This probably won’t be seen by anyone, but I’m going to share a vintage name anyway: Ellis. Ellis is one of my personal favorites for a boy it’s so harmless and pretty!
Ellis & Ennis were on my list for the longest time. The next town over from my great grandparents house was that & the other was a street on the way there so I always connect the two in my mind.
I worked at a daycare and I used to love hearing the names that all the children had. Some of my favorites were Romy, Hudson, Isla, Eliza, Maeve, and, Riley.
1. Hector - Not for me. 2. Percival - I like Perseus better. 3. Edwin - So cute. I love it. 4. Francis - Not for me but it's still cute. 5. Cecil - Not for me. 6. Clive - Not for me. 7. Adrian - It's pretty popular in the US. Not for me. 8. Winston - Oh. I adore this name. I love Winston from Overwatch. So cute.
SO OBSESSED. Percival, Francis and Winston are all names I LOVE. My boyfriend would never go for Percival, but I'm working on the other two! Great list, girl!! Hope you're having the best 2019 so far and I hope Finn gets better soon!
Kate Lately thanks lovely! OMG this list is right up your street; we have to collab again. I might convince Henrik to do a husband hers baby name list 😂😂
SJ Strum YES YES YES! I was just thinking that the other day, I can’t wait to have you help me name my babies someday! I’ve even got my boyfriend making his own list 😂 but a collab soon for sure!
I think Stony could be a really cool nickname for a Winston! Also you should do a usable Harry Potter name list, one of my favourite names is Dora after Nymphadora Tonks, there's some absolute gem names for some of the smaller characters
What name I have fallen in love with recently, and I think it’s perfect for this weeks video, is Alphonse. It’s French and German and I think it means noble. I don’t think it’s ever been that popular but now I think barely anyone’s using it. I’m loving the name so much after I found it!!!!!
It might be out of your comfort zone and require a lot of research but I think an indigenous names list would be amazing. Canadian, American, Australian etc. There’s not a lot of exposure for these types of names but there are so many beautiful ones. ☺️✨
TheDisell problem is a lot of non-indigenous people will start using them thinking they're "cute" names. Not realizing or straight not caring about how insensitive it is. If you have a kid who is indigenous and would like an indigenous name for them, start by asking the part of their heritage that is indigenous. That's a much better bet than a random RUclips video. Especially since a lot of cultures use family names and pass names on for many many many generations.
Kate Marcella you can put disclaimers out there about appropriation. And of course you can go through family...there are also many resources online. That doesn’t mean you can’t want or ask for representation in this medium as well. People that would use names that aren’t a part of their heritage are already doing it. A well researched video that is informational about the appropriate usage of these types of names sure might give a disrespectful person the idea to use that name, but it will also inform people that didn’t know and create a place for people from the indigenous community be able to enjoy this type of medium as well. There are always pros and cons. On a separate post of hers I asked her to post/share some BIPOC people within her community doing naming videos or resources as well. No response.
I love Clive! My husband and I are huge suckers for boys names that begin with ‘C’ (hence why we named our son Caspian). I’ll definitely be showing him Clive for a future baby!
Great list ! I really really appreciate how you don’t repeat the same names over and over. You put so much thought into your videos and it really shows. Thank you!
with girl names you can add “lina” to almost anything, so i’ve never really liked any boy names (other than the name michael, which is such a family name you wouldn’t even believe 😂) but i’m LOVING these names 💛
Sweet, my son's name is on this list. My husband and I both love older classic names that aren't used much anymore. We have Francis George and Peter Aquinas. Our next boy pick is Augustine Blaise
I love names like the ones you’ve chosen- older names that are classic but unusual. I’m due in three months with a boy, and we’re naming him Antonin Graham since Antonin Dvorak is my husband’s favorite composer. If we have another boy, we’re going with Amos Wilberforce. For a girl we like Eliza and Marguerite.
This is the earliest I've ever been! I love that this is what the video is about too! Nice names and my top two are Aethelwulf and Erwin (so I love that Edwin is in there, so close!)❤️ and pretty please do a german and germanic names video! (Not the same thing heh) and south african (there is different ones for every language there, and there is eleven official languages!) have a brilliant day/night and hope you had wonderful holidays!
