I'm really glad Rhona has decided to be the middle person nicely. She considered Charity's feelings and considered how Charity would feel about the situation. But she also knew Vanessa needed reassurance that Rhona would be there for Johnny if Charity doesn't. Showing she's a good friend in that way (sometimes her friendship goes too far ie the pub issue and not contacting someone) and that she will take over Johnny's care if things come to that. Both Charity and Rhona know Vanessa could pull through it. Also Vanessa knows there's a chance either way but having a plan like that in place if something happened is a good thing.
This is a show but, if this exact situation happened in real life, I would say that Vanessa is not only fighting cancer but she's also fighting a war between rational thinking and the emotions that come with a cancer diagnosis. My dad had cancer and we all knew there was no hope in that fight with pre-existing conditions, etc..He was there in Sept and gone in Dec...Like sooo many others, I know how it is...Vanessa doesn't know what her future is and I think they are having her waver on decisions because there is no uniform way of dealing with it. She is scared. She is scared to have hope, she's scared of losing hope, and she's scared of dying. She's desperately trying to grab onto something she can "control" because she has no control over anything else in this situation. Michelle and the writers researched this and wanted to do right by it so I think that they are being realistic. When the future is uncertain and out of your control, you will grasp any bit of security within your reach...in this case, that means she asked Rhona.
Never thought I would say this but Vanessa is really annoying me at the moment, the way she's treating Charity is awful and I wish Rhona had said no to her about Johnny !!

My heart broke for charity really did vanessa is the only person that she has ever truly loved and now theres the possibility of her losing her she's scared and trying to hold everything to together for the person she adores while she's breaking inside yet the person she adores is hell belt on breaking her poor move v poor move wake up she is your girl she loves you with every breathe she takes yet u are breaking her .the way she looks at her she doesnt need to say anything her eyes say it all your broke u
Michelle getting pregnant is an easy way out for these awful writers. Vanessa will either get better and leave town cuz she wants away from all or they will kill her. I am a masochist for getting into these storylines. ALWAYS painful

I like Vanessa but her behaviour towards Charity has been unfair and Charity has done well up until now to tolerate it. It’s been an awful year for Vanessa no doubt about it but her going through chemo ( not belittling it) does not mean you can get away with being hurtful. Not sure what she expected Charity say! Charity was hardly going to say ‘ yes great idea’ was she. I do think Rhona has been clever by telling Vanessa to speak to Charity first knowing Charity would be hurt and knowing it make Vanessa think twice. I dare say this gets rectified in coming episodes. I do not think they will split over this just because Michelle Hardwick is pregnant as storylines and the scenes were done way before she was pregnant. Just because Michelle Hardwick is pregnant does not mean they split later in the year. They can just write in a break.

Is there a glaringly obvious "Get out of Vanity Free" card coming? I (a lot of us?) have been assuming Vanessa breaks Charity's heart but what if Charity calls it a day?! Is there going to come a point where she has had enough? Not necessarily during Vanessa's treatment (though she could, as usual, be labelled the "bad" girl) but she's being so hurt and humiliated by her. I know Vanessa's ill and lashing out but she's being perfectly OK with the other people she's close to. Rhona, Tracy? Will Charity see that the current situation is helping no-one and think she should step back? If this were to happen before her treatment's over, Vanessa could move in with Rhona so Johny can get used to his potentially "new" family! After treatment,Vanessa leaves because there's nothing to keep her in Emmerdale, leaving the door wide open to return should Michelle be coming back......
I get it she has cancer but really am starting to dislike this storyline. Why pick your best friend over your fiance? Why not make bestie a godmother and fiance the legal guardian.
