The inimitable Anna Karina, may she rest in peace. Her impact on cinema and particularly la nouvelle vague cannot be underestimated. Her films provided me with ephemeral transport away from my darkest hours. Her beauty and unique energy will forever be emblazoned in my mind. 💔
You can still see that she's still very fond of the memories that she made with Godard. Rest in peace, Anna Karina, you were a beautiful soul. Rest in peace, Jean-Luc Godard, one of the best film-makers of all time.
Probably the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen in my entire life.Apart from her external beauty,I sense a very much warm-hearted person, caring, sweet and compassionate. To top it off,her interpretation and acting in general always been so smooth and seemly, encompassed by high intellectuality and almost inherent expressions both facial and behavioral in every single film. In my books, one of the greatest!!
R.I.P. Anna Karina. Probably my favorite actress of all time. I only found out that she had died after Christmas, but it was still pretty recent since she passed away on the 14th. I got the Godard essential collection and Vivre Sa Vie on criterion for Christmas. So I only found out about it after getting 4 of her best films. I don’t know how that makes me feel. Whether it should make me more sad or not. I don’t know. There are people who can say it better than me. I just wanted to say that we’ll all miss her.
We do and will continue to do so. It's awesome that you have some of her films, it's all we have to maintain our connection to this wonderful, talented and beautiful woman.
+mo O She was born in Denmark, but went to Paris when she was 17, and has lived there ever since. I saw her being interviewed in Danish in Copenhagen a couple some years ago, and her Danish had become very rusty. She has just been honoured with a life achievement award by the Danish Film Institute.
I heard her tell this story 3 different times and each time it changes lol. The first time when she was young and this rude interviewer asked her about, she said it was a year since she heard from him again. A few years later she said 6 months!! And here she says he called after 3 months lol 🌸
Noticed that too. I guess it's normal when you grow older that events seem to take place at a faster rate and also every time you remember your memories are actually altered slightly by your brain. I don't think she intentionally 'lied' about it in any of the interviews.
I saw that with the rude interviewer and she did say a year. I found the hard to believe because if a man wants to be with a woman, he wouldnt contact her after a whole year no matter how busy he is. At the time she did that interview i think she said it was a year long (on purpose) because ppl judged her for how she met Goddard as this was after the mean criticism she got, so of course for the interview she lied. I also think she lied when she said she thinks she ugly. She knew the interviewer was judging her so she said what he didnt expect to hear.
French women make me crazy. Every year we lament the tourists leaving San Francisco, and wait for the summer for the French girls to return, while we sit at the Cafe Puccini, and dream. (and discuss world matters, of course)
I hope to read that one day Anna Karina denounces the anti-Semitism of Jean-Luc Godard. There are scores of instances of Godard having expressed anti-Semitic views, talk , etc. in the French press and elsewhere. His recent support of the extreme right wing (Fascist?) Le Front National political party in the framework of a WW II Vichy fascist French government involved in genocide , is particularly disturbing. Also disturbing is the fact that Godard's film most revered by critics was/is A BOUT DE SOUFFLE. It's undeniable that much of the panache of the movie comes from two elements: 1. the jazz score, composed by a Jewish Frenchman 2. the interview in which famous Jewish French film director, Jean-Pierre Melville, does the acting. How does Godard reward these people? With his anti-Semitism, reminiscent of the odious betrayal of the French government and sectors of the French people towards the Jewish neighbours. Anyone in the business should either keep quiet or denounce him. Otherwise , he or she is complicit in racist activity.
+gram4neil There was no real "script" for Breathless - Godard would write the lines literally the day they were to be shot. The closest thing the film had to a real script was the story outline, and that was what Truffaut wrote.

Как это ни удивительно, но ей удалось сохранить себя Анной Кариной до таких преклонных лет! Потрясающе!!

Respeito. Ele agradeceria.
Anna mon amour....
i can watch her talk for hours
❤️
charming
Godard knew how to choose actress: Karina, Bardot, Fonda...
Is this woman for real? He seems like she's in her early 50's at most and she was born in 1940...This is a 2013 interview no?
I believe this interview is from the 90's.
On s'en fout de son âge..ce qui est important c'est ce qu'elle dit ..Qu'est ce que ces américains sont superficiels et manquent de profondeur !!
Having an advert looking for a actress and a soulmate is pretty weird but times are different I guess?

+sclogse1 She's Danish. OK, she migrated to France, and she's NICE!.
rip
where can i watch the full interview?
This Denmark lady has so beautiful eyes! like a leopard。。 so sometimes I scared although.,
Je regrette le temps des télégrammes quand on envoyait et recevait des "petits bleus"...
oh oui ...ça me rend tellement triste ...
So short !
aw
she's 73
how old is she here?
yb I think she was about 73 here, I'm not sure though.
yb Oh i just realized that this interview could be from the 90's so she's younger than that.

Seeing Godard's eyes is a jumpscare
RIP Jean-Luc Godard (1930-2022)

Godard looked like the mad scientist kind. Anna lost her lovely voice, pity.
Sean Nessman I thought the same. Maybe it was the chainsmoking?
he is a bit creepy i'm not gonna lie
How do we know what she's saying, they could put anything in the closed captions
I didn't realize he met her as a minor, *hmm*
Dan Roy Yeah, shocking, isn't it?

Daniel Vallejo Garcia Israeli's. Not Jews.
Arik Carlo Re: Breathless -- the writer was also Truffaut, who in my opinion is the most famous French-Jewish director:)
+Nora Mariana Salim It was Truffaut's idea, but Godard's script.
