But sans won’t just let you get away He will chase you the entire route, punishing you for stopping On neutral this won’t be a huge issue, just keep moving forward and you’ll be fine. However, in genocide it’s not so easy. You HAVE to stay within an area to spawn monsters, meaning you HAVE to fight sans repeatedly. This will eventually make the genocide grind even more annoying and boring, which is exactly want sans wants. He WANTS you to give up. Eventually you would get fed up with sans and attack… and deal decent damage. Sure, it’s nowhere near close enough for it to be worth the hassle, but you are getting stronger. At some point, you will reach a level of strength where you can take down sans and gain… 0 EXP You can’t kill what’s already dead, but you did stop him for a time. You now have a few minutes to continue your grind without having to worry about sans showing up. But once that time is up, it’s back to the usual repetitiveness. As you go farther and farther into the route, sans will be less and less dangerous. Sure, you could run, but at this point taking him out would only cost a few extra turns, and would help in the long run. And as you deal with him, you are getting stronger. Sans will eventually become nothing more than a nuisance. A minor obstacle to be worked around. He’ll be nothing more than a basic monster that dies in a few hits. You are too powerful for him at this point, this creature that once threatened you every second was now some minor thing that stalled you for a few seconds. And once you reach a high enough ATK, it won’t even be a few seconds. You will hear the alert, see him coming, and just… attack. One hit and he’s down. There’s no more threat. No more fear. No more… anything. You are just an emotionless killer that couldn’t care less about an immortal being. The only thing that bothers you is the fact that he will come back later to pester you once again. And that is what genocide SHOULD be. It should start out hard but become repetitive and dull as you grow stronger and lose more and more of yourself
