Wow ! I was looking for ideas about playing with my small volca setup when I found this video. Now, for "technical reasons" (I started dancing and kept dancing to the end), I have to see it again 🤣 Thanks a lot for this ! ! !
This is really great! As a side note, I think it might be nice to do some video effects like color filters or something, maybe desaturate the colors, I dunno, nothing so obtrusive that we can't keep track of what you're doing. It's really fun to watch you at work here even though I don't feel the need to watch it at all to enjoy it.
So dope! Around 18-22 minutes in, sounds like something that the legendary Antarctica (NYC) would have made. Like a b-side to their magnum opus "81:03".
Nice job as always! I've a question. You said in your setup video, that the volca keys & fm are triggered by the keystep. Can you use the built in sequencer from the keystep while triggering the keys and fm? Maybe you answered the question in the setup video and I missed that part.
Thanks! Good question. What we usually do is start by using the Keystep to improvise, then when we find a nice tune, we record that on the Volca's sequencer. When recorded, you can keep playing the Keystep and the Volca will (try to) play those notes. Keep in mind you typically control 1 MIDI device with the Keystep (since you choose which MIDI channel you want to send the notes to), unless you've set multiple Volcas / synths to the same MIDI channel, which is something that can be quite fun: ruclips.net/video/BhpMuhYOKGk/видео.html :)
@@SlenterendeBeer Dope! I'm owning exactly the same volcas and due to your videos I'm going to get myself the keystep. This thing is awesome. An additional synth and a midi keyboard at the same time! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Appreciate it!
Use Synthmata. Connect the USB-MIDI interface to your Volca and computer, go to oscillatorsink.com in your Chrome browser (important), find "Korg Volca FM Patch Pack" on the page, and click the patch names to go to Synthmata. Allow the page to use your MIDI devices and you can send them to your Volca directly. Using Chrome is important, because not every browser supports WebMIDI, but Chrome definitely does.
@@SlenterendeBeerCan it be done with the arturia keystep as a usb midi interface? I select arturia keystep as midi device , choose the patch and when i hit load sysex nothing happens
@@SlenterendeBeer Ok thanks for the info, really appreciate it. Its been a nightmare to figure out. Any suggestions? I do have a yamaha mg10xu so didnt wanted to get an audio interface with midi. Maybe a midi to usb host?
Hi guys, i really like your jams and i'm always impressed how often you upload. I was wondering what do you think about your mixer. It's a UFX1204 right ? It's one of the only one in that price range doing multi track recording so i'm thinking about getting it as well.
Sawsick : We’re very happy with it! I honestly can’t think of any downsides. Being able to record to USB HDD directly has really changed our workflow. Highly recommended! :)
Bought a refurbished UFX1604 directly from Behringer/Music Group for little money. Turns out it was a brand new one. Really good mixer! Look for Behringer deals on Ebay!

Artemij Pischik : Cool! But beware: the Keystep is not a synth, it’s just a MIDI controller.
@@SlenterendeBeer Yes! And its quite tricky. After being used to the volcas sequencer i got the keystep and took me a while to work out how to use it
How do you transfer the oscilator sink's patches to volca fm? I tried to do it with dexed and didn't worked for me

Ras Dani : No, the Keystep does not support MIDI sysex messages, you’ll have to use a different USB MIDI interface.
