Love the cold porcelain tutorials and the many tips you offer for using it, but I do also like to work in sugar - so what I am saying is whatever you feel comfortable using for any particular flower/leaf is okay with me!! Thank you for your time to show us x
Love your work, love your videos. They are quick, straight to the point and witty and viewers don't have to wade through hours of useless gabbling as you take time to edit so well. You are clearly very experienced and knowledgeable about your subject, unlike myself. However, I do sometimes have to repeat watch to catch everything which I don't mind at all as eventually I will become more familiar with the terminology. Excellent video thank you. Mx
I love Gumpaste Flower work! Recently been doing some research on Cold Porcelain to do some some Interior decorations and very keen on your tutorials especially since you also work with Gumpaste
Though I can work in gum paste, I work almost exclusively in Cold Porcelain. While I use the same cutters, I find that the shrinkage makes them look much different, they are smaller in the finished product. I have also found that when humidity is higher and it is warmer, the cold porcelain has a more realistic or leathery touch to the finished flower. When it is colder or the humidity is lower, they can actually be as brittle or even more so than gum paste, so that's something you will want to watch out for if you are traveling with some flowers. I greatly enjoy working in Cold Porcelain, and find that if you have the proper tools, you can even make them without wire in many cases. I have made extremely realistic African Violets without a single bit of wire in them, stems, leaves, stamens - all of it. Blessings and enjoy the process, whatever your choice of mediums!
My flowers can be seen on Chrissie's Creations on Facebook. The icon for my page is the same as here, as there are others of the same name...my dog's face is recognizable in all venues. :) In New England, USA, it gets cold and dry in the winters. I don't know what the temperature was but took a bouquet to show someone, and the sunflower petals ended up breaking off not all, but those bumped. We had snow at that time.
Alan Dunn and Tombi Peck published a book a few years ago - ((I found this helpful There are lots of books - - I started with Sugar flowers but they break and I think that CP is comparable) - The shrinkage is a bit of a challenge (working out the ratio) - I make the flowers to embellish gift wrappings. I have sent you my work ups for my recipe for CP I thought you might be interested in; just sharing! Look forward to hearing your thoughts!
CAKELOSOPHY Thanks for responding! And the confidence boost lol. I hope you dont mind me asking, but how on earth do you keep your clay so CLEAN? I'm going nuts, washing my hands, tools, and work surface constantly, not wearing anything fuzzy, keep my hair up, keep the cats out, and its not helping. :( I'll scrub my hands so thoroughly, use alcohol or baby wipes, and still the second I touch the clay, it gets dirty. Its so frustrating lol.
Very interesting! Love how you compared the two mediums. Would really like to know more on CP, especially on colouring and dusting. Your flowers are so lifelike and mine always seem so flat 😘💕
When working with cold porcelain, is there a particular time frame that the petals need to sit after cutting/veining them before placing them on the flower?
Try branded I use Mama dora Flexible and it's the best CP I tried. Still though it does take few goes to get used to. DIY is not so great in terms of how it bears out in the ready product, and less easy to work with. Does give you an idea though
Hi there your flowers are gorgeous !! My question is I’ve only worked with gumpaste at the moment and the humidity affects it quite a lot is it the same for the porcelain ?
I use Sangeta Shah's recipe, but prefer Aileen's white tacky craft glue and I use white vinegar instead of lemon juice. Makes a wonderful Cold Porcelain. Hope that's a help to you. :) I'm in the USA, so don't know if you have it available where you are or not...and forgive if I'm not supposed to share my thoughts, I've been using Cold Porcelain for a few years, and before that, Bread Dough Clay since the 1970's....
Let us know how it comes out, please. I am allergic to eating corn, so likely I am working with it as well, I'd be interested in how the rice works out. Blessings!
Добрый день, меня зовут Лиля. Мне очень нравятся ваши роботы. Скажите пожалуйста что это за паста из которой получаются такие цветы? И если можно скажите из чего она состоит?
Hi Christina. In the last video I watched of yours, I asked what was COLD PORCELAIN vs. Gumpaste. I think the answer is cold porcelain is modeling clay. Is it like FIMO or is it different? Since I have already invested a lot of money into gumpaste and the tools. I would like to see video's in BOTH styles if that is OK. Thank you...thumbs up!
never acrylic , only oil, there are more expensive paints with better pigment, they work better, plus look out for the black square on the back of the tube
Like your channel like your work but sometimes you quickly skip the most important parts like the centre of the Rose in my humble opinion the most important step also yes would like to see both gumpaste (more!!) and cold 🥶 porcelain

When working with cold porcelain, is there a particular time frame that the petals need to sit after cutting/veining them before placing them on the flower?
Which are the paints used? Oil colors , acrylic or soft pastels???
Yes please, I'm self taught with Sugar paste but I'm wanting to switch. I'm not doing so well 😕
Try branded I use Mama dora Flexible and it's the best CP I tried. Still though it does take few goes to get used to. DIY is not so great in terms of how it bears out in the ready product, and less easy to work with. Does give you an idea though