Hector : Total "hot guy" name to me, love it! Percival : So gorgeous, one I could totally use if it worked better with my last name! Edwin : So precious, I have a friend with a beautiful baby boy named Edwin! Francis : So classic and wonderful! Cecil : Adore the sound, don't love the meaning :( Clive : This is absolutely gorgeous, and another "hot guy" name to me, I think of Clive Owen for sure! Adrian : So handsome and one I've loved for a long time, but it's been in the top 100 for decades here! Winston : So distinguished! Billie Piper just had another baby this week and called her Tallulah
Hector and Cecil Diamond and Ruby Clive Clark Crimson Cayden Percival and Parsley Perry Bourne and Poppy North Peace Francis Billie Brandy Edwin Winston Aldrin Adonis Messiah Alias Marjorie Peach 🍑 Travis and Talulah Twyla Trinity
I love Hector!! I haven’t even finished the video yet, but had to comment because I hear Hector so seldom except for as secondary characters in a couple of shows.
Percival/Percy is my favourite boys name but my partner has vetoed it :( However, you have inspired us to consider the name Cecily for a girl (Cece for short)... the other half LOVES it! Yay! :D Thanks SJ xxx P.S. would love a Shakespearean names list!
Thought I’d pull a few from my ridiculously long baby name list to share---Arnold Clarence Wesley--- All super cute, vintage, unusual and Wesley is on a doward trend so make great choices xx
I'm 36 weeks pregnant with my third. Girls names are soon much easier! I think we have a name but it's quite unusual - Cybi (pronounced cub-ee) - It's a Welsh/Cornish saints name...but we are really struggling with middle names...not long to go now either!
I'm having no more children or pets.. no idea why I watch these 😂 love thr name Francis 😍 Have you thought about doing a hair routine video? I love your volume and curls! Also the pastel colour is gorgeous.. is it by Bleach London like your pastel pink one?xx
I’m glad you put Percival on the list!! My first boy name choice is Percy for when I have children but I have considered lengthening it to Perseus (I’m a huge mythical/Greek history buff and fanatic); However, I really love Percival as an alternative!
My favourite ever boy name is Albert, nn Bertie, which i think could fall in to this list. I'm not even pregnant but i binged all of your baby name videos on my last day off and added so many names to my baby name list!
Please do girl names that start with O and D I don't know if it's still on your list bc one time you told me you put it on your list of video ideas. Lots of Love!💕
Oh I ADORE each one of these! Clive is such a gem, I haven't heard that one much! I am currently only 6 weeks pregnant with my second, but since my first was a boy I automatically assume I'm going to have another and boy names are harder for me to pick than girl names.
Similar to Hector is Edgar, which I love too. Also, yes, Winston is a super popular dog name here in Canada. I know more than 4 or 5 dogs named Winston.
My husband is called Adrian. He doesn't like it as he thinks it's girls and also people shout "Adriannnnnnn" after the scene in Rocky with Sly Stalone. But I love it!
I have a 2 year old Winston. I had the name picked for our Pug but my husband insisted on naming our son. It suits him so much and I’m so glad we named him Win. 😀
A relative of mine way down the line was named Fenimore (I'm talking middle ages, 1500s). I believe it was his mother's maiden name, but it never popped up in my family since
I see what she means about Winston. I have a dog Winston haha. I love the name but I can’t hear it without picturing the dog. That’s like Oscar, it’s a cute name but also a popular dogs name. I have a little cousin called Oscar and I never mentioned to his mum that my dog was called Oscar so I have to change the dogs name every time they are around. Which isn’t that often but it does confuse the dog a bit haha
My second baby boy is coming into the world this week and this has given me all the feels 😍💖💕 my grandad’s name was Percy so I love that one, so sweet xx
natashalikestea awwww I’m so excited for you; what a wonderful start to a new year and new beginning. Percy! I absolutely love it xxxxxx let me know what you choose? Xxx
I love watching your baby name videos every monday, but it's especially enjoyable when pregnant :) I've got a baby boy arriving in April, we have chosen his name already but I still love watching these videos!! X
I missed watching Monday because we are busy painting our Nursery, (27 weeks!) but I love so many of these names! Percival and Edwin are so nice. Definitely on the list. Winston is one of our top choices if we have a boy, both my husband and I love it. And I dont care if someone thinks it's a dogs name, because a dog named Winston would be pretty cool. Lol. (My dog is Finnegan, which I totally would have used for a baby) keep the baby names coming SJ! Having a more difficult time with girl names if I'm honest.
I’ve noticed a lot of Australian links in this video. Hector being the name of a character in a tv show called Mortified which was popular when I was growing up. He was the most dorky and kind of a loser, yet most adorable character. This one was already on my list and I love it 🥰 Edwin being the name of and emu. Edwin and Edwina the emus were popular books when I was growing up as well. This one has just been added to my list 🤩 And although love the sound of Clive I can’t get over the association with Clive Palmer who is a controversial politician in Australia. Great list SJ I loved pretty much all of these names, Tuesday has become my favourite day of the week as that’s when you’re videos go live here I’m Australia 👍🏻
Yes, I'm in the U.S. and I've known quite a few Adrians. I've also known several Adriennes, the feminine form. I love Edwin and would use it in a heartbeat if it didn't rhyme with our last name. You've kind of sold me on Clive, though I think I'd prefer it in the middle spot.
