Harsha was so right about Sachin. As much as that World Cup was a farewell to Sachin, it certainly helped that he scored. Sachin was the tournament's second highest scorer, just 18 runs behind Dilshan.
The one person who acted as a glue for the whole team in 2011 was Gary Kirsten. His contribution is intangible. Sad he was not mentioned at least once in the episode
Dhoni is crucial for 2 things. Post his arrival he taught India how to finish games in ODIs. 90s fans are used to seeing matches where India could have closed out matches by batting 50 overs but collapsed by 40-45 overs. Another is fitness. People think its Virat. But actually its Dhoni under whom Virat himself got fit. Dhoni taught the power of fitness helps in converting singles to doubles. And then ofcourse six hitting power.

Keep hearing about the great man's contribution to each and everyone even at his peak and moving forward. And you both not leaving any stones unturned. I always said and felt the 30 odd made by Suresh Raina in the quarter finals against Australia, that is one of my all time favorite innings. Thanks Ash & Harsha, this is not just beautiful revisiting our glorious past, there is so much of life lessons in these conversations, goes way beyond just cricket. Wonderful
One thing I think they missed to mention is the improvement in the running between the wickets that improved drastically in the middle overs during that period
Hi Ashwin, Great episode and thanks for that ! Mentioning the Indian players of 2011 - there was no mention on Virendra Schewag who hit first ball 4 in almost all the matches! What a great opener he was in both Test and White Ball cricket.

So happy to see this. While we all are huge fans of the legendary SRT and Thala MSD, can’t forget the contribution of Yuvi Paaji, who in my opinion is one of the best to have ever played the game. Not to forget Suresh Raina’s super knocks and Gautam Gambhir. Without doubt, Gambhir has been a phenomenal player for Team India and needs standing ovation from one and all!
The point about GG ❤ Was always a team Man. Just that People misinterpreted his statement That Team is more important than Individuals... But he deserved more love for all his achievements.. Ash anna on the point
While the broadcasters are failed to deliver that WORLD CUP VIBE so, there is RAVI ASHWIN & HARSHA BHOGLE are doing that stuff for us. And desperately waiting for RAVI SHASTRI to do the rituals in his style.❤
I still remember that 2011 quarter final against australia When yuvi and raina came together at the end, it was a tense situation the required run rate, back then, in the pre ipl madness era, seemed a lot when it actually wasn't India probably needed 60/70, but it was against lee and co, defending world conquerors one perfect yorker landed, and possibly the match would be over born in 96, I honestly didn't have much expectations from the team, but ganguly's revolutionary 11, who brought back trust and loyalty into the fans, deserved it winning it this time around would be way more challenging. But given the batting unit performs, intending to dominate, escaping a few potential dews, I think they can go the distance australia and the england game in the group are a must win On the night of iconic 2nd april, 2011, we went out for a casual walk nearby. And the generally empty streets were suddenly seeing a lot of people cricket is the invisible religion in india. Hopefully it never gets reduced to only the ipl. Future generations too should understand that bharata as a nation is an emotion of a different magnitude altogether. Dhanyawaad
Wild card entry of Aswin is the one I was looking for.. In This world cup, aswin you have something to do... you cannot be a Yuvraj, but You can be a piston of an engine and keep enthe engine moving...
Thank you ash for giving the true picture of gautam gambhir. Today people sledge him because he had banter with kohli on ground but they forget what gautam gambhir was. He fought with shahid afridi, kamran akmal, the giant Shane Watson when kohli was teenager.
Thats magic. we can feel it and enjoy. Great insights into the game. As ashwin pointed out, opportunity ll come to you and we have to be ready for it. Absolutely right and that has happened to Ashwin to enter this world cup also. Waiting for that moment of glory again.
Uncontrollable tears rolling down thinking of that moment ..these cricketers gave us and continue to give us so much of joy and we should take it for granted its the players who are most dispointed than us the fans .. and we have to stand with the team when we lose more than when we do well ... as a die-hard and passionate cricket fans i feel thats the least we could do Be with the team when they fail as well .. and not abuse and invade their personal space and abuse them especially in SM

Honestly before Asia cup I was slightly sceptical about INDIA's chances but a month later m super confident about us winning especially with ur inclusion our side is extremely balanced
not to forget, Zak's impeccable 5 over spell at the start of that world cup final. something like 1 or 2 runs in 5 overs. Not many remember about it, but it was key to ensuring India chases a much lesser score at the end.
A beautiful beautiful discussion! One of the best I've watched. Ash, you have such a great disposition. You are so talented! You should be proud! This was rightfully the best episode of the series! 🎉❤
Teared up listening to this episode. Great conversation touching upon the nuances and acknowledging everyone who contributed incl Munaf who has been forgotten since.
I was a kid during 2011WC. I know cricket, used play and used to hear a lot about matches from friends but I didn't know what it means to lift the cup or I knew nothing about pressure or what's at stake. So during the finals, I was on my way home from school and some cricket fans arranged live telecast through a projector and GG was batting in a pressure conditions. I stood there on road leaving my bag and cycle, I can't forget what I experienced. GG's batting reminded me the quote never give up. Oh God! Hadn't I watched that match, maybe I wouldn't have become a cricket fan and I'm glad I watched it.
That ravi shastris commentary at the end was an icing on the cake .. Even when yuvraj hit six sixes .. When Sreesanth took the final catch in 2007... it was his commentary in the background like a bgm to top it all .. Excited for 2023 ..hope all we Indians have a memorable world cup

