I have the same issue, and the link @aarontechtalk posted in response didn't work. It prompts for a root password IN SINGLE USER MODE. If I just hit enter instead of putting in a password, it boot into multi-user mode.
someone here mentioned an alternate method.... try it www.juniper.net/documentation/us/en/software/junos/user-access/topics/topic-map/recovering-root-password.html#id-recovering-the-root-password-on-junos-os-with-upgraded-freebsd community.juniper.net/discussion/single-user-mode-to-reset-the-password
@@aarontechtalk Thank you for your tuto, i am expert HPE/Cisco/Huawei, but on this techno (JunOS) , when we reset the password recovery we do not lose the conf, it is the same with JunOs? thank you for the help ;)
@@mustaphahannoun4732 Hi Mustapha, thanks. At 5:55 in the video I mention that I have heard that some Juniper products will wipe out config and logs during password recovery. I have not seen that first hand, but read about it. I can say that on this SRX300 I was using in the video, I did not loose the config.
Hello, I have a Juniper WLC 2800 - I'm trying to reset the root password - the router is not entering from the CLI / Serial interface into the Loader mode - I have only one option to skip Auto-Load by clicking on Q plus Enter - there is no prompt for space or other options / I tried - the system enters into the BOOT MODE like this boot> And I'm stuck in here, how can I get the router into the Loader mode so I can make the steps for resetting root password? I found a few little details that it's the boot menu and no instructions / I had in the past several Juniper equipment's where I successfully reset the Root password but this time I'm stuck because it's not going into the loader mode it going to boot mode. Can you please HELP? (I don't have a prompt for space bar!)
I don’t know much about WLC2800 and can’t easily find password recovery instructions specific to that platform. See if this link helps… www.juniper.net/documentation/us/en/software/junos/user-access/topics/topic-map/recovering-root-password.html
thank you was always entering at the first and not being able to recover the device ;O