I love your videos. I’m hispanic so I find it funny when some names are rare in the UK but extremely popular in my culture. Like Hector, Edwin, and in another video you mentioned Victor. Adrian as well is super popular. There are some crazy hispanic names lol You should look some up and maybe you’ll find an interesting one. My brother’s name is really rare outside of Dominican Republic, his name is Algeny (al-hen-ee). Just thought I would share lol Unfortunately my name is a regular name.
I agree, boy's names don't seem to have the same spectrum or variety girls names do. So many of my guy classmates had the same or similar names, but we had girls with pretty unique ones
Ah I'll do one! I haven't bought anything new for ages so never know if people want to see clothes that aren't for sale - but I might treat myself next month! xx
My only worry with Hector is it getting shortened to Heck. Never heard of the bully reference either. I adore Percival, sadly my husband does not. Edwin is sweet, it kind of reminds me of an owl which makes it seem whimsical. I do prefer Edward though. I love Francis, I'm very keen on softer names for boys. I think the nickname Frank is amazing. Again though, my husband doesn't like it 😂 I can't quite get by the name Cecil, perhaps because I did always think it was a girls name. I did meet a super sweet old man called Cecil the other day though. I'd definitely consider Cecilia for a girl though, I assume they derive from the same place. The only Clive I've ever met is currently in his 50s and I tend to struggle with that generation of names. I do, however, see Clive being quite popular in the near future. I'm so surprised Adrian isn't more popular since Aidan is so common. Winston 😍 definitely on my list for baby number 2, funny though as Winifred is top of the girls list too. I do love the nickname Winnie for either gender. My favourite addition for this list is Arnold. It's so uncommon atm but I think it's so great. It's handsome and strong and the nickname Arnie is just the cutest.
I've watched so many of your videos looking for your opinion on Edwin! It is my absolute favorite boy name ever! I love the nickname Winnie so if I ever have a little baby Edwin I would definitely go for that as a nickname. Also I like Percival a lot but I speak french and in french Percy is pronounced like persil which is an herb so I'm afraid it would be wierd to call a bot that ...
Lol. I love Winston too, I think of the original Ghostbusters movies, the 4th Ghostbuster is called Winston. And it does also remind me of a dog name because of a super cute short film that played in front of Big Hero 6, it’s called Feast and it features a blue Boston terrier named Winston!! Super cute!!
I'm pregnant at the moment. I've had all my fave boys names vitoed which where Rafferty (Rafi), Foster, Corris and Roscoe. My husband had no suggestions but we have settled on the name Rex which means- King. We have a daughter called Theodora which means gift from God but we call her Teddy or Thea xxx
Love this backdrop you look beautiful today!! I also know what is on the floor in front of you thanks to instagram ;) lol!! I've said this before but Oslo is my nonnegotiable name and think it suits this list!!!!! Absolutely love Percival!!! (Very Harry Potter ;) ) Edwin would make a great brother for Oslo !! (Should I ever have two boys) My boyfriends name is Francis !! (We are French it is very popular) Clive is soooo cute but doesn't translate well in French, bummer!!
I love Hector.... not sure about Clive 🤣. How about Herbert? It was my grandmothers brother’s name who died in WW2 escaping a prison of war camp, I really like the name for our next baby but not sure if it’s too out there. I also love Percy, Fergus (Nn Gus). Evan and Guy. What do you think SJ xxx
Does anyone else crack out the notes section on their phone waiting to add any potential names for future potential babies..... 👀
Mrs S 😂😂 my notes are full of names!
Haha! I have lists and then lists with my actual children’s names (to see if they ‘go’) and then lists with first, middle and surname 😂
All the time!
Mrs S omg yes!!!
Yes! Been doing it for years and only had my first baby last year
SJ makes every name sound nice because her voice is so nice
I know! Her accent makes every name sound lovely! 💗
Someone said I should start an asmr channel just saying names 😂😂 maybe it’s a good idea!
😂😂
I personally think it’s the little pop ups for the names. The fonts make every name look gorgeous.
This is so true!
you are a writer’s dream!! i come to your channel every time i need names for a character
Me too lmao
same
Litterally me right now lmao
This probably won’t be seen by anyone, but I’m going to share a vintage name anyway: Ellis. Ellis is one of my personal favorites for a boy it’s so harmless and pretty!