Thanks Ash & Harsha, this is not just beautiful revisiting our glorious past, there is so much of life lessons in these conversations, goes way beyond just cricket. Wonderful
Glad they spoke about Raina ...❤
One thing I think they missed to mention is the improvement in the running between the wickets that improved drastically in the middle overs during that period
Hi Ashwin, Great episode and thanks for that ! Mentioning the Indian players of 2011 - there was no mention on Virendra Schewag who hit first ball 4 in almost all the matches! What a great opener he was in both Test and White Ball cricket.
yeah but he mentioned it earlier around 7 min mark
Literally I'm getting goose bumps more than 2k gen 19k gen have the intensity on fire....uff I really enjoyed it. I many not in their dressing room but when they discussed it felt like I'm among one of them
So happy to see this.
Every single word on this episode gave me freaking goosebumps and tears of happiness. Thank you guys!!❤
Two of India's sharpest cricketing minds! It makes for a compelling watch!
Gautam Gambhir the highest scorer in both WC finals! What perfect depiction of the mvp 13:17
Very Happy with the Raina's Praise
I still remember that 2011 quarter final against australia
When yuvi and raina came together at the end, it was a tense situation
the required run rate, back then, in the pre ipl madness era, seemed a lot when it actually wasn't
India probably needed 60/70, but it was against lee and co, defending world conquerors
one perfect yorker landed, and possibly the match would be over
born in 96, I honestly didn't have much expectations from the team, but ganguly's revolutionary 11, who brought back trust and loyalty into the fans, deserved it
winning it this time around would be way more challenging. But given the batting unit performs, intending to dominate, escaping a few potential dews, I think they can go the distance
australia and the england game in the group are a must win
On the night of iconic 2nd april, 2011, we went out for a casual walk nearby. And the generally empty streets were suddenly seeing a lot of people
cricket is the invisible religion in india.
Ashwin your Dhoni fan boy literally came out here ❤❤
Ohh the 2011 World Cup.... What a Day it was 😊😊
Thank you ash for giving the true picture of gautam gambhir. Today people sledge him because he had banter with kohli on ground but they forget what gautam gambhir was. He fought with shahid afridi, kamran akmal, the giant Shane Watson when kohli was teenager.
Dhoni will always have the greatest legacy in Indian cricket
Thats magic. we can feel it and enjoy. Great insights into the game. As ashwin pointed out, opportunity ll come to you and we have to be ready for it. Absolutely right and that has happened to Ashwin to enter this world cup also. Waiting for that moment of glory again.
Watching this a night before the IND vs AUS wc opener...such good moments of 2011..hope we have a great 23 campaign...All the best to team India
The best cricket talk show... kutti stories has been just a treat for all cricket lovers. Thanks Ashwin and Harsha
Uncontrollable tears rolling down thinking of that moment ..these cricketers gave us and continue to give us so much of joy and we should take it for granted its the players who are most dispointed than us the fans .. and we have to stand with the team when we lose more than when we do well ... as a die-hard and passionate cricket fans i feel thats the least we could do
Be with the team when they fail as well .. and not abuse and invade their personal space and abuse them especially in SM
2011 world cup India had the greatest middle order in white ball ever .... The legends of Yuvraj Singh....The destroyer Suresh Raina....The Bahubali Mahendra Singh Dhoni ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ashwin simply peaked in this episode. Just look at the pride in his eyes.
This felt like an intro to a larger podcast. Need a 2 hour episode with Harsha if not more about the 2011 WC.
Ash and Harsha are room mates guys !!!! They are releasing episodes after episodes 😂❤
😂😂
It was lovely Ash anna!
Listening to the voice of cricket discussing the 2011 triumph with one of the sharpest brains. Amazing..
Goosebumps
Aswin bhai ..ur the main player of Indian cricket team in 2023... because Australia, England, newzealand, South Africa.. match in ur hand .. please jaan laga dena...jeetne ke liye.. best of luck
This is just a wonderful conversation between two people who understand the game of cricket. Brilliant.
Glad you mentioned gautam gambhir the unsung hero of Indian cricket 🏏🇮🇳🫶♥️
We should celebrate each and every player for their contributions ❤.
Teared up listening to this episode. Great conversation touching upon the nuances and acknowledging everyone who contributed incl Munaf who has been forgotten since.
Where's Munaf mentioned?
Thank you so much Ash, for talking about Gautam Gambhir
