How many hats can we make with one skein of Red Heart Supersaver?

- We are having fun with the Sentro machine again. We had some trouble at first with the red heart yarn. The problem was solved with we saw a tip on the Sentro Facebook group about putting a silicone ear plug at the base of the threader. Worked like a charm.
Your hats came out SO pretty!! Lovely family!!❤️🥰🙏🏼
Thank you so much 😀
You done three. Your daughter who helped with the last is so cute.
Thank you!
You can always weigh a finished hat on a kitchen scale and then you will know about how much yarn you need. You can also weigh leftover yarn and see how much you have. (Make sure your using the same type of yarn) I make a lot of hats and keep a scale close by. Scrap hats are cute and unique too.
I've done this too but you need accurate scales that weigh to +/- 1 gram or so, which the modern electronic ones often do.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Hi. Yes! Three hats! Congratulations! Love it!
Awww. You’re daughter is beautiful. X
😊 thank you
I tried the silicone earplugs and that Redheart yarn still did not work BUT it worked BEAUTIFULLY on “I Love This Yarn” from HL. And I’m THRILLED it made a a beautiful hat!!!! Thank you so much for the tip my hat is adorable!!!!
that it's reversible is so cool!!! they look amazing. your family is precious also!
Thank you so much!
Love this and love the fam all being involved! Y’all are incredible! ☺️
You can also make dolls, sweaters and many many more things 😊.
And if you did one row less on the first two, then 100% 3 hats! Now you make me want to go buy this toy🤭
Nobody will know it was off just by 1
One colour red heart skeins weigh more.
Im glad you were able to use rh. Ive seen others try and fail and i got scared to buy one of these
I want to make hats for charitys for next year.
Bet you’d get 3 out of a solid skein!
Yes it helped! Thanks 😊
I'm so glad!
A trick I found is when you bring the Hat up through the middle go ahead and cinch it and then you can use that to bind off with
Maybe you can hot glue a pompom to a little alligator clip, allowing the pompom to be moved. Then the hat can still be reversible :)
You guys are awesome. I love my Addi but my machine does not like RHSS yarn. Any 4 medium weight is a problem. Big twist and crafters from Hobby Lobby all won't work.
Thank you for the tips!
I have both a Sentro and an Addi, and I find that both work very well with Lion Brand Wool-Ease, and with James C. Brett Marble Chunky. I knit 140 rows for a double thick hat, though I will try 120 to see how that sizes. I have trouble with stitches skipping, using any other yarn, so I'd love to know how to use the RHSS.
Thank you for your informative answer. Much appreciated.
What's the color of the yarn? You never shared it. Love, love the color waves!
It’s about 30 seconds in. It’s called 🎉party time 🎉
@@TheReslers TY so much!
New sub. Great information. I bet using a hand held loom would work too. That's what I have.
I have the hand held kind too. Both are fun!
Cute ☺️👍💖
the turned out amazing.
I am confused though at 2:50, why go around the machine to pick up the stitches when you can rotate the machine? (I think like lazy people lol)
I think your idea is how most people would do it, but when I was moving it I was getting scared because it looked like the loops were falling off LOL .
Enjoy so much this fabulous family video! And I love the yarn colors 😮❤🥰 I am getting tempted to get that machine 😅
I’m getting tempted to buy another one in a different size. So fun.
This is more about the family working together and having fun!!! You can add a removable pom pom
that can worn on either side. Three ways to attach a removable pom pom/Removable pom pom tutorial::

I always get dropped stitches and tucked ones too. I don’t want to give up. Is there a way to prevent it from happening again like types of yarn and weight of it
I'm sorry I missed this comment. I hope you got it worked out. I used a silicone earplug where the yarn goes in and it helped a lot.
What kind of machine is this? What are the instructions for knitting a basic hat?
Hi Joy. This is a Sentro circular knitting machine. Sharon Lee has a great beginner hat tutorial on her page which I used to make my first hat: ruclips.net/video/1Loo25bPk8A/видео.html
We call them toques(tukes) in Canada
That’s definitely been a new word to me after making these videos. I love learning about regional things like that. Don’t know why, but it’s so interesting to me!
