Thrilled to see New Riff on your list. I live in the Cincinnati area and belong to the whiskey club. Those special released are truly special. Be sure to visit the Aquifer Bar when you are there - they have an extensive whiskey library of many of their limited releases and have great cocktails too.

Jim Beam takes heat sometimes but in terms of great value whiskey they are crushing it. Single barrel, extra aged, Overholt Monogahela and 114, all fantastic at a fantastic price.

Corbin Cash is my current favorite farm/distillery. Recently visited their location in central California. David was so great an knowledgeable to talk with. Their single barrel ryes are so good, and I had a sample of a 6 year single barrel bourbon at 146proof that was out of this world. Highly, highly recommend.

Before I even start watching, lemme list mine.
    1. Balcones Distilling - this outfit produces the most densely flavored, assertive, gorgeous whiskies I've ever had.
    2. Jim Beam - between Knob Creek 9 and Old Grand-Dad (Bonded and 114), this distillery is *much* better than the white label pablum would lead you to suspect.
    3. Heaven Hill - Larceny, Evan Williams Bottled In Bond, and Mellow Corn put this one on the list.
    4. Jack Daniel's - the black label is barely good, but Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof is superb juice. And the sample of the 10 year that I had was almost as good.
    5. Sagamore Spirit - I'm a bourbon guy, and drink rye only now and again, but these guys do a superb rye whiskey.
5:13 MGP is the big distillery. Ross & Squibb is the name under which they produce their own brands. And Lux Row is a distillery that MGP recently bought. Pretty soon MGP's going get so big that it owns umpteen distilleries and brands, like Diageo and Brown Foreman and Beam Suntory. 🙂

Ardbeg, Knob Creek, Sagamore, Wild Turkey, and Heaven Hill I think are some of my favorites right now. Just recently started getting into peated scotch and Ardbeg is really good, I currently have the 5 year Wee Beastie and Uigadail and both are amazing whiskies. If I remember correctly Knob Creek is a Jim Beam product, and I like the KCSB more than I do Rare Breed, it's just better, and from what I've heard, it's even the same mash bill as WT products but with a slightly higher proof point and non chill filtered, that bottle is a budget juggernaut in my opinion it's so good for only &50. So far I've only experienced the Sagamore DO rye, and it's so good, a tad pricey but still really tasty, and I'm looking forward to trying some of the other releases from Sagamore. I can't honestly claim to be a huge fan of Wild Turkey, I need to try more of their offerings, but 101 is fine for cocktails, neat it's just ok, Rare Breed did not live up to the hype for me, I might buy one more bottle to see I just got a bad batch or something but after that, if it's not that good, I'll probably be done with that bottle for a long while at least, but Russel's Reserve Single Barrel is really good stuff and I'm very curious about their 6 year rye, single barrel rye, and Rare Breed rye. Best thing coming out of Heaven Hill right now in my opinion is Larceny Barrel Proof, I currently have the C923 and the A124, but I really wasn't impressed by Elijah Craig B523, it was just really spice forward with not much on sweetness and the finish just kinda fell flat for me. Really hoping I can get Larceny B524 and C924, I'd love to do a blind between those 4 Larceny Barrel Proof offerings.

A really nice video. While I am leaving a comment, I might as well give you my top 5 distilleries. My first one Green River. Great price, great liquid. Can't wait to try the full proof. No. 2 is Spirit of Texas with their Pfluger Single Malt - just gorgeous. No. 3 is Glenglassaugh. While I am sad that their core has been replaced when Brown-Forman bought them back in February, but the new core is just as good (almost), but different. No. 4 is Starward from Australia. Their wine cask finished single malts at 82 proof are remarkable with such flavor. No. 5 is Rebecca Creek. In my opinion, the best double oak for the price and proof. Cheers!

  • @claywatson4880

Single Malt suggestions: Cotswolds out of the UK. Their offerings are all cask strength. Their base single malt is $57ish and excellent. The sherry finish is very good and $90ish. The Bourbon finish is amazing and also $90ish. They all come in around 55-60abv but you'd never guess that when drinking them. Two Colorado distilleries that are putting out very good single malts are Boulder Distillery and 291 Distillery. Some of the limited releases from 291 are a little pricey but fantastic whiskey. Couldn't agree more on the Westward offerings. Cheers.