Lou Nicholls This has been in my list for a while too!
Ellis & Ennis were on my list for the longest time. The next town over from my great grandparents house was that & the other was a street on the way there so I always connect the two in my mind.
😳 Harmless & Pretty? That's what you would wish for your grown man son, to be harmless & pretty in life?
In Wales Ellis is so popular, there were so many in school growing up! (But it’s pronounced more like elleese)
I like Elliot, which is quite similar.
Yes boy names are sooooo hard! Currently 36 weeks pregnant with my boy.
brianaott ah congrats hon! Xxx
I love the names River and Rain. 😊
brianaott for me I struggle finding a girl name I have loads of boy names because I feel like I’m going to have all boys😂
Morgan Maguire there’s just sooo many more options for girls and boy names tend to be on the boring side. 😆
brianaott l have a Timothy and Luke
I worked at a daycare and I used to love hearing the names that all the children had. Some of my favorites were Romy, Hudson, Isla, Eliza, Maeve, and, Riley.
Oh love those! x
Fast forward two years Percival is flying through the ranks in the UK
Also I love Edwin, Francis, Cecil and Clive!!!!!
when your mexican you hear the name hector quite often
The way you pronounce Cecil is SO much nicer than the way we pronounce it here in the southern US! We say it See-sul.
Everything about you is so positive and the world needs more of that.
Never stop smiling 🙂
I like Clive on this list
Can you do the same style list for girls? Please! X
Georgia Bennett yes great idea!
So cute.
Do you prefer Perseus because of Percy Jackson???
Love all these names choices - Edwin is my favourite! Clive is a great name choice as well! x
Lyndsey Windsor so glad you like them too xxx
Clive and Winston, how cool! Never would have considered those names

It's german? I am from Germany and I have never met someone with that name (and I really don't like it😂)
Lea I think originally but a few centuries ago
@@lottiegreen3658
Oh ok. Because I can only imagine an old man with the name Alfonse🤷🏼♀️
The ph is really interesting. I have heard of Alfonso, but I like your name - certainly unique but sounds familiar
I like it! There could be some fun nicknames as well. Alphie, Al, Phonse lots of fun
It might be out of your comfort zone and require a lot of research but I think an indigenous names list would be amazing. Canadian, American, Australian etc. There’s not a lot of exposure for these types of names but there are so many beautiful ones. ☺️✨
TheDisell i love this idea !
TheDisell great idea. But having non-indigenous people using indigenous names is rude to their culture.
Kate Marcella my daughter is treaty status and I would have loved to have a resource like this to be exposed to that are well researched etc.
Pls could you do a list of girls names linked to the ocean?? Xx
Great list ! I really really appreciate how you don’t repeat the same names over and over. You put so much thought into your videos and it really shows. Thank you!
Ah thank you! I really try to mix it up xx
My Grandfather was a Percival Laurence. Loved the Knick name Percy. I like Edwin. Another older name I like is Hershel , Clive is also lovely
ahhh I LOVE these videos so much! do you think you could do a biblical inspired baby name monday? Xx
Clive is my favourite name right now! Such a handsome name.
with girl names you can add “lina” to almost anything, so i’ve never really liked any boy names (other than the name michael, which is such a family name you wouldn’t even believe 😂) but i’m LOVING these names 💛

Rachael Wilson 😂😂 it’s such a great name and they sound amazing together! Xxx
Ned and Percy would be wonderful together!
I babysat a Percival when I was in high school. My father awkwardly remind me that he's now in high school. I still think of him as 7.
I need to get pregnant too so I can I have a baby boy or girl or both
Sweet, my son's name is on this list. My husband and I both love older classic names that aren't used much anymore.

Cecily, Cecelia and Celia I LOVE.
I love Cecelia
What about Cicily ( as in Tyson?)
I can't hear Francis without thinking of Deadpool!
Thought I’d pull a few from my ridiculously long baby name list to share---Arnold Clarence Wesley--- All super cute, vintage, unusual and Wesley is on a doward trend so make great choices xx
you have such a lovely voice and accent oml, whenever I pronounce these names my aussie accent makes them sound so weird hahaha
My nephews name is Lyle Scott, and I just love it so much. His mom found that name looking through name registries from the 1920s
Love Winston 💛💛

I'm not even pregnant but i binged all of your baby name videos on my last day off and added so many names to my baby name list!