I want 1
How do you get it to stop dropping stitches???
We tried the earplug trick and it worked awesomely for us! Here is a short I did: ruclips.net/user/shortsXXkAjZE2pZA?feature=share
Can you explain what you meant by the silicone earplugs thingy?.
I’m sorry it wasn’t clear! I just made a short and a post to clarify
My sentro hates red heart super saver
Mine did too, until I put the silicone ear plug by the threader. Now it’s working.
I kept my eye on the yarn in that yarn bowl during that last hat t see if you would make it 🙂. I don't need one of these machines, but watching everyone on here and TikTok have fun with them has me tempted.
I am obsessed with watching people use these machines and want one really bad. How long did it take to make one hat?
I am also obsessed. So satisfying for some reason lol. It takes about 30 mins for a regular hat without kid help. With kid help, probably 45 🤣
That is awesome to see and know it can make three hats with one thing of yarn 😍
That's wonderful looking for a good model to buy . Recommendations? Can private message me . Thank you
I’m so excited to get my machine!!! Thanks for these videos :)))
Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for the videos. I don’t need the machines either but I ordered the addi’s king and pro and have until Wednesday or Thursday to wait for delivery! I’m excited! Your videos are helping encourage the anticipation part! Loved the family affair part! I’m sure I’ll be getting some help from my family as well!
@@paulettegaleener6754 it’s so fun and there seem to be endless new things to learn
Nice I was thinking about getting one of those things. It looks so much fun.
I've seen hats with snap on pom poms. That may be something you can do with your reversible hats.
Thank you I will try that!
Get some clamps at the hardware store to keep the machine from sliding on the wood table. I have mine on a TV tray and use 4 inch clamps over the suction cups
This is a great idea, thank you!
I didn't expect it to go past two. Nice job. New subscriber. Happy new year!
Happy new year!
So what other yarns work without using the silicone ear plugs and what yarns is needed for the earplugs ?
You are such an adorable family and the beanies are gorgeous. ❤️
Thank you so much!
Use an electric screwdriver with the Sentro. You can get an attachment from Amazon. It adds to the fun!
I like that each hat is unique from one skein. It's nice to know. Thanks and love it
You did 3 hats. That 1 row won't make a difference, you said how many hats could we get out of the skein.
So I'm just curious if anyone else have thought about removing the hand and attaching a drill to the machine to automate this, not crazy fast, but at a slower speed that the mechanics would still run correctly. Is the handle not removable, or is this a bad idea just based on the construction of the machine?
I heard there are attachments for using a drill to crank these machines for sale on Etsy 😊
So, you did 120 rows for each of the first two? This is the best videos I’ve found-well your other one you showed and explained it. Are you going to do more videos-I hope so. I just ordered mine from Walmart, unfortunately I have to wait until it gets here on the 12th. I’ve been wanting one of these for so long now. I subscribed-gonna look around.
Yes. 120 seems to be a good amount for a basic one. I think it really depends on your yarn too. Some seems a lot stretchier than others.
Put pompom on some and not the others so you have a variety
Na, here in Australia it's a beanie.
U guys are cute 🥰
How many rows for a hat? I just got my knitter and can't stop!
These are 120, but the long one I made in the other video is 260
@@TheReslers Thank you!
I am a first time subscriber. watching because I have had two different machines, one round and one long, but had so much trouble with dropped stitches. So by watching I can learn what I might be doing wrong. I have to say your daughter is so adorable. I am a nana and I love children. give her a cuddle for me.
Awesome! Thank you!
What do you mean, "a silicone ear plug at the base of the threader"? Can you show us? I am having fits with my Red Heart, but would really like to use it. Thanks!
If you look at my shorts, I made a couple of them showing where. Hopefully this link works: ruclips.net/user/shortsXXkAjZE2pZA?feature=share
I ordered this knitting machine to make hats for my Christmas shoeboxes out of my random yarn skeins I have laying around.
