋♂️
Dirty D under 500 ever built. One year only model. Explain how that is not rare.
@@AKproXR I still thinking how it is rare, Bruh. I see them for sale everyday in sweden and finland.
Dirty D I don’t even recall. I bought a clean 121” proxr and sold this long track a while back.
Dirty D sold it to cheap though. $2K and it sold within the hour. Lol
Rare sled let's take it apart
Neil Lee if it’s not stock, it’s pretty much ruined.