Ah you'll be so prepared!!! I love writing names lists! x
My uncle is called Cecil. We all call him Ces . But Cecil if he’s in trouble .... he gets made at it
Adrian is my top favourite name and has been for several years :D I actually ended up giving it to one of my nephews
Please do girl names that start with O and D

Hector is great! Also the name of the Trojan hero from Homer’s Iliad!!
Love this decor, so boho and cute! Love your baby name videos as always!
I once met someone named Magnus and even though it's a little out there, he pulled it off perfectly!
Oh I ADORE each one of these! Clive is such a gem, I haven't heard that one much! I am currently only 6 weeks pregnant with my second, but since my first was a boy I automatically assume I'm going to have another and boy names are harder for me to pick than girl names.

My husband is called Adrian. He doesn't like it as he thinks it's girls and also people shout "Adriannnnnnn" after the scene in Rocky with Sly Stalone. But I love it!
Tell him the traditional spelling for girls is Adrienne.
I have a 2 year old Winston. I had the name picked for our Pug but my husband insisted on naming our son. It suits him so much and I’m so glad we named him Win. 😀
I really like Canyon, Wilder and Harley for boys love your Chanel xx

Raising The Regans ah I can’t wait to hear what you pick! X
In America we would pronounce Cecil as Cee-cil. I know a Cecil. Interesting we pronounce it different.
Carla Sneeden ah I didn’t realise! Sounds so different! X
In Australia, we pronounce it the same as SJ. So crazy what accents can do! x
The main character in Welcome to Night Vale is Cecil and he gets mad at people when they say Sess-il.
Carla Sneeden I knew a little boy named Cecil in Canada and they pronounced it like you do. It’s such a sweet name.
I do too as a female but I've heard it both ways.
Please do a literary names list!
I dated a Hector. He broke my heart. Never thought I’d hear that name again!
😆

Winston is so cute!! I don’t know the dog reference though 🐶
i’m 16 and have all my kids names planned out yet i still watch your videos every week i love them so much
my fave names in this were definitely edwin, francis and adrian
Great video. Love the Travis mention. I used to listen to Travis all the time and I adored Fran Healy!
Adrian reminds me of the Adrian Mole novels by Sue Townsend which I loved as a child.
Found out I'm expecting my third baby. My third boy 💙💙💙 what genders do you have and what are their names? ❤️
I have no kids of my own yet but my older brother has a son:
Albert William
And a daughter:
Mabel Margaret
Clive is so sweet!!! x
I love Francis because of the TV series "Reign". Winston is also great! I've recently come across Herbert "Herb"; what do you think?
I'm not even pregnant or have a baby yet, but I love watching these videos of yours aha
Ah thank you x
We have a Clyde! (little play on Clive)
Clive is on my list!
Edwin was still too popular for us so we named our baby Edmund!
Oh wow so happy for you great name!
Great video as usual!! Loved all the names. I had a teacher called Cecil and I’ve always loved it, think it’s quite a fun name to say hehe
I agree, boy's names don't seem to have the same spectrum or variety girls names do. So many of my guy classmates had the same or similar names, but we had girls with pretty unique ones
I'm from Swindon too and when you said the name Winston I added it straight to my list! 😂
I love your style! I’d like to see where you get all your clothes from. More fashion videos please ❤️😬. Love all the baby name vids too!! Xx
Again though, my husband doesn't like it 😂
I can't quite get by the name Cecil, perhaps because I did always think it was a girls name.
Ah yes Arnold is so ardorable!!! I've seen it popping up lately xx
Reginald was the name of my Pa and I absolutely love that name ❤️
Ah it's gorgeous x
Always love your names I’m forever telling my pregnant friends to watch baby name Monday ! We liked Francis when carrying Robin xx
Ah thanks Katie! xxx
What about the nn Hank for Hector?
Emilia Grace yes that’s lush!
(Very Harry Potter ;) )
Edwin would make a great brother for Oslo !! (Should I ever have two boys)
My boyfriends name is Francis !! (We are French it is very popular)
Clive is soooo cute but doesn't translate well in French, bummer!!
Winston is so cute! I love the nickname Winnie.
My brother's name is Herbert Russell. We call him H.R. He was named for great grandfathers on either side of the family.
I absolutely love the name Hector, I like the way it sounds in Spanish better though.
Yesss 👏🏻
Never really thought about it but love the name Clive!
I have a little boy named Francis :) I've got do excited that this name is on one of your lists!
Adrian is my sisters name but spelled Adrienne
Hector is such a lovely name. I don't like most baby boy names but this is one I adore. Another baby name I think is amazing is Lysander (:
ooooh Hector is so cute!! I love that! x