That’s a great idea!
I have one but mine doesn't keep the stitches together,it skips . What am I doing wrong.
Have you tried the ear plug on the threader? I made a short about it. The Red Heart yarn was skipping really badly for us before we put the silicone earplug on the threader.
Toboggan is a sled! Toque is a hat 😅😂 great video!
😂 😂😂
So I got my Sentro and bought the same yarn you have in this video because I thought the hats were adorable. I tried more than 10 times to make a hat with the red heart party yarn and my machine HATES and I do mean HATES this yarn. I'm so sad. So far out of 6 yarns my machine only likes Lion brand heartland yarn. At least it likes something!!!! This machine is so frustrating, I had such high hopes of making everyone I know a hat but ugh it may not happen.
Oh no! Have you tried using a silicone ear plug where the yarn feeds into the machine? It totally changed things for us.
P.s. here’s what I’m talking about : ruclips.net/user/shortsXXkAjZE2pZA?feature=share
My sentro will NOT use red heart yarn ! Needs slippery yarn.... what am I doing wrong as I love that color yarn!!!
Have you tried the silicone earplug thing? This yarn didn’t work for me until I did it. I have a couple shorts showing it.
@TheReslers I don't know what this is ... can you please enlighten me? Thanks for the reply...appreciate any help!!
Very cool. Maybe I can start making hats/beanies for the Ronald McDonald House kids.
Will you show a video on how to start and bind off and finish with this machine?
Thank you! Love this❤
That’s good going make 3 hats .. I haven’t got a sentro machine as yet,I do love my addi’s xx
How many rows?
These hats were 120.
Wait….toboggans ?!? Who said that 😂where do they call hats toboggans?
Here in Appalachia 🤣🤣🤣
I'm in Ohio and I call that
I could not love the toboggan hat thing anymore 🥹😂 I’m gonna try and make it stick in NY . 🤓😃 wish me luck!
I haven't seen any comprehensive videos on the differences between the 22, 32, 48...etc. What size would you recommend for a smaller adult hat?
This is a 48 and does well for my kids’ hats. I learned if you want it smaller, to use tighter tension. But if you want to make baby hats, I think you’d need a smaller one .
This shows you the tube size comparison. The 48 is a good size for all hats, kids or adults. I use my 32 for ear warmers. I think it's just the right size. m.ruclips.net/video/w9oWNXMGpeU/видео.html
@@TheReslers Thank you. I'll remember that tip! :)
I've made smaller, double-layer hats knitting 70, 80 and 86 rows. If you want a two-color reversible, knit 35-43 rows with one color and then change to another color for the remainder. These turn out to be great toddler hats.
Just found y'all today and subscribed. Love the hats and you had some good help!
Awesome! Thank you!
Your daughters intro was so cute 😊
Thank you!! 😊I think so too.
So why does everyone make double knit beanies w this? Wouldn’t a single layer be enough in most areas to be warm and then it could make 5-6 hats yes? When u loom knit I only did one layer myself so when I get one of these I plan to try and do single layer hats bc it’s faster and less yarn waste too. Is there any reason to do double?
I definitely want to try some single knit (cabling too). I think people are doing a lot of double because it can’t handle bulky yarn and they don’t want it to be see through. But that’s just a guess. I also like it being reversible.
@@TheReslers I like the reversible, too - but have also found that the hats are just warmer when doubled.
@@TheReslers Wait. You can cable with the Sentro?? Do tell!! Also - I don't know where to find the short you made, explaining the silicone earplug use.
lol in Canada you're both wrong on what they're call they're "touques" up here! :D
Do you say it like the word toe with a k at the end, or too with a k sound at the end? Or neither 😂 lol. Maybe I can’t even do it with my Appalachian accent 😂😂😂
I tried to find the earplug hack, no luck, anybody find it ?
Hi! Here it is! ruclips.net/user/shortsXXkAjZE2pZA?feature=share
@@TheReslers wow thanks, great video and thanks for your time🙏❤️🇨🇦👍
