- PNG Education Minister, Lucas Dekena has announced his plans to reform the low education system in the country.
Amongst the reforms are teachers' renumerations bases on qualifications, not position grades and phase-out of Grades 8 and 10 National Exams.
He said every year more than 120,000 students first get enrolled but only 30,000 students sit for the Grade 12 National Examinations. That means over 90,000 students drop out through the Grades 8 and 10 exams.

Build more ,staff houses, dormitories, laboratory before you roll out your policy. If not, you will be adding more pressure on teachers to take on crowded classes. Start putting up infrastructure before you get rolling out your policy.
Speak and plan ahead. This is not possible to push 120,000 students from Elementary to secondary grade 12..
Many 10-20 years from now you these people will implement it.
Thank you.
