"Geneva Woman" is what I thought it was called for a long time...🤣. Until I heard it said on the radio. This is a Great song. Perfectly done. Me and my Daughter will give it a go. Cheers for posting this.🎅
Earlier today I was listening to this song and for the first time in 40+ years of hearing it thought it could be “mid-evil woman.” Then I pull up this video and hear this!
This was music from my dads time. He would bust out the ELO records on the weekends sometimes and we would jam out to them in the living room. From the time I could remember as a young child, til about sometime in college, I thought this was a song about a pre-renaissance woman 😐 the lyrics “e-evil woman” still to this day sound like “mediaeval woman” to me even thought I know it’s “evil woman” 🥸
Song was much easier than I'd imagined. Thanks! In the song Incense and Peppermints, for some reason when he sings "Look at yourself", it sounds a lot like he's singing "Look at your son". Strange mixup, but check it out.
BRO! This part of "Band on the Run": "If I ever get out of here Thought of giving it all away To a registered charity All I need is a pint a day If I ever get outta here (If we ever get outta here)" I STILL hear "... for charity, all need is a pint a day..." This would always come on the radio during a particularly long day at work lol
Rofl I love learning from u guys, ty so much for being so informative as well as entertaining, I will, like you said, be unable to unhear medieval women now, but I never had any confusion as the damn song is title Evil Women, I need to get off my ars and check out your site, happy holidays everyone
My dad used to think Jimmy Hendrix's song Purple Haze where he says "excuse me while I kiss the sky" was "excuse me while I kiss this guy" My sister used to think Alanis Morisette's song Ironic where she says "its a death row pardon" was "its a death row Hard On, two minutes two late" Literally makes me crack up when I hear either song.
Nice work sir! I've been playing a lot of songs for years and this is one - it's interesting to see how the version I was playing differs. I used a bass run here most often, although ELO did bounce around instead. I've sometimes thought the extra syllable is "the" as in "the evil woman," but what you sang works out too. When I was a kid might've thought it was "beneath a woman," whatever the hell that means. Anyway you did a fine job here man, nailed it I'd say. : )
"He is a woman" would be a solid hit in today's times. Lol jk. Great song!! Seriously though, as a kid I never knew it was 'Evil Woman'...I actually thought the lyrics were 'She is a woman'...describing a woman he dated who acted more mature and not like a young girl. I was just a kid...it's how I interpreted it... lol 🤷🏽♂️
Dan!!!!!!!! Your the best bro! I love learning from you!! And Elo is one of my favorite bands too. You should check out the album Time by Elo if you haven't already. It's kind of poppy, but that's not a bad thing, I definitely think you guys could do a couple songs from that album.
Sames my whole childhood until i was like 23 and at a part with a piano and someone played ELO and i said fuck yea i love Medival women lmao and everyone got a great kick out of it such a great memory 🤘🖤🤷
hey i needed to stop the lesson and say hahaa rofl medieval women thats funny but i now mite as well take a moment to thank you for putting this up, i learned the piano from alot of ur vids every time i wacth them i think damn it was significantly more difficult to learn how to play an instrument 15 years ago, thx again
PLEASE READ THIS!!!!!🅱️🅱️ PLEASE DO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: Band On The Run-Paul McCartney, Valerie- Amy Winehouse, Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey- Paul McCartney
@@HDpiano As a piano player, I love incorporating that part into the chorus and it's pretty easy to work in and really ties it all together. If you're playing by yourself, there's only so much of the song you can convey so it's important to try to get all the distinguishing parts of the song into the arrangement.
THE evil woman, with "the" pronounced "thee" as it blends in with the e-for-evil. Also pronunciation of "the" as "thee" is quite standard in old english in certain parts of Britain in certain contexts, especially when speaking "proper". or reciting poetry. Why in the world would you hear an M? "Medieval"? Wouldn't the most obvious assumption be "the"? "The evil woman," is perfectly standard english.
YOu thought it was medieval woman. When it first came out around 1975 I thought it said "She is a woman"..lol. We really had no way to find out the lyrics unless you bought the album and hopefully it had them written in it
My parents played this at their wedding, and they also thought it sounded like Medieval Woman. They knew it wasn't, but just thought it was funny. I wasn't alive for their wedding either, this is just second hand knowledge.
Answer to your question about mishearing things that can't be unheard: Blinded By the Light lyric "Little early-birdy gave my anus curly-wurly, and ask me if I needed a ride!" Trust me, I really wish I could unhear this.
In answer to the question, I thought the line in Michael Jackson's _Billie Jean_ always said, "the Chad is not my son", even though it doesn't make much sense really.

Another ELO song, I use to think “turn to stone” was “turtle stomp” because in the song Jeff Lynne says it really fast and concisely
TURTLE STOMP... yes.
Yeah on the song "bathrooms on the right" I used to hear "bad moon on the rise"
hahah, love it
