Dhoni is crucial for 2 things. Post his arrival he taught India how to finish games in ODIs. 90s fans are used to seeing matches where India could have closed out matches by batting 50 overs but collapsed by 40-45 overs.
Another is fitness. People think its Virat. But actually its Dhoni under whom Virat himself got fit. Dhoni taught the power of fitness helps in converting singles to doubles. And then ofcourse six hitting power.

But when we remember on the WC cup wins we wont be mentioning Gambhir, Hayden, Jayasurya, Gavaskar, Akram, Viv Richards, David Boon or Shane Warne but yes for sure each and everyone make their contribution for winning the trophy for their team but the captain of the ship is more important and that too Dhoni was not just the captain he changed the entire Indian team into a phenomenally strongest ever in the world from 2007 to 2011 And that's why we celebrate Dhoni every year on the day of World cup Win of 2011 ❤

Keep hearing about the great man's contribution to each and everyone even at his peak and moving forward. And you both not leaving any stones unturned. I always said and felt the 30 odd made by Suresh Raina in the quarter finals against Australia, that is one of my all time favorite innings. And of course you folks didn't miss out on the great player like Gautam Gambhir and his contributions. Yuvi had always been a great ambassador of the white ball formats. Dhoni ofcourse he marched like a King at every game with his gat brains. Each and every second of you conversation is more passion for the game and love for the game without missing any insights. So happy to see this. While we all are huge fans of the legendary SRT and Thala MSD, can’t forget the contribution of Yuvi Paaji, who in my opinion is one of the best to have ever played the game. Not to forget Suresh Raina’s super knocks and Gautam Gambhir. Without doubt, Gambhir has been a phenomenal player for Team India and needs standing ovation from one and all!

I still remember that 2011 quarter final against australia
When yuvi and raina came together at the end, it was a tense situation
the required run rate, back then, in the pre ipl madness era, seemed a lot when it actually wasn't
India probably needed 60/70, but it was against lee and co, defending world conquerors
one perfect yorker landed, and possibly the match would be over
born in 96, I honestly didn't have much expectations from the team, but ganguly's revolutionary 11, who brought back trust and loyalty into the fans, deserved it
winning it this time around would be way more challenging. But given the batting unit performs, intending to dominate, escaping a few potential dews, I think they can go the distance
australia and the england game in the group are a must win
On the night of iconic 2nd april, 2011, we went out for a casual walk nearby. And the generally empty streets were suddenly seeing a lot of people
cricket is the invisible religion in india. Hopefully it never gets reduced to only the ipl. Future generations too should understand that bharata as a nation is an emotion of a different magnitude altogether. Dhanyawaad

Thank you ash for giving the true picture of gautam gambhir. Today people sledge him because he had banter with kohli on ground but they forget what gautam gambhir was. He fought with shahid afridi, kamran akmal, the giant Shane Watson when kohli was teenager.

Uncontrollable tears rolling down thinking of that moment ..these cricketers gave us and continue to give us so much of joy and we should take it for granted its the players who are most dispointed than us the fans .. and we have to stand with the team when we lose more than when we do well ... as a die-hard and passionate cricket fans i feel thats the least we could do
Be with the team when they fail as well .. and not abuse and invade their personal space and abuse them especially in SM

not to forget, Zak's impeccable 5 over spell at the start of that world cup final. something like 1 or 2 runs in 5 overs. Not many remember about it, but it was key to ensuring India chases a much lesser score at the end.

I was a kid during 2011WC. I know cricket, used play and used to hear a lot about matches from friends but I didn't know what it means to lift the cup or I knew nothing about pressure or what's at stake. So during the finals, I was on my way home from school and some cricket fans arranged live telecast through a projector and GG was batting in a pressure conditions. I stood there on road leaving my bag and cycle, I can't forget what I experienced. GG's batting reminded me the quote never give up. Oh God! Hadn't I watched that match, maybe I wouldn't have become a cricket fan and I'm glad I watched it.

That ravi shastris commentary at the end was an icing on the cake ..
Even when yuvraj hit six sixes ..
When Sreesanth took the final catch in 2007... it was his commentary in the background like a bgm to top it all ..
Excited for 2023 ..hope all we Indians have a memorable world cup
