ගල්විල උද‍්‍යානය | Galwila Eco Park by Department of Forest Conservation | Sri Lanka

🐘 Galwila is a unique forest ecosystem in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. Established by the Forest Department. This park is in the Karuwalagaswewa area, between the Puttalam - Anuradhapura main road [A12] and next to the 22nd milepost. It is a dry zone forest system covering an area of 35,000 hectares.
Nearly 30 species of dry zone mammals including elephant, leopard, and deer have been identified in these forests, as well as a large number of rare species of birds including reptiles and amphibians, including owls, eagles, and white ibises. Different plant species also double or triple the beauty of the forest. The ecosystem has seven beautiful large boulders and the historical site of Vilandagoda which is of historical value associated with the legendary Saliya Ashokamala love story.
